This dataset contains boundaries for land designated by a local planning authority as being green belt, grouped using the greenbelt core category. It can be used for planning purposes, such as preparing local plans to define areas that are kept permanently open and free from urban sprawl. Local planning authorities provide annual returns in March and we publish the data in autumn. This provides a snapshot in time and won't reflect any changes to green belt boundaries made since the local planning authorities submitted their annual returns.

This is a beta version of the first open planning data map for London. It contains 16 data sets grouped under the headings of 'Good Growth' and 'Constraints'. You are encouraged to explore the map and give us your ideas about how it can be improved. We are also keen to receive suggestions for what information to add next. The Heat Networks Planning Database (HNPD) provides a picture of both district and communal heat network deployment across the UK. It tracks the progress of projects through multiple stages including: inception; planning; construction; operation; and decommissioning. Data is sourced from reviewing planning applications and contacting developers, and is updated during the month following the end of each quarter. HSE’s consultation zones have been developed to assist HSE in its role as a statutory consultee for planning applications around major hazard sites and major accident hazard pipelines. HSE use the consultation zones to provide formal advice to planning authorities when developments are proposed close to sites or pipelines that might lead to an increased population around the major hazard..

The boundaries shown are used to inform the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This information is used by the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) to identify the consultation bodies. These site boundaries may change.
