Additionally, 16.1 percent of consumers drink coffee a few times a week. The coffee market in the U.S. Domestic coffee consumption in the United States amounts to over 26.3 million 60-kilogram bags. There has been a steady increase in coffee consumption over the last decade. Many Americans buy their coffee at a coffee shop and café chain store. While it was still the favorite method of the year, ***percent fewer people used drip-coffee makers compared to 2012. Methods of preparation While drip coffee usage has declined significantly, other coffee preparation methods have become more prevalent since 2010. In 2020, almost thirty percent of respondents reported to have made a cup of coffee using a single-cup brewer during the past day. Usage of this method has increased from ******percent in 2010. Espresso machines have also become more common, compared to a decade ago: in 2025, about ***percent of past day coffee drinkers used an espresso machine, while in 2010, this percentage stood at *****percent. Coffee roasting Roasting coffee beans is what gives coffee its signature aroma and flavor, and there are various roast types to choose from in this day and age. In 2020, when asked about the kind of coffee roast they drank the day before, just over half of the U.S. survey respondents stated they drank a cup of medium roast coffee.
