Homeowner's Associations (HOAs) are a membership group of people that serves a specific purpose with respect to a specific community or a group of homeowners in a specific geographic area. The homeowner's association usually has a formal structure with elected leaders and rules require membership in the association. The Planning Department maintains a list of organizations to keep residents informed. Developers use our list to publicize their application plans, and we send announcements about planning issues of interest to the community. Providing current email addresses cuts costs and ensures a rapid flow of information.A Civic Association is not a governing body. Since 2011, DOT Bikeways Coordinator has enlisted the help of TEBS-GIS (then DTS) to prepare bikeways data for the annual Bike-to-Work Day folding paper map distributed each Spring. A PDF of the latest map can be downloaded here: https://gis.montgomerycountymd.gov/folding_bike_map/MoCoBike.pdfAs DOT could not provide a constructed date for all bikeways, the First_Map field provides the first year each bikeway appeared on this annual map, as a sort of proxy for when each came into existence. (Again, the first map was produced in 2011, so there are no dates earlier than that.)Major bikeways are given a value of 1 in the Level field. Can be downloaded from the GIS Data Portal here.

The Montgomery Parks trails are used for active and passive recreation and exploring. Much of our trail system is also used for commuting and connecting to the greater street network and trail network of the County. With over 200 miles of natural surface trail, over 70 miles of paved, and paths in nearly every one of our 421 parks, its necessary that each trail segment is recorded as it changes park unit, user type, owner type, surface type, and other aspects.Natural Surface Trails – Natural surface trails are typically narrow (2-4 feet wide) dirt trails. Types of uses associated with these trails are hiking, horseback riding, and all-terrain biking. Unless noted otherwise on the trail map, natural surface trails are “shared by all”.Hard Surface Trails – Hard surface trails may include asphalt paths but they may also be any firm and stable surface capable of supporting casual walkers and cyclists.Park Trails in Montgomery County, MD with emphasis on the M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks network. There is also information on trails provided by other entities. Only officially sanctioned trails are displayed on public interface, however internal users can view trail units in their varying stages of construction or unsanctioned status. The data is used for analysis as it pertains to trail and amenity planning, regional network planning, route and program planning. This metadata record describes the 0.50-foot pixel resolution digital orthoimagery produced for Maryland by the Sanborn Map Company. The orthoimagery provided is 4-band (R, G, B, NIR), 8-bit per pixel and delivered in section tiles in uncompressed 4 band GeoTIFF + TFW in feet and meter, compressed 3 band MG3 SID/SDW (20:1) in feet and meter, 5 band MG4 SID/SDW (20:1) in feet and meter, compressed JP2000 (20:1) in feet and meter, and compressed ECW (25:1) in feet and meter. Additionally, the set includes compressed mosaics in MG3 (20:1) and MG4 (20:1) in feet and meter and ECW (25:1) in feet and meter. The data was collected between February 24, 2023 and March 20, 2023 at an altitude of 12400 feet using an UltraCam Eagle camera and complies with the NSSDA standards, large scale maps at 1" = 200'. This orthoimagery is published in Maryland State Plane, NAD 1983 (2011), U.S. Survey Feet.Since the ortho images are raster products, the logical consistency is based on how well the images fit between image tiles and between individual photo frames used to produce the ortho mosaics. The images match within two pixels of each other throughout the project area. This orthoimagery meets ASPRS Class 1 Accuracy Standards for 1"=200' scale mapping
