This dataset describes public land management for the State of Victoria, where Public Land is defined as land held by/vested in/or owned by DELWP and other government departments, public authorities, Commonwealth government and municipalities. Refer to VEAC Act 2001 for more details.
Public land includes state forests, parks and reserved and unreserved Crown land, including estuarine, coastal and marine areas to the 3 nautical mile limit (5.5 km) from the high watermark. This layer is represented at a scale of 1:25 000 and describes the primary management, land manager and the VEAC recommendations.

PORTAL, PRIMS are the tabular sources of information. PARKRES, VEACRECS25 and CL_TENURE are the spatial sources. Additional layers were also created to describe areas of state forests, plantations, water frontages and commonwealth land.

The PLMGEN dataset is a generalised view of PLM25 which includes land management information on LCC recs, on ground management, land manager, reserve information and legal information. This dataset is from the PLM25 suite of datasets. It is designed to be used at 1:100 000 scale. This dataset has been simplified, in that only the name field, labelling, management categories and land manager information is shown. All other fields shown in PLM25 are dropped. The data has also been dissolved to reduce the number of polygons.
PLM25 and PLMGEN have replaced the obsolete PLM100 datasets.

This dataset was created in conjunction with PLM25, to represent the management overlays. The attributes are based on the PLM25 structure. The overlays have been mapped at 1:25 000, using VicMap topographic data to create more accurate and identifiable boundaries.
PLM25_OVERLAYS is located under the CROWNLAND schema. It has been created in conjunction with PLM25 to ensure the overlays match the PLM25 land management categories.
PLEASE NOTE: This dataset now replaces the PLM100 overlays.
PLM25_OVERLAYS have been created by loading Reference areas, wilderness zones, heritage rivers, remote and natural areas and natural catchment areas into one dataset. They are also available as separate datasets.
This dataset is a representation of the certified plans - the gazettal and certified plans are the official boundaries.
Currently the creation process is not automated or synchronised with PLM25 updates. For more information please contact the Information Services Division.

The CAR Reserve dataset is derived from the PLM25 and FMZ100 datasets that were extracted in December 2019 and represents the approximate location and extent of areas reserved in dedicated and informal reserves, current as at 31 March 2020. The dedicated reserve reflects the spatial extent of Parks and Reserves from PLM25. The informal reserve reflects spatial extent of Special Protection Zone (SPZ) from the FMZ100 layer. Values protected by prescription, which form part of the informal reserve component of the CAR reserve are not presented in the dataset as values protected by prescription are subject to field verification.
