    Description

This dataset is a series of digital map-posters accompanying the AdaptNRM Guide: Helping Biodiversity Adapt: supporting climate adaptation planning using a community-level modelling approach.

These represent supporting materials and information about the community-level biodiversity models applied to climate change. Map posters are organised by four biological groups (vascular plants, mammals, reptiles and amphibians), two climate change scenario (1990-2050 MIROC5 and CanESM2 for RCP8.5), and five measures of change in biodiversity.

The map-posters present the nationally consistent data at locally relevant resolutions in eight parts – representing broad groupings of NRM regions based on the cluster boundaries used for climate adaptation planning (http://www.environment.gov.au/climate-change/adaptation) and also Nationally.

Map-posters are provided in PNG image format at moderate resolution (300dpi) to suit A0 printing. The posters were designed to meet A0 print size and digital viewing resolution of map detail. An additional set in PDF image format has been created for ease of download for initial exploration and printing on A3 paper. Some text elements and map features may be fuzzy at this resolution.

Each map-poster contains four dataset images coloured using standard legends encompassing the potential range of the measure, even if that range is not represented in the dataset itself or across the map extent.

Most map series are provided in two parts: part 1 shows the two climate scenarios for vascular plants and mammals and part 2 shows reptiles and amphibians. Eight cluster maps for each series have a different colour theme and map extent. A national series is also provided. Annotation briefly outlines the topics presented in the Guide so that each poster stands alone for quick reference.

An additional 77 National maps presenting the probability distributions of each of 77 vegetation types – NVIS 4.1 major vegetation subgroups (NVIS subgroups) - are currently in preparation.

    Example citations:

This dataset has been delivered incrementally. Please check that you are accessing the latest version of the dataset. Lineage: The map posters show case the scientific data. The data layers have been developed at approximately 250m resolution (9 second) across the Australian continent to incorporate the interaction between climate and topography, and are best viewed using a geographic information system (GIS). Each data layers is 1Gb, and inaccessible to non-GIS users. The map posters provide easy access to the scientific data, enabling the outputs to be viewed at high resolution with geographical context information provided.

Maps were generated using layout and drawing tools in ArcGIS 10.2.2

A check list of map posters and datasets is provided with the collection.

    Description

The link: * Access the data directory* is available in the section*Dataset description sheets; Additional information*. Ecoforest maps in PDF format are available at a scale of 1/20,000 and cover Quebec territory approximately up to the 52nd parallel. Each map covers an average area of approximately 250 km2 and presents forest information for the territory concerned. Its accuracy is approximately 10 meters. These maps are an image of the current ecoforest map for the corresponding year. Maps 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 The maps 2021, 2022, 2023, as well as those of 2024 are produced from the up-to-date ecoforest map of the corresponding year. It represents the result of the photo-interpretation of aerial photographs taken during the 4th and 5th ecoforestry inventories of southern Quebec to which were added natural disturbances (fires, epidemics, windfalls, etc.) and forest interventions (harvesting and reforestation) carried out in the public forest following the year in which the picture was taken. According to the maps, data using the forest stand inventory approach (AIPF) is included when available for a complete sheet. Main components: type of vegetation (forest species group, density class, class of density, class of height, age class, etc.) or type of AIPF vegetation (detailed forest species, density (%), height (m), age class, etc.); slope class; class of slope; nature of the terrain (peatlands, height class, age class, etc.); topography (level curves); fragmentation. 2019 and 2020 maps The 2019 maps, as well as those of 2020, are produced from up-to-date ecoforest maps of the corresponding year. They represent the result of the photo-interpretation of aerial photographs taken during the 4th and 5th ecoforestry inventories of southern Quebec to which were added natural disturbances (fires, epidemics, windfalls, etc.) and forest interventions (harvesting and reforestation) carried out in the public forest following the year in which the photo-interpretation of aerial photographs from the 4th and 5th ecoforestry inventories of southern Quebec were taken. An update is then carried out taking into account natural disturbances (fires, epidemics, windfalls, etc.) and forest interventions (harvesting and reforestation) carried out in public forests. The information presented corresponds to the current ecoforest map of 2019 or 2020 as the case may be. On each of the maps, the name of the stands is expressed by the group of species. Main components: type of vegetation (forest species, density, height, height, age class, etc.); slope class; nature of the terrain (peatlands, gravel, etc.); hydrography (lakes, rivers, streams, streams, swamps, etc.); transport network and swamps, etc.); transport network and bridges; topography (level curves); fragmentation. Maps 2015 The 2015 maps are produced from the photo-interpretation of aerial photographs from the 3rd and 4th ecoforest inventories of southern Quebec. An update is then carried out taking into account natural disturbances (fires, epidemics, windfalls, etc.) and forest interventions (cutting and planting) carried out in public forests. The information presented corresponds to the 2015 updated ecoforest map. Description

This group of maps, which includes the CanMatrix and CanTopo collections, is now a legacy product that is no longer maintained. It may not meet current government standards. Natural Resources Canada's (NRCan) topographic raster maps provide a representation of the topographic phenomena of the Canadian landmass. Several editions of paper maps have been produced over time in order to offer improved products compared to their predecessors in terms of quality and the most up to date information possible. The georeferenced maps can be used in a Geographic Information System (GIS). In all cases, they accurately represent the topographical data available for the date indicated (validity date). The combination of CanMatrix and CanTopo data provides complete national coverage. • CanMatrix - Print Ready: Raster maps produced by scanning topographic maps at scales from 1:25 000 to 1:1 000 000. This product is not georeferenced. Validity dates: 1944 to 2005 (1980 on average). Available formats: PDF and TIFF • CanMatrix - Georeferenced: Raster maps produced by scanning topographic maps at scales of 1:50 000 and 1:250 000. These maps are georeferenced according to the 1983 North American Reference System (NAD 83). Validity dates: 1944 to 2005 (1980 on average). Available format: GeoTIFF • CanTopo: Digital raster maps produced mainly from the GeoBase initiative, NRCan digital topographic data, and other sources. Approximately 2,234 datasets (maps) at scale of 1:50 000, primarily covering northern Canada, are available. CanTopo datasets in GeoPDF and GeoTIFF format are georeferenced according to the 1983 North American Reference System (NAD 83). Validity dates: 1946 to 2012 (2007 on average). Available formats: PDF, GeoPDF, TIFF and GeoTIFF

    Description

This platform aims to provide up-to-date and reliable geological, hydrogeological and geophysical data and information about Hungary’s geothermal energy resources via a user-friendly and publicly accessible site. We hope that this platform will help the preparatory work of national and international consortia aiming to invest into new geothermal projects in Hungary, as well as the every-day work of policy makers. Furthermore it aims to assist higher level education and also provide useful information to the public interested in geothermal energy. The portal has 2 parts: an interactive web-map viewer, where different geological, geothermal and other thematic maps, as well as boreholes and other relevant spatial data are displayed, and 3 moduls (benchmarking, decision tree, risk mitigation), which support geothermal project development from different aspects. The use of the web-map viewer and the moduls is described in the Users’ Manual ( https://map.mbfsz.gov.hu/ogre_en/melleklet/users_manual.pdf ). Maps presented on the portal are based on regional geoscientific models, therefore they provide a large-scale overview about the geothermal conditions of a certain territory, however they do not replace detailed exploration and pre-feasibility study necessary for a concrete project at local scale.

    Description

These data depict the western United States Map Unit areas as defined by the USDA NRCS. Each Map Unit area contains information on a variety of soil properties and interpretations. The raster is to be joined to the .csv file by the field "mukey." We keep the raster and csv separate to preserve the full attribute names in the csv that would be truncated if attached to the raster. Once joined, the raster can be classified or analyzed by the columns which depict the properties and interpretations. It is important to note that each property has a corresponding component percent column to indicate how much of the map unit has the dominant property provided. For example, if the property "AASHTO Group Classification (Surface) 0 to 1cm" is recorded as "A-1" for a map unit, a user should also refer to the component percent field for this property (in this case 75). This means that an estimated 75% of the map unit has a "A-1" AASHTO group classification and that "A-1" is the dominant group. The property in the column is the dominant component, and so the other 25% of this map unit is comprised of other AASHTO Group Classifications. This raster attribute table was generated from the "Map Soil Properties and Interpretations" tool within the gSSURGO Mapping Toolset in the Soil Data Management Toolbox for ArcGIS™ User Guide Version 4.0 (https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/PA_NRCSConsumption/download?cid=nrcseprd362255&ext=pdf) from GSSURGO that used their Map Unit Raster as the input feature (https://gdg.sc.egov.usda.gov/). The FY2018 Gridded SSURGO Map Unit Raster was created for use in national, regional, and state-wide resource planning and analysis of soils data. These data were created with guidance from the USDA NRCS. The fields named "*COMPPCT_R" can exceed 100% for some map units. The NRCS personnel are aware of and working on fixing this issue. Take caution when interpreting these areas, as they are the result of some data duplication in the master gSSURGO database. The data are considered valuable and required for timely science needs, and thus are released with this known error. The USDA NRCS are developing a data release which will replace this item when it is available. For the most up to date ssurgo releases that do not include the custom fields as this release does, see https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/detail/soils/home/?cid=nrcs142p2_053628#tools For additional definitions, see https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/detail/soils/survey/geo/?cid=nrcs142p2_053627.

    Description

The gridded National Soil Survey Geographic Database (gNATSGO) is a USDA-NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) Soil & Plant Science Division (SPSD) composite ESRI file geodatabase that provides complete coverage of the best available soils information for all areas of the United States and Island Territories. It was created by combining data from the Soil Survey Geographic Database (SSURGO), State Soil Geographic Database (STATSGO2), and Raster Soil Survey Databases (RSS) into a single seamless ESRI file geodatabase. The gNATSGO database contains a 10-meter raster of the soil map units and 70 related tables of soil properties and interpretations. It is designed to work with the SPSD gSSURGO ArcTools. Users can create full coverage thematic maps and grids of soil properties and interpretations for large geographic areas, such as the extent of a State or the conterminous United States. SSURGO is the SPSD flagship soils database that has over 100 years of field-validated detailed soil mapping data. SSURGO contains soils information for more than 90 percent of the United States and island territories, but unmapped land remains. The current completion status of SSURGO mapping is displayed (PDF). STATSGO2 is a general soil map that has soils data for all of the United States and island territories, but the data is not as detailed as the SSURGO data. The Raster Soil Surveys (RSSs) are the next generation soil survey databases developed using advanced digital soil mapping methods. The first version of gNATSGO was created in 2019. It is composed primarily of SSURGO data, but STATSGO2 data was used to fill in the gaps. Three RSSs have been published as of 2019. These were merged into the gNATSGO after combining the SSURGO and STATSGO2 data. The extent of RSS is expected to increase in the coming years.
