Data are collected monthly from a random sample of the California population aged 18 years and older. The BRFSS is conducted by Public Health Survey Research Program of California State University, Sacramento under contract from CDPH. In 2012, the survey methodology of the California BRFSS changed significantly so that the survey would be more representative of the general population.
