This tool brings together available indicators at England and local authority levels on the wider determinants of health with links to further resources.

The https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/profile/wider-determinants" class="govuk-link">Wider Determinants of Health tool is designed to:

• draw attention to the broad range of individual, social and environmental factors which influence our health
• provide the public health system with intelligence on the wider determinants of health, to help improve population health and reduce health inequalities

This update contains:

• percentage of people aged 16 to 64 in employment
• percentage of people unemployed (model based)
• percentage of people economically inactive
• gap in the employment rate between those with a physical or mental long term health condition and the overall employment rate
• the percentage of the population with a physical or mental long term health condition in employment
• violent crime - violence offences per 1,000 population
• violent crime - sexual offences per 1,000 population

The tool is an ongoing project and will continue to be developed over time.

This report presents information about the health of people in England and how this has changed over time. Data is presented for England and English regions.

It has been developed by the Department of Health and Social Care and is intended to summarise information and provide an accessible overview for the public. Topics covered have been chosen to include a broad range of conditions, health outcomes and risk factors for poor health and wellbeing. These topics will continue to be reviewed to ensure they remain relevant. A headline indicator is presented for each topic on the overview page, with further measures presented on a detailed page for each topic.

All indicators in health trends in England are taken from https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/" class="govuk-link">a large public health data collection called Fingertips. Indicators in Fingertips come from a number of different sources. Fingertips indicators have been chosen to show the main trends for outcomes relating to the topics presented.

This dataset is derived from reports to Public Health England (PHE) of infectious disease outbreaks in care homes. Care homes in this dataset refers to all supported living facilities such as residential homes, nursing homes, rehabilitation units and assisted living units.

The tables in this publication provide the latest management information on suspected or confirmed outbreaks of COVID-19 for upper tier local authorities, lower tier local authorities, government office regions and PHE centres.

Any individual care home will only be included in the dataset once. If a care home has reported more than one outbreak, only the first is included in this dataset.

As the details of an outbreak are investigated data will be subject to revision and the numbers in this dataset may change in future publications.

This dataset contains no indication of whether the reported outbreaks are still active.

Each weekly total refers to reports in the period Monday to the following Sunday.

As the COVID-19 situation in England continues to evolve, the previous report providing management information on care home outbreaks is no longer appropriate. Therefore, this publication ceased on 23 July 2020.

PHE continues to share all relevant case and outbreak data with local authorities and other stakeholders regularly and is developing additional integrated tools to support their ongoing need for intelligence. The COVID-19 surveillance report is published weekly.

Public Health England (PHE) records and publishes its management committee members’ expenses every 3 months of each financial year.

The cover of vaccination evaluated rapidly programme (COVER) evaluates childhood immunisation in England, collating data for children aged 1, 2 and 5. Data is collected by financial year.

Vaccination coverage statistics quarterly data tables are provisional and give an indication of current coverage.

Vaccination coverage by GP data tables are experimental and should be viewed with caution.

The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) has published the https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/profile/public-health-outcomes-framework" class="govuk-link">Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) quarterly data update for November 2022.

The data is presented in an interactive tool that allows users to view it in a user-friendly format. The data tool also provides links to further supporting information, to aid understanding of public health in a local population.

26 indicators have been updated in this release:

• 5 indicators from the wider determinants domain including employment and violent crime offences indicators
• 7 indicators from the health improvement domain including child and maternal health indicators, smoking status at time of delivery and substance misuse
• 14 population vaccination coverage indicators from the health protection domain

These reports summarise the surveillance of influenza, COVID-19 and other seasonal respiratory illnesses.

Weekly findings from community, primary care, secondary care and mortality surveillance systems are included in the reports.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the 2020 to 2021 season the weekly reports will be published all year round.

This page includes reports published from 8 October 2020 to the 8 July 2021.

Due to a misclassification of 2 subgroups within the Asian and Asian British and Black and Black British ethnic categories, the proportions of deaths for these ethnic categories in reports published between week 27 2021 and week 29 2021 were incorrect. These have been corrected from week 30 2021 report onwards.

The impact of the correction specifically affects the proportion of deaths with an Asian and Asian British and/or Black and Black British ethnic categories. The total number of deaths reported was unaffected. Other ethnicity data included in the reports were not affected by this issue.
