    Description

Does the person speak a language other than English at home? This map takes a look at answers to this question from Census Night.Colour:For each SA1 geography, the colour indicates which language 'wins'.SA1 geographies not coloured are either tied between two languages or not enough data Colour Intensity:The colour intensity compares the values of the winner to all other values and returns its dominance over other languages in the same geographyNotes:Only considers top 6 languages for VICCensus 2016 DataPacksPredominance VisualisationsSource CodeNotice that while one language level appears to dominate certain geographies, it doesn't necessarily mean it represents the majority of the population. In fact, as you explore most areas, you will find the predominant language makes up just a fraction of the population due to the number of languages considered.

    Description

This dataset provides the population by gender for 2011 in Mainland Australia. The data is aggregated to Local Government Areas (LGA) from the 2011 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). The Industry Atlas of Victoria is a graphic snapshot of the State's economy - in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Highly informative maps have been derived from the 2006 Census, supplemented by up-to-date Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data, to provide insight into the number and distribution of businesses, industries and the workforce. The Atlas provides fascinating information and valuable input into future industry policy development and infrastructure planning.

    Description

The population prospects in the Nile Basin present two maps of human population distribution in the Nile countries: an estimate for 2005, and a projection for 2030. Landscan 2004 provided the geo-referenced base layer. It was combined with the medium demographic growth variant for 2030, obtained for each Nile country from UNDESA. The maps show the high population densities in the Lake Victoria region, the Nile delta and valley, the Ethiopian highlands, and around Khartoum. Outside the Nile valley, large areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Kenya, the Sudan and the United Republic of Tanzania are sparsely populated. It also shown that the settlement pattern in the lower riparians follows the Nile, while in the upper riparians it tends to follow – broadly – rainfall distribution. Data Sources in details: - United Nations Population Division (UNDESA), 2030 medium variant; - US Bureau of Census, 2005; - LandScan 2004 Distributed Population layer; - AFRICOVER urban areas; - ESRI Gazetteer; - Urban polygons digitized by the project for DR Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia.

    Description

This map shows male median income for the male population 15 years of age and over reporting income in 1995 (not including institutional residents). The distribution of incomes above the national male median of $25 270 were most prominent in the urban centres including Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa-Hull, Montréal. However, a number of rural and northern census divisions had incomes above the male national median. These included Prince George in the Fraser Fort-George Regional District and the Peace River Regional District of British Columbia. These high incomes were partially attributed to the higher wages as a result of employment incentives such as living and wage supplements to compensate for the higher costs of living.
