This dataset contains the merged Planning Registers of participating Irish Local Authorities and includes all Planning Applications received since 2012.

This API method is specifically designed for map integration. It retrieves all planning applications within a specified map tile that match the request parameters. The tile is defined using standard z, x and y parameters, with an extent of 4096 as defined by the Mapbox Vector Tile specification.

For each planning application, the response includes basic information such as the application id and key attributes. This allows for efficient filtering and display on a map. For detailed information, this method is intended to be used in conjunction with the Planning Application by id method, which returns rich data based on the application id.

The type and status fields return normalised values, processed using our internal algorithms to ensure consistency and clarity across all datasets.

These are OS 1:25000 paper maps (approximately 1400) upon which the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (currently Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG)) recorded hand drawn boundaries for permitted, withdrawn and refused mineral planning permissions and worked ground for every local authority area in England. Accompanying the maps is an associated card index (see metadata for MHLG Cards). Priority was placed on areas that were given rise to then current casework issues thus, at the time when the maintenance of the maps ended some authority information had been updated recently but other areas had not been visited for many years. Therefore, the variable completeness of the data should be kept in mind when the material is being used. Both the maps and the card index have been used to create the digital mineral planning permissions polygons (see metadata for MHLG Planning Permission Polygons). Polygons for worked ground have not been captured.

These are scanned and georeferenced raster versions of the 1400 Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHLG) Mineral Planning Permissions Maps (see associated metadata). The 1:25000 scale maps recorded hand drawn boundaries for permitted, withdrawn and refused mineral planning permissions and worked ground for every local authority area in England. Accompanying the maps is an associated card index (see metadata for MHLG Cards). The mineral planning permission polygons recorded on the maps have been digitised to create vector GIS polygons (see associated metadata for MHLG Planning Permission Polygons).

This data contains planning applications from the previous 10 years to the present date. This data shows the approximate extent of planning and other applications processed by the council and should be used alongside the Planning Applications Points dataset, as not every planning application is represented by a polygon. The dataset does not form part of the statutory register of applications, is not guaranteed to be complete and application extents may differ from actual application site boundaries. The plotted areas do not relate to land ownership and should not be used in boundary disputes. Development management is the process of deciding planning applications, including the appeals and review processes. Legislation defines what development activities require planning permission and that decisions are made in keeping with the Development Plan.

Development is defined in the legislation as the carrying out of building, engineering, mining or other operations in, on, over or under land, or the making of any material change in the use of any buildings or other land. The definition also covers changes of use which may not involve physical building work.

The Active Planning Applications data provides information on proposed development applications for the City of Kingston Planning Area and is intended to provide an overview of each. Digital GIS mineral planning permission polygons from 1947 to 1985 as digitised from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government Planning Permission Maps and Cards (see associated metadata for MHLG Maps, Cards and Scanned Maps ). Data digitised included all planning permissions granted, withdrawn and refused for local authority areas for all of England. Currently 32,000 separate planning permission polygons have been captured from the maps and attributed using the associated card index.

This dataset is published as Open Data.Please also note the dataset contains a number of duplicated polygons that share the same geometries but different values. This dataset should therefore be used with these caveats in mind.Development plans set out the long term vision for where development should and shouldn’t happen in the places they cover. The local development plan is the principal land use planning document used in assessing applications for planning permission, based upon national, regional and local policies and proposals. It is the most significant material consideration in determining such applications and reference to the local development plan is essential for most types of proposed development. The main spatial element is typically the policies and proposals map, which is created from the data that is also used in this dataset. Some policies will be plan-wide, and not reproduced spatially, so this dataset contains policy data that is linked to a discrete area within the planning authority area.Update and reference to other datasetsThis dataset will be updated as and when development plans are replaced and formally adopted by authorities, on a minimum quarterly basis in operational terms each year. Local development plans are currently replaced on a five year basis and will be further modified by the forthcoming Planning Act, likely moving to a ten year cycle with interim updates, although it is not yet clear on how updates will be prepared.This dataset should be used in conjunction with other planning related datasets available, notably planning applications, conservation areas, housing land and employment land. There may be some duplication with related layers, due to the ways that particular authorities may share data, and this will be resolved on a layer-by-layer basis as this dataset (and others) are developed. This is also true for some national datasets, such as statutory designations for natural heritage: these typically originate with other agencies although they are often published as part of a local development plan. The Flood Map for Planning Service includes several layers of information. This includes the Flood Zones data which shows the extent of land at present day risk of flooding from rivers and the sea, ignoring the benefits of defences, for the following scenarios:

• Flood Zone 1 – Land having a less than 0.1% (1 in 1000) annual probability of flooding. • Flood Zone 2 – Land having between 0.1% - 1% (1 in 100 to 1 in 1000) annual probability of flooding from rivers or between 0.1% - 0.5% (1 in 200 to 1 in 1000) annual probability of flooding from the sea, and accepted recorded flood outlines . • Flood Zone 3 – Areas shown to be at a 1% (1 in 100) or greater annual probability of flooding from rivers or 0.5% (1 in 200) or greater annual probability of flooding from the sea.

Flood Zone 1 is not shown in this dataset, but covers all areas not contained within Flood Zones 2 and 3. Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) use the Flood Zones to determine if they must consult the Environment Agency on planning applications. They are also used to determine if development is incompatible and whether development is subject to the exception test. The Flood Zones are one of several flood risk datasets used to determine the need for planning applications to be supported by a Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) and subject to the sequential test.

The Flood Zones are a composite dataset including national and local modelled data, and information from past floods.

The Flood Zones are designed to only give an indication of flood risk to an area of land and are not suitable for showing whether an individual property is at risk of flooding. This is because we cannot know all the details about each property.
