These moves are managed and reported by the Housing & Support Services (HSS) line of action. This data collected by the coordinators at various shelters across the city with the assistance of other city agencies. Each record represents a client intake, which entails a particular homelessness assistance request. The captured in this report can provide insight on the successful moves DVS processes, including some demographic information on the veterans DVS interacts with. The report is manually recorded, compiling information from various systems and databases.

    Description

    A. SUMMARY This dataset contains the underlying data for the Vision Zero Benchmarking website. Vision Zero is the collaborative, citywide effort to end traffic fatalities in San Francisco. The goal of this benchmarking effort is to provide context to San Francisco’s work and progress on key Vision Zero metrics alongside its peers. The Controller's Office City Performance team collaborated with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the San Francisco Police Department, and other stakeholders on this project. B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED The Vision Zero Benchmarking website has seven major metrics. The City Performance team collected the data for each metric separately, cleaned it, and visualized it on the website. This dataset has all seven metrics and some additional underlying data. The majority of the data is available through public sources, but a few data points came from the peer cities themselves. C. UPDATE PROCESS This dataset is for historical purposes only and will not be updated. To explore more recent data, visit the source website for the relevant metrics. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET This dataset contains all of the Vision Zero Benchmarking metrics. Filter for the metric of interest, then explore the data. Where applicable, datasets already include a total. For example, under the Fatalities metric, the "Total Fatalities" category within the metric shows the total fatalities in that city. Any calculations should be reviewed to not double-count data with this total. E. RELATED DATASETS N/A

    Description

This paper uses data from three prominent exam high schools in New York City to estimate the impact of attending a school with high-achieving peers on college enrollment and graduation. Our identification strategy exploits sharp discontinuities in the admissions process. Applicants just eligible for an exam school have peers that score 0.17 to 0.36 standard deviations higher on eighth grade state tests and that are 6.4 to 9.5 percentage points less likely to be black or Hispanic. However, exposure to these higher-achieving and more homogeneous peers has little impact on college enrollment, college graduation, or college quality.

    Description

Abstract (en): The Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods (PHDCN) was a large-scale, interdisciplinary study of how families, schools, and neighborhoods affect child and adolescent development. One component of the PHDCN was the Longitudinal Cohort Study, which was a series of coordinated longitudinal studies that followed over 6,000 randomly selected children, adolescents, and young adults, and their primary caregivers over time to examine the changing circumstances of their lives, as well as the personal characteristics, that might lead them toward or away from a variety of antisocial behaviors. Numerous measures were administered to respondents to gauge various aspects of human development, including individual differences, as well as family, peer, and school influences. One such measure was the Deviance of Peers instrument. It was a self-report interview that obtained information about peer involvement in conventional and delinquent activities. Compared to the Wave 1 version (PROJECT ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOODS (PHDCN): DEVIANCE OF PEERS, WAVE 1, 1994-1997 [ICPSR 13585]), a reduced set of items was included in Wave 3, but Wave 3 had additional questions regarding the age and gender of peers involved in particular behaviors. Information about peer pressure to use drugs and/or alcohol was also collected. It was administered to subjects in Cohorts 6, 9, and 12. The Wave 3 survey questions were identical to those asked in Wave 2 (PROJECT ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOODS (PHDCN): DEVIANCE OF PEERS, WAVE 2, 1997-2000 [ICPSR 13615]). Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods The Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods (PHDCN) was a large-scale, interdisciplinary study of how families, schools, and neighborhoods affect child and adolescent development. It was designed to advance the understanding of the developmental pathways of both positive and negative human social behaviors. In particular, the project examined the causes and pathways of juvenile delinquency, adult crime, substance abuse, and violence. At the same time, the project provided a detailed look at the environments in which these social behaviors took place by collecting substantial amounts of data about urban Chicago, including its people, institutions, and resources. Longitudinal Cohort Study One component of the PHDCN was the Longitudinal Cohort Study, which was a series of coordinated longitudinal studies that followed over 6,000 randomly selected children, adolescents, and young adults, and their primary caregivers over time to examine the changing circumstances of their lives, as well as the personal characteristics, that might lead them toward or away from a variety of antisocial behaviors. The age cohorts include birth (0), 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 years. Numerous measures were administered to respondents to gauge various aspects of human development, including individual differences, as well as family, peer, and school influences. Deviance of Peers The data in this collection are from Wave 3 of the Longitudinal Cohort Study, which was administered between 2000 and 2002. The data files contain information from the Deviance of Peers protocol. The Deviance of Peers instrument was a self-report interview that obtained information about peer involvement in conventional and delinquent activities. Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods The city of Chicago was selected as the research site for the PHDCN because of its extensive racial, ethnic, and social-class diversity. The project collapsed 847 census tracts in the city of Chicago into 343 neighborhood clusters (NCs) based upon seven groupings of racial/ethnic composition and three levels of socioeconomic status. The NCs were designed to be ecologically meaningful. They were composed of geographically contiguous census tracts, and geographic boundaries, and knowledge of Chicago's neighborhoods were considered in the definition of the NCs. Each NC was comprised of approximately 8,000 people. Longitudinal Cohort Study For the Longitudinal Cohort Study, a stratified probability sample of 80 neighborhoods was selected. The 80 NCs were sampled from the 21 strata (seven racial/ethnic groups by three socioeconomic levels) with the goal of representing the 21 cells as equally as possible to eliminate the confounding between racial/ethnic mix and socioeconomic status. Once the 80 NCs were chosen, then block groups were selected ...

Description

PARD’s Long Range Plan for Land, Facilities and Programs, Our Parks, Our Future (adopted November 2019) compared Austin’s park system to five peer cities: Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX, Portland, OR, San Antonio, TX, and San Diego, CA. The peer cities were selected based on characteristics such as population, size, density, and governance type. Portland and San Diego were selected as aspirational cities known for their park systems. Note that the table below presents each scoring area’s 1 to 100 index, where 100 is the highest possible score.
