    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the Victoria population over the last 20 plus years. It lists the population for each year, along with the year on year change in population, as well as the change in percentage terms for each year. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population change of Victoria across the last two decades. For example, using this dataset, we can identify if the population is declining or increasing. If there is a change, when the population peaked, or if it is still growing and has not reached its peak. We can also compare the trend with the overall trend of United States population over the same period of time.

    Key observations

In 2023, the population of Victoria was 65,800, a 0.66% increase year-by-year from 2022. Previously, in 2022, Victoria population was 65,367, an increase of 0.29% compared to a population of 65,180 in 2021. Over the last 20 plus years, between 2000 and 2023, population of Victoria increased by 5,208. In this period, the peak population was 67,361 in the year 2016. The numbers suggest that the population has already reached its peak and is showing a trend of decline. Source: U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates Program (PEP).

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Victoria by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Victoria. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Victoria by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Victoria. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Victoria.

    Description

In June 2022, it was estimated that around 7.3 percent of Australians were aged between 25 and 29, and the same applied to people aged between 30 and 34. All in all, about 55 percent of Australia’s population was aged 35 years or older as of June 2022. At the same time, the age distribution of the country also shows that the share of children under 14 years old was still higher than that of people over 65 years old. A breakdown of Australia’s population growth Australia is the sixth-largest country in the world, yet with a population of around 26 million inhabitants, it is only sparsely populated. Since the 1970s, the population growth of Australia has remained fairly constant. While there was a slight rise in the Australian death rate in 2022, the birth rate of the country decreased after a slight rise in the previous year. The fact that the birth rate is almost double the size of its death rate gives the country one of the highest natural population growth rates of any high-income country.
National distribution of the population Australia’s population is expected to surpass 28 million people by 2028. The majority of its inhabitants live in the major cities. The most populated states are New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. Together, they account for over 75 percent of the population in Australia.
