    The number of LASIK surgeries in the United States has declined in recent years but is expected to increase again in the near future. Current estimates suggest that there were as few as 596 thousand surgeries in 2015, half the number that occurred in 2007. Future estimates indicate that there may be as many as 718 thousand surgeries occurring yearly by 2020. Lasik stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. Vision problems in the U.S.There are many types of vision problems that affect the U.S. population. Approximately 10 percent of the U.S. population is estimated to have had serious vision limitation or blindness as in recent years. It is also estimated that a vast majority of U.S. adults use some form of corrective eyewear. Despite a majority of U.S. adults needing some form of vision correction, the number of eye surgery centers in the U.S. has decreased dramatically in recent years. LASIK surgeryLASIK surgery involves the use of lasers to change the shape of the cornea and fix refractive errors of the eye. LASIK is an ocular surgery intended to reduce a persons’ dependence on glasses or contact lenses. The cost for a LASIK corrective eye procedure in the U.S. has been estimated at around 4,000 U.S. dollars for both eyes. Strangely, the U.S. vision correction surgery industry has recently dropped in value to nearly half the value it was in the early 2000s.

The number of LASIK surgeries in the United States has declined in recent years but is expected to increase again in the near future. Current estimates suggest that there were as few as 596 thousand surgeries in 2015, half the number that occurred in 2007. Future estimates indicate that there may be as many as 718 thousand surgeries occurring yearly by 2020. Lasik stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. Vision problems in the U.S.There are many types of vision problems that affect the U.S. population. Approximately 10 percent of the U.S. population is estimated to have had serious vision limitation or blindness as in recent years. It is also estimated that a vast majority of U.S. adults use some form of corrective eyewear. Despite a majority of U.S. adults needing some form of vision correction, the number of eye surgery centers in the U.S. has decreased dramatically in recent years. LASIK surgeryLASIK surgery involves the use of lasers to change the shape of the cornea and fix refractive errors of the eye. LASIK is an ocular surgery intended to reduce a persons’ dependence on glasses or contact lenses. The cost for a LASIK corrective eye procedure in the U.S. has been estimated at around 4,000 U.S. dollars for both eyes. Strangely, the U.S. vision correction surgery industry has recently dropped in value to nearly half the value it was in the early 2000s.
