The intent or purpose of the zoning feature class is to promote the public health, safety and general welfare and to carry out the Deschutes County, Oregon Comprehensive Plan, the provisions of ORS 215 and the Statewide Planning Goals adopted pursuant to ORS 197. Zoning districts are established to regulate and govern the development and use of land within Deschutes County, Oregon. Zoning within Urban Growth Boundaries is regulated by the cities of Bend, Redmond and Sisters.
Zoning and Land Use Controls Map The Zoning and Land Use Controls Map identifies the distinct zoning boundaries within the Ashland City Limits. To encourage the most appropriate and efficient use of lands and to accommodate orderly growth consistent with the Ashland Comprehensive Plan, the zoning designation of each parcel provides for the type of developments permitted. The Ashland Land Use Ordinance, Chapter 18, is the implementing document which outlines all permitted or conditional uses allowable within a given zone.

Deschutes County, Oregon Surface Mining Impact Area Combining Zone. The SMIA zone shall apply to all property located within one half mile of the boundary of a surface mining zone. However, the SMIA zone shall not apply to any property located within an urban growth boundary, city or other county.
