Maps produced by the G.M. Hopkins Company have made a lasting impression on the boundaries of many American cities. Between 1870 and 1940, the company produced over 175 atlases and real estate plat maps that primarily covered the Eastern sea board, including cities, counties, and townships in 18 different states and the District of Columbia. In the early years, the company produced county atlases, but gradually focused on city plans and atlases. They were among the first publishers to create a cadastral atlas, a cross between a fire insurance plat and a county atlas prevalent in the 1860s-1870s. These real estate or land ownership maps (also known as plat maps) not only depict property owners, but show lot and block numbers, dimensions, street widths, and other buildings and landmarks, including churches, cemeteries, mills, schools, roads, railroads, lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams.

1855 Map of the city of Pittsburgh with some of the surrounding communities. This map service includes a mosaic of several volumes of plat maps that were originally bound atlases. The mosaic was created using ArcGIS software from the scanned JPEG images, varying from 300-600 dpi. These images were obtained from the Historic Pittsburgh website (http://historicpittsburgh.org/maps-hopkins) The images were georeferenced to WGS84 Web Mercator and the borders were clipped to create a contiguous map.This product is to be used for reference purposes only. The original historical paper maps were sometimes damaged or distorted to varying degrees due to age and use. There are spatial inaccuracies and some places where the footprints do not lineup perfectly or in some cases overlap.

The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2025. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August. Abstract: Boundaries of municipalities within Pennsylvania as delineated for the PennDOT Type 10 general highway maps. Additional information comes from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Municipal Services. This layer contains all classifications of municipality including first and second class townships, boroughs, cities and the town. The shape file reflects a name change from Osborne borough to Glen Osborne borough in Allegheny county and a name change from Abington Township to Waverly Township in Lackawanna county. The shape file also reflects various municipal boundary line tweaks that have occurred since the 2011_01 update. Purpose: Public information and support for transportation planning, design and development. Supplemental_Information: This data is intended for use at 1:24,000 or smaller scale. This layer supercedes and replaces previous versions of padot-borough, padot-city-town, and padot-township.

The files linked to this reference are the geospatial data created as part of the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for Olympic National Park. The vegetation map is a geotiff raster, and at 67MB may be difficult to download. An ArcGIS file geodatabase contains plot data and lookup tables that relate map class units to mapping associations. The geodatabase includes a vegetation Feature dataset with the park boundary and project boundary used in the map. The map development process was organized around the random forests machine learning algorithm. The modeling used 2,980 plots representing 151 vegetation associations and 46 map classes. Imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program and the Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8 satellites, airborne lidar bare earth and canopy height data, elevation data from the U.S. Geological Survey 3D Elevation Program, and climate normals from the PRISM Climate Group were used to develop a variety of predictor metrics. The predictors and the map class calls at each plot were input to a process in which each map class was modeled against every other map class in a factorial random forests scheme. We used plot-level modeling outcomes and species composition data to adjust the crosswalk between association and map class so that floristic consistency and model accuracy were jointly optimized across all classes. The map was produced by predicting the factorial models and selecting the overall best-performing class at each 3-meter pixel.

The PARCELS layer depicts mapped land parcels or real estate properties within Chester County. This data contains geometric representations capturing the general size, shape and location for all of the real estate properties, which can be mapped, on the County's land surface.

These parcel polygon features were adjusted based on aerial photography dated April 7, 1993, and road centerlines, right-of-way lines and other physical features generated from the same photography. While the imagery has a pixel resolution of 1.5 square feet, a positional accuracy of +/- 5 feet and is designed for use at a scale of 1 inch = 200 feet, the resulting PARCELS horizontal accuracy varies from reasonably accurate in the best cases to less accurate in the worst cases. Subsequent and current map update processes include metes and bounds entry from subdivision and deed information, as well as property corner locations based on GPS points and the utilization of our newest imagery datasets. While the update processes include more accurate methods, the resultant overall accuracy is still dependent on the surrounding parcel fabric's varied accuracy. This dataset overlays a grid on the County to assist in locating a parcel. The grid squares are 3,500 by 4,500 square feet. The data was derived from original MAPINDX: Map Index Sheets from Block and Lot Grid of Property Assessment and based on aerial photography. Tiles are numbered in a clockwise spiral fashion starting with #1 at the point in downtown Pittsburgh. Each tile contains 16 Blocks. Each Index Sheet contains 16 lot/block sheets, labeled from left to right, top to bottom (4 across, 4 down): A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, R, S. The first (4) numeric characters in a parcelID indicate the Index sheet in which the parcel can be found, the alpha character identifies the block in which most (or all) of the property lies.

The Parcel GIS Layer for tax assessment is a high-resolution geospatial dataset that defines property boundaries and integrates detailed tax-related attributes within a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment. Each parcel is represented as a polygon feature in a vector data format, accurately georeferenced using standardized coordinate systems (e.g., NAD 1983, State Plane or UTM), and maintained through cadastral mapping practices. This layer combines spatial geometry with attribute tables containing critical tax assessment data such as parcel ID (APN), ownership information, legal descriptions, assessed land and improvement values, exemptions, tax district codes, and land use classifications. GIS functionality enables advanced spatial analysis such as proximity, overlay, and buffering to support equitable property valuation, enforcement of zoning and land use regulations, and identification of assessment trends or anomalies. Data is managed within a geodatabase (e.g., ESRI File Geodatabase or Enterprise Geodatabase), supporting topology rules to ensure geometric integrity (no overlaps or gaps), versioning for multi-user editing, and integration with automated assessment systems (CAMA). The Parcel Layer is also designed to interoperate with orthophotos, zoning layers, utility infrastructure, and demographic datasets, allowing tax authorities to perform cross-analysis and generate thematic maps for public communication and policy-making. Updated regularly through field surveys, deed recordings, and aerial imagery interpretation, the Parcel GIS Layer plays a central role in ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in the property tax assessment process.
