The OSNI Large-scale Parliamentry Constituencies boundaries is a polygon dataset consisting of official boundaries as agreed by The Boundary Commission of Northern Irelandin 2008.The data has been extracted from OSNI Largescale database and has been topologically cleansed and attributed to create a seamless dataset.
These are digital boundaries for the system of Constituencies which were and are the units from which Members of Parliament are elected, and which they then represent. The system of county and borough constituencies has early origins but was not systematically mapped until the reforms introduced by the Representation of the People Act in 1832. This file represents a separate set of digital boundaries for constituencies in England and Wales created for the period 1870-85 incorporating eliminations of rotten boroughs between the Boundary Commission Reports of 1868 and 1885. Statistical data and other information used in “A Vision of Britain through Time” can be accessed here: http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/data.
For further information about the Parliamentary Constituencies and Members of Parliament in the York area, see the City of York Council website. The electoral divisions are derived from Ordnance Survey Boundary-Line data which is an OS OpenData product.
Scottish Parliamentary Constituencies and Regions define the electoral areas used to return members to the Scottish Parliament. There are 73 constituencies, each electing one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP), and 8 regional constituencies each electing an additional seven MSPs. The total number of parliamentary seats is 129. Boundaries Scotland is responsible for recommendations on the definition of constituency and region boundaries, however, the definitive dataset is delineated by Ordnance Survey for inclusion in their BoundaryLine product.

The system of county and borough constituencies has early origins but was not systematically mapped until the reforms introduced by the Representation of the People Act in 1832. In 1949 the whole system of county and borough/burgh constituencies was overhauled to achieve greater consistency across the UK and all two-member and non-spatial constituencies were abolished. This file represents the system as it was established following the Boundary Commission Report of 1949.
