    The number of Pinterest users in Brazil was forecast to continuously increase between 2024 and 2028 by in total 7.1 million users (+15.44 percent). After the ninth consecutive increasing year, the Pinterest user base is estimated to reach 53.09 million users and therefore a new peak in 2028.     As of early 2024, there were 96 million Pinterest users in the United States, making it the country with the most Pinterest users by far. Ranking second was Germany, with 22.5 million users. Pinterest’s audience In the first quarter of 2024, Pinterest had a total of 518 million monthly active users (MAUs) worldwide, an increase of 2 million users from the previous quarter. Throughout 2021, the social media site saw a steady decline in MAUs, after seeing a constant increase throughout 2020. The increase in usage of many social media platforms coincides with the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns. As of April 2024, significantly more women than men used Pinterest, with women making up almost 3/4 of its user base. The platform’s largest audience, in terms of gender and age, was women between the ages of 25 to 34, who accounted for more than a fifth of all users, followed by women aged 18 to 24 years. User satisfaction According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), as of June 2021, Pinterest scored the highest level of customer satisfaction for selected social media sites, ranking ahead of platforms such as YouTube, Wikipedia, and TikTok. Overall, Pinterest received a total score of 78 out of 100 index points. Pinterest’s financials For the financial year 2023, Pinterest generated over 3 billion U.S. dollars in global annual revenue, a rise from the previous year’s result of 2.8 billion U.S. dollars. The majority of this revenue was generated in the United States. Additionally, in the last quarter of 2023, the social media platform reported a net loss of over 200 million U.S. dollars. As of June 2023, Pinterest was one of the biggest consumer internet and online service companies worldwide in terms of market capitalization. With a market cap of 19 billion U.S. dollars, Pinterest ranked in 16th place, ahead of Chewy, Delivery Hero, and Etsy.

    In 2022, Brazil was home to 150.12 million Facebook users. The number has been projected to reach 151.63 in 2027, a drop from the 152.2 million of 2025. Brazil was the largest Facebook user base in Latin America in 2022, followed by Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina.

    The upper hand among heavy users Brazilians spend more time on social media than any other population in the Western Hemisphere. Their heavy use of these platforms contributes to the prevalence of Mark Zuckerberg’s social network. Through Facebook, people in Brazil try to get to know more about the world and to keep in touch with each other: around half of adults on the social network used it as a source of news.

    Limits to growth? In the first half of 2022, Facebook accounted for almost 48.56 percent of all social media site visits in Brazil. Furthermore, throughout the COVID-19 outbreak – the market shares of Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest decreased in Brazil compared with the first half of 2019.

    As of February 2025, India had a total of 413.85 million Instagram users, the largest Instagram audience in the world. The United States had 171.7 million users, and Brazil had 140.7 million. Indonesia, Turkey, and Japan ranked in fourth, fifth and sixth position, respectively. Kazakhstan is the leading country for Instagram audience reach, with 86.2 percent of the population using the social media service.     Between 2019 and 2020, the market shares of Facebook and Pinterest have declined in most of the six largest Latin American markets. In Brazil and Colombia, Facebook's market shared decreased by nearly 15 and 12 percent, respectively. Only in Chile Mark Zuckerberg's flagship saw an increase in market share: it went almost 5.2 percent up. Concurrently, Pinterest's market share in Chile decreased by over a third, while just in Brazil it went up – by around one third as well.

    More videos, anyone? Even though YouTube’s market share in Latin American countries remains somewhat modest – rarely surpassing 15 percent – it has risen amidst COVID-19 outbreak in the region. In Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico, the market share of Google’s video platform increased by approximately 74, 70, and 57 percent, respectively. But not all social media users turned to YouTube more often while quarantining: its market share decreased by almost one fifth in Brazil.

    Instagram, which also belongs to Facebook, Inc., saw a more consistent expansion across Latin America’s key social media markets. In Brazil, its market share increased by nearly two thirds; in Mexico, by more than 50 percent; and in Peru, by over a fourth. Similarly, Twitter recorded growth in most of the countries listed, despite a two percent decrease in market share in Mexico. The market share of this San Francisco-based microblogging service rose by roughly 70 percent in Brazil and by 51 percent in Colombia.
