    Description

The Organic INTEGRITY Database is a certified organic operations database that contains up-to-date and accurate information about operations that may and may not sell as organic, deterring fraud, increases supply chain transparency for buyers and sellers, and promotes market visibility for organic operations. Only certified operations can sell, label, or represent products as organic, unless exempt or excluded from certification. The INTEGRITY database improves access to certified organic operation information by giving industry and public users an easier way to search for data with greater precision than the formerly posted Annual Lists of Certified Operations. You can find a certified organic farm or business, or search for an operation with specific characteristics such as:

The status of an operation: Certified, Surrendered, Revoked, or Suspended The scopes for which an operation is certified: Crops, Livestock, Wild Crops, or Handling

The organic commodities and services that operations offer. A new, more structured classification system (sample provided) will help you find more of what you’re looking for and details about the flexible taxonomy can be found in the INTEGRITY Categories and Items list. Resources in this dataset:Resource Title: Organic INTEGRITY Database. File Name: Web Page, url: https://organic.ams.usda.gov/integrity/Default.aspx Find a specific certified organic farm or business, or search for an operation with specific characteristics. Listings come from USDA-Accredited Certifying Agents. The India organic food market size was valued at USD 1510.36 Million in 2024. The industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 22.00% during the forecast period of 2025-2034 to reach a valuation of USD 11032.62 Million by 2034.

The India organic food market is a niche market, with the market expected to see wider penetration in the coming years. Owing to the growing incidences of food adulteration, the demand for organic food is anticipated to rise in the coming years, which increases the market size of organic food in India. Companies are also opening small kiosks in malls of metropolitan cities, which is adding to the India organic food market development. The e-commerce industry growth also serves as an aid to enterprises as a way of appealing to potential consumers due to the lucrative offers and wider market penetration of the platforms. Organic beverages like tea have the greatest appeal, followed by milk products and pulses.

India's organic product exports experienced significant growth during 2019-2021, with total export values rising from USD 681.29 million in 2019-2020 to USD 1,032.98 million in 2020-2021, before slightly declining to USD 765.97 million in 2021-2022. The United States and the European Union were the top destinations for these exports, with the former importing 1,063 billion tonnes worth USD 1,237.25 million and the EU importing 613.51 billion tonnes worth USD 909.9 million between FY19 and FY22. This upward trend in exports indicates a growing international demand for Indian organic products. This trend underscores the importance of maintaining high-quality standards and expanding organic farming practices and eventually boosting the organic food industry in India.

Fresh fruits and vegetables accounted for 85,548 metric tons, reflecting the increasing demand for organic produce among health-conscious consumers. Pulses, another staple in the Indian diet, were produced at 73,765 metric tons, showcasing the emphasis on organic farming to meet domestic consumption needs. Tea, a major export commodity, recorded 42,845 metric tons, while coffee production stood at 20,071 metric tons. This diverse production landscape aligns with the increasing demand for organic food products produced in the country, fuelling the growth of the India organic food market.

    Market Dynamics of

    Organic Food Market

Key Drivers for Organic Food Market

Increasing consumer awareness regarding health and sustainability: Rising concerns over pesticide residues, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and chemical fertilizers have led consumers to seek healthier and cleaner food alternatives. Organic food is viewed as safer, more nutritious, and environmentally sustainable—resulting in a significant demand among urban and health-conscious demographics.

Government backing and certification initiatives: Regulatory authorities globally are promoting organic agriculture through subsidies, certification programs, and labeling standards. These efforts enhance consumer confidence and encourage producer involvement, thereby broadening the global presence of certified organic food products.

Expansion in retail and online distribution: The presence of organic food in mainstream supermarkets, specialty shops, and e-commerce platforms has significantly enhanced accessibility. Contemporary retail and direct-to-consumer channels now accommodate a variety of organic product categories with effective logistics and attractive branding.

Key Restraints for Organic Food Market

Increased production and retail expenses: Organic farming necessitates more labor, stringent compliance, and lower yields compared to traditional methods. These elements drive up prices for end consumers, restricting affordability in price-sensitive markets and complicating wider adoption.

Shorter shelf life and logistical hurdles: In the absence of preservatives, organic food generally has a reduced shelf life. This leads to increased waste and necessitates quicker, more efficient cold chain logistics, which can be financially burdensome for suppliers and retailers.

Lack of awareness in emerging markets: In numerous developing areas, insufficient consumer education regarding organic labeling and its benefits hampers demand. Furthermore, fragmented certification systems can undermine trust and create confusion about what qualifies as “truly organic” products.

Key Trends for Organic Food Market

Expansion of plant-based and vegan organic options: The convergence of veganism and organic lifestyles is driving the demand for organic plant-based alternatives, which include dairy-free beverages, meat substitutes, and snacks—providing clean-label, eco-friendly products that possess ethical appeal.

Growth of organic private label brands: Supermarkets and online retailers are introducing cost-effective private label organic products to engage middle-income consumers. These products enhance organic market penetration while posing a challenge to premium brands in price-sensitive markets.

Integration of tech in organic farming: Precision agriculture technologies such as drones, IoT sensors, and AI-driven soil analysis are being utilized to enhance organic yield and traceability. This transition promotes sustainability while streamlining compliance and certification processes.

Introduction of The Organic Food Market

The increasing popularity of organic food among consumers, particularly in metropolitan areas, is a major factor driving the organic food market. This is explained by people's increasing awareness of the health risks linked to chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Millennials and Gen Z are the main customer demographics driving this trend since they show more interest than the average consumer in natural and organic items. 43% of clients in this age bracket indicated a preference for natural skincare products, compared to 31% of American consumers overall.

Demand for organic food and drink is rising as environmental worries about the use of dangerous chemicals in farming and agribusiness and their negative impacts on consumer health grow. Rapid urbaniz...
