As of January 17, 2023, 96.3 percent of adults in Ireland had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. According to the manufacturers of the majority of COVID-19 vaccines currently in use in Europe, being fully vaccinated is when a person receives two doses of the vaccine. In Portugal, 94.2 percent of adults had received a full course of the COVID-19 vaccination, as well as 93.9 percent of those in Malta had been fully vaccinated. On the other hand, only 35.8 percent of adults in Bulgaria had been fully vaccinated.

Note: In these datasets, a person is defined as up to date if they have received at least one dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that certain groups, including adults ages 65 years and older, receive additional doses.
On 6/16/2023 CDPH replaced the booster measures with a new “Up to Date” measure based on CDC’s new recommendations, replacing the primary series, boosted, and bivalent booster metrics The definition of “primary series complete” has not changed and is based on previous recommendations that CDC has since simplified. A person cannot complete their primary series with a single dose of an updated vaccine. Whereas the booster measures were calculated using the eligible population as the denominator, the new up to date measure uses the total estimated population. Please note that the rates for some groups may change since the up to date measure is calculated differently than the previous booster and bivalent measures.
This data is from the same source as the Vaccine Progress Dashboard at https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccination-progress-data/ which summarizes vaccination data at the county level by county of residence. Where county of residence was not reported in a vaccination record, the county of provider that vaccinated the resident is included. This applies to less than 1% of vaccination records. The sum of county-level vaccinations does not equal statewide total vaccinations due to out-of-state residents vaccinated in California.
These data do not include doses administered by the following federal agencies who received vaccine allocated directly from CDC: Indian Health Service, Veterans Health Administration, Department of Defense, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

On March 3, 2023, with the release of HPI 3.0 in 2022, the previous equity scores have been updated to reflect more recent community survey information. This change represents an improvement to the way CDPH monitors health equity by using the latest and most accurate community data available. The HPI uses a collection of data sources and indicators to calculate a measure of community conditions ranging from the most to the least healthy based on economic, housing, and environmental measures.
Starting on July 13, 2022, the denominator for calculating vaccine coverage has been changed from age 5+ to all ages to reflect new vaccine eligibility criteria. Previously the denominator was changed from age 16+ to age 12+ on May 18, 2021, then changed from age 12+ to age 5+ on November 10, 2021, to reflect previous changes in vaccine eligibility criteria. The previous datasets based on age 16+ and age 5+ denominators have been uploaded as archived tables.

For surveillance purposes, up to date is defined based on the following criteria: People ages 5 years and older: · Are up to date when they receive 1+ doses of a COVID-19 vaccine during the current season. In the United States, influenza vaccination rates differ greatly by age. For example, during the 2022-2023 flu season, around 70 percent of those aged 65 years and older received an influenza vaccination, compared to just 35 percent of those aged 18 to 49 years. The CDC recommends that everyone six months and older in the United States should get vaccinated against influenza every year, with a few exceptions. Although influenza is mild for most people it can lead to hospitalization and even death, especially among the young, the old, and those with certain preexisting conditions.
The impact of flu vaccinations Flu vaccinations are safe and effective, preventing thousands of illnesses, medical visits, and deaths every year. However, the effectiveness of flu vaccines varies each year depending on what flu viruses are circulating that season and the age and health status of the person receiving the vaccination. During the 2022-2023 flu season it was estimated that influenza vaccination prevented almost 31 thousand hospitalizations among those aged 65 years and older. In addition, flu vaccinations prevented 2,479 deaths among those aged 65 years and older as well as 63 deaths among children six months to four years.
The burden of influenza The impact of influenza is different from season to season. However, during the 2022-2023 flu season there were around 31 million cases of influenza in the United States. Furthermore, there were around 21,000 deaths due to influenza, an increase from the previous year but significantly fewer than in 2017-2018 when influenza contributed to 51,000 deaths. Most of these deaths are among the elderly. In 2022-2023 the death rate due to influenza among those aged 65 years and older was around 26.6 per 100,000 population. In comparison, those aged 18 to 49 years had an influenza death rate of just .7 per 100,000 population.

In the data shown here, a person who has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine is considered to have initiated vaccination. A person is considered fully vaccinated if he/she has completed a primary vaccination series by receiving 2 doses of the Pfizer, Novavax or Moderna vaccines or 1 dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The fully vaccinated are a subset of the people who have received at least one dose.
A person who completed a Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax or Johnson & Johnson primary series (as defined above) and then had an additional monovalent dose of COVID-19 vaccine is considered to have had additional dose 1. The additional dose may be Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax or Johnson & Johnson and may be a different type from the primary series. For people who had a primary Pfizer or Moderna series, additional dose 1 was counted starting August 18th, 2021. For people with a Johnson & Johnson primary series additional dose 1 was counted starting October 22nd, 2021. For most people, additional dose 1 is a booster. However, additional dose 1 may represent a supplement to the primary series for a people who is moderately or severely immunosuppressed. Bivalent booster administrations are not included in the additional dose 1 calculations.
The percent with at least one dose many be over-estimated, and the percent fully vaccinated and with additional dose 1 may be under-estimated because of vaccine administration records for individuals that cannot be linked because of differences in how names or date of birth are reported.

Town of residence is verified by geocoding the reported address and then mapping it to a town using municipal boundaries. If an address cannot be geocoded, the reported town is used, if available. People for whom an address is not currently available are shown in this table as “Address pending validation”. Out-of-state residents vaccinated by CT providers are excluded from the table.
Town-level coverage estimates have been capped at 100%. Observed coverage may be greater than 100% for multiple reasons, including census denominator data not including all individuals that currently reside in the town (e.g., part time residents, change in population size since the census), errors in address data or other reporting errors. Also, the percent with at least one dose many be over-estimated, and the percent fully vaccinated and with additional dose 1 may be under-estimated when records for an individual cannot be linked because of differences in how names or date of birth are reported.
Caution should be used when interpreting coverage estimates for towns with large college/university populations since coverage may be underestimated. In the census, college/university students who live on or just off campus would be counted in the college/university town. However, if a student was vaccinated while studying remotely in his/her hometown, the student may be counted as a vaccine recipient in that town.
SVI refers to the CDC's Social Vulnerability Index - a measure that combines 15 demographic variables to identify communities most vulnerable to negative health impacts from disasters and public health crises. Measures of social vulnerability include socioeconomic status, household composition, disability, race, ethnicity, language, and transportation limitations - among others. Towns with a "yes" in the "Has SVI tract >0.75" field are those that have at least one census tract that is in the top quartile of vulnerability (e.g., a high-need area). 34 towns in Connecticut have at least one census tract in the top quartile for vulnerability.
Connecticut COVID-19 Vaccine Program providers are required to report information on all COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to CT WiZ, the Connecticut Immunization Information System. Data on doses administered to CT residents out-of-state are being added to CT WiZ jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction. This dataset contains immunization status of kindergarten students in California in schools. Explanation of the different immunizations is in the attached data dictionary. The California Health and Safety Code Section 120325-75 requires students to provide proof of immunization for school and child care entry. Additionally, California Health and Safety Code Section 120375 and California Code of Regulation Section 6075 require all schools and child care facilities to assess and report annually the immunization status of their enrollees.
The annual kindergarten assessment is conducted each fall to monitor compliance with the California School Immunization law. Results from this assessment are used to measure immunization coverage among students entering kindergarten. Not all schools reported. This data set presents results from the kindergarten assessment and immunization coverage in kindergarten schools by county. BackgroundImmunizations are one of the most effective tools a community can use to increase overall health and decrease the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases. Nevertheless, socioeconomic status, geographical location, education, and a child's sex have been identified as contributing to inequities in vaccine uptake in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Madagascar follows the World Health Organization's Extended Programme on Immunization (EPI) schedule, yet vaccine distribution remains highly inequitable throughout the country. This systematic review sought to understand the differences in EPI vaccine uptake between boys and girls in Madagascar.MethodsA systematic literature search was conducted in August 2021 through MEDLINE, the Cochrane Library, Global Index Medicus, and Google Scholar to identify articles reporting sex-disaggregated vaccination rates in Malagasy children. Gray literature was also searched for relevant data. All peer-reviewed articles reporting sex-disaggregated data on childhood immunizations in Madagascar were eligible for inclusion. Risk of bias was assessed using a tool designed for use in systematic reviews. Data extraction was conducted with a pre-defined data extraction tool. Sex-disaggregated data were synthesized to understand the impact of a child's sex on vaccination status.FindingsThe systematic search identified 585 articles of which a total of three studies were included in the final data synthesis. One additional publication was included from the gray literature search. Data from included articles were heterogeneous and, overall, indicated similar vaccination rates in boys and girls. Three of the four articles reported slightly higher vaccination rates in girls than in boys. A meta-analysis was not conducted due to the heterogeneity of included data. Six additional barriers to immunization were identified: socioeconomic status, mother's education, geographic location, supply chain issues, father's education, number of children in the household, and media access.InterpretationThe systematic review revealed the scarcity of available sex-stratified immunization data for Malagasy children. The evidence available was limited and heterogeneous, preventing researchers from conclusively confirming or denying differences in vaccine uptake based on sex. The low vaccination rates and additional barriers identified here indicate a need for increased focus on addressing the specific obstacles to vaccination in Madagascar. A more comprehensive assessment of sex-disaggregated vaccination status of Malagasy children and its relationship with such additional obstacles is recommended. Both the flu letter and the flu plan have the support of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Pharmaceutical Officer (CPhO), and Director of Nursing.Vaccination coverage is the best indicator of the level of protection a population will have against vaccine-preventable communicable diseases. Immunisation is one of the most effective healthcare interventions available, and flu vaccines can prevent illness and hospital admissions among these groups of people. Increasing the uptake of the flu vaccine among these high-risk groups should also contribute to easing winter pressure on primary care services and hospital admissions. The annual pre-kindergarten (pre-K) through 12th grade school immunization survey collects school-level, grade-specific data on vaccine coverage and exemptions. The survey collects vaccination and exemption status data on children who entered the school system on or before a specified date during the fall semester. Individual vaccine information on each student is not collected. This table shows the percentage of kindergarten students vaccinated for each school-entry mandated vaccine series and the percentage with vaccination exemptions (medical or religious) reported by school. Percentage of students vaccinated is the number of students with the required number of doses of a given vaccine divided by the total number of students. Data includes all schools who reported students in kindergarten. School-mandated vaccine series for students enrolled in kindergarten are inactivated polio, DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis), MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella), hepatitis B, varicella, and hepatitis A. Each child has 1 of 4 possible vaccination statuses: Vaccinated, Exempt (Religious), Exempt (Medical) or Not Complete. The criteria shown below are used to assess whether a child is considered vaccinated. • Polio = at least 3 doses of inactivated polio vaccine, with the last dose on or after their 4th birthday. This is a school entry requirement starting in kindergarten. • DTaP = at least 4 doses of DTaP vaccine, with the last dose on or after their 4th birthday. This is a school entry requirement starting in kindergarten. • MMR = at least 2 doses of MMR vaccine separated by at least 28 days, with the 1st dose on or after their 1st birthday. This is a school entry requirement starting in kindergarten. • HepB = at least 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine, with the last dose on or after 24 weeks of age. This is a school entry requirement starting in kindergarten. • Varicella = at least 2 doses of varicella vaccine separated by at least 28 days, with the 1st dose on or after their 1st birthday, or a reliable history of chickenpox disease. This is a school entry requirement starting in kindergarten. • HepA = at least 2 doses of hepatitis A vaccine, given a minimum of six calendar months apart, with the 1st dose on or after their 1st birthday. This is a school entry requirement starting in kindergarten. • All = Percentage of students with all above vaccine series required for that grade level. Children without a record of vaccination, but with serologic proof of immunity to certain diseases (measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, and varicella), meet school entry requirements and may be counted as vaccinated. The values for schools with fewer than 30 enrolled kindergarteners are suppressed, and those fields are left blank. Data Limitations and Considerations: • The school level data shown here are as tabulated and reported by schools and discrepancies may exist. • The Immunization Program identifies outliers and internally inconsistent data points and works with schools to resolve any data quality issues, when possible. • CT DPH cannot verify the accuracy of vaccine data for individual children or whether the documentation necessary to claim an exemption has been submitted. • Data are collected at the beginning of the school year, by which time vaccines are due. As the year progresses, immunization rates may increase as additional children receive required immunizations. Additionally, the student body is dynamic and as students arrive and leave school, the immunization rates are impacted. • Vaccine status is assessed on the level of the child and not on each vaccine. Once a child is listed as exempt, vaccination data is no longer collected in the survey for that child. Therefore, children with exemptions are not counted as vaccinated in the vaccine level assessments although they may have received some vaccines. • One school was excluded due to a data collection error.

Important change as of June 1, 2022
As of June 1, 2022, we will be using 2020 DPH provisional census estimates* to calculate vaccine coverage percentages for state- and county-level tables (except coverage by CT SVI priority zip code). 2020 estimates will replace the 2019 estimates that have been used. Caution should be taken when making comparisons of percentages calculated using the 2019 and 2020 census estimates since observed difference may result from the shift in the denominator. The age groups in the state-level data tables will also be changing as a result of the switch to the new denominator.
This tables shows the number and percent of people that have initiated COVID-19 vaccination, are fully vaccinated, and addition dose 1 by age group. Age is based on age at the time of administration of the first dose.
All data in this report are preliminary; data for previous dates will be updated as new reports are received, and data errors are corrected.
Population size estimates are based on 2019 DPH census estimates until 5/26/2022. From 6/1/2022, 2020 DPH provisional census estimates are used.
In the data shown here, a person who has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine is considered to have initiated vaccination. A person is considered fully vaccinated if he/she has completed a primary vaccination series by receiving 2 doses of the Pfizer, Novavax or Moderna vaccines or 1 dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The fully vaccinated are a subset of the people who have received at least one dose.
A person who completed a Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax or Johnson & Johnson primary series (as defined above) and then had an additional monovalent dose of COVID-19 vaccine is considered to have had additional dose 1. The additional dose may be Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax or Johnson & Johnson and may be a different type from the primary series. For people who had a primary Pfizer or Moderna series, additional dose 1 was counted starting August 18th, 2021. For people with a Johnson & Johnson primary series additional dose 1 was counted starting October 22nd, 2021. For most people, additional dose 1 is a booster. However, additional dose 1 may represent a supplement to the primary series for a people who is moderately or severely immunosuppressed. Bivalent booster administrations are not included in the additional dose 1 calculations.
The percent with at least one dose many be over-estimated, and the percent fully vaccinated and with additional dose 1 may be under-estimated because of vaccine administration records for individuals that cannot be linked because of differences in how names or date of birth are reported.
Town-level coverage estimates have been capped at 100%. Observed coverage may be greater than 100% for multiple reasons, including census denominator data not including all individuals that currently reside in the town (e.g., part time residents, change in population size since the census), errors in address data or other reporting errors. Also, the percent with at least one dose many be over-estimated, and the percent fully

According to the estimates of the World Health Organization and the UNICEF, China has achieved over 96 percent coverage rates for 12 different vaccines in 2022. The coverage of the Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine, primarily used against tuberculosis, has remained at 99 percent.
Present state of the market Until recently, foreign pharmaceutical companies were required to conduct clinical trials in China before they could manufacture the a vaccine for the Chinese market. However, in 2017, the Chinese Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) relaxed the aforementioned requirement to improve the ease of doing business with foreign vaccine manufacturing companies. The response of the vaccine producing market to this regulation change was positive, resulting in an almost immediate expansion of the sector. Even though foreign participants were now able to access the market with more ease, domestic manufacturing of vaccines still accounted for a vast majority of the vaccines produced in China.
Moving on from the one-child policy In 2018, China had a birth rate of approximately four times that of the USA, which has been further boosted by the relaxation of the one-child policy in China. Along with China’s commitment to universal vaccination of infants, it is likely that the market for immunizations only keep growing.

Monthly Cumulative Number and Percent of Persons Who Received ≥1 Influenza Vaccination Doses, by Flu Season, Age Group, and Jurisdiction
• Influenza vaccination coverage for children and adults is assessed through U.S. jurisdictions’ Immunization Information Systems (IIS) data, submitted from jurisdictions to CDC monthly in aggregate by age group. More information about the IIS can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/iis/about.html.
• Influenza vaccination coverage estimate numerators include the number of people receiving at least one dose of influenza vaccine in a given flu season, based on information that state, territorial, and local public health agencies report to CDC. Some jurisdictions’ data may include data submitted by tribes. Estimates include persons who are deceased but received a vaccination during the current season. People receiving doses are attributed to the jurisdiction in which the person resides unless noted otherwise. Quality and completeness of data may vary across jurisdictions. Influenza vaccination coverage denominators are obtained from 2020 U.S. Census Bureau population estimates.
• Monthly estimates shown are cumulative, reflecting all persons vaccinated from July through a given month of that flu season. Cumulative estimates include any historical data reported since the previous submission. National estimates are not presented since not all U.S. jurisdictions are currently reporting their IIS data to CDC. Jurisdictions reporting data to CDC include U.S. states, some localities, and territories.
• Because IIS data contain all vaccinations administered within a jurisdiction rather than a sample, standard errors were not calculated and statistical testing for differences in estimates across years were not performed.
• Laws and policies regarding the submission of vaccination data to an IIS vary by state, which may impact the completeness of vaccination coverage reflected for a jurisdiction. More information on laws and policies are found at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/iis/policy-legislation.html.
• Coverage estimates based on IIS data are expected to differ from National Immunization Survey (NIS) estimates for children (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/fluvaxview/dashboard/vaccination-coverage-race.html) and adults (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/fluvaxview/dashboard/vaccination-adult-coverage.html) because NIS estimates are based on a sample that may not be representative after survey weighting and vaccination status is determined by survey respondent rather than vaccine records or administrations, and quality and completeness of IIS data may vary across jurisdictions. In general, NIS estimates tend to overestimate coverage due to overreporting and IIS estimates may underestimate coverage due to incompleteness of data in certain jurisdictions.
As of January 17, 2023, 96.3 percent of adults in Ireland had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. According to the manufacturers of the majority of COVID-19 vaccines currently in use in Europe, being fully vaccinated is when a person receives two doses of the vaccine. In Portugal, 94.2 percent of adults had received a full course of the COVID-19 vaccination, as well as 93.9 percent of those in Malta had been fully vaccinated. On the other hand, only 35.8 percent of adults in Bulgaria had been fully vaccinated.
