    Description

The undertaking of several studies of political phenomena in social media mandates the operationalization of the notion of political stance of users and contents involved. Relevant examples include the study of segregation and polarization online, the study of political diversity in content diets in social media, or AI explainability. While many research designs rely on operationalizations best suited for the US setting, few allow addressing more general design, in which users and content might take stances on multiple ideology and issue dimensions, going beyond traditional Liberal-Conservative or Left-Right scales. To advance the study of more general online ecosystems, we present a dataset of X/Twitter population of users in the French political Twittersphere and web domains embedded in a political space spanned by dimensions measuring attitudes towards immigration, the EU, liberal values, elites and institutions, nationalism and the environment. We provide several benchmarks validating the positions of these entities (based on both, LLM and human annotations), and discuss several applications for this dataset.

Millennials were the largest generation group in the United States in 2024, with an estimated population of ***** million. Born between 1981 and 1996, Millennials recently surpassed Baby Boomers as the biggest group, and they will continue to be a major part of the population for many years. The rise of Generation Alpha Generation Alpha is the most recent to have been named, and many group members will not be able to remember a time before smartphones and social media. As of 2024, the oldest Generation Alpha members were still only aging into adolescents. However, the group already makes up around ***** percent of the U.S. population, and they are said to be the most racially and ethnically diverse of all the generation groups. Boomers vs. Millennials The number of Baby Boomers, whose generation was defined by the boom in births following the Second World War, has fallen by around ***** million since 2010. However, they remain the second-largest generation group, and aging Boomers are contributing to steady increases in the median age of the population. Meanwhile, the Millennial generation continues to grow, and one reason for this is the increasing number of young immigrants arriving in the United States.

    Description

The Global 15x15 Minute Grids of the Downscaled Population Based on the Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES) B2 Scenario, 1990 and 2025, are geospatial distributions of the downscaled population per Unit area (population densities). These global grids were generated using the Country-level Population and Downscaled Projections Based on the SRES B2 Scenario, 1990-2100 data set, and CIESIN's Gridded Population of World, Version 2 (GPWv2) data set as the base map. The 1990 GPW was used as the base distribution and the country-level downscaled projections were used to replace population estimates of 1990 in GPW and 2025. The fractional distribution of the population at each grid cell is the same as the 1990 GPW, sub-nationally. This data set is produced and distributed by the Columbia University Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN).

Including the County and Plan Details for both ECM and Community Support. This Medi-Cal Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports Calendar Year Quarterly Implementation Report provides a comprehensive overview of ECM and Community Supports implementation in the programs' first year. It includes data at the state, county, and plan levels on total members served, utilization, and provider networks.ECM is a statewide MCP benefit that provides person-centered, community-based care management to the highest need members. The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and its MCP partners began implementing ECM in phases by Populations of Focus (POFs), with the first three POFs launching statewide in CY 2022.Community Supports are services that address members’ health-related social needs and help them avoid higher, costlier levels of care. Although it is optional for MCPs to offer these services, every Medi-Cal MCP offered Community Supports in 2022, and at least two Community Supports services were offered and available in every county by the end of the year.

    Description

The data in the dataset come from the Estonian Statistical Database. Grid-based population data are updated once a year. Census data are georeferenced to building accuracy, which allows data to be aggregated to grid level of different resolution. The building's centroid was used as the basis for aggregating into squares. The data of several buildings within the square were linked to the square where the building's centroid was located. If the population data could not be linked to the building (the data were linked to the building by address and in some cases the address was not identifiable), the data were added in the middle of the village or census station. Counted homeless people are also associated with the village or precinct centre.

The 1 km x 1 km square map of the population covers the whole territory of Estonia, including only inhabited squares. Grid-based data serve as a basis for making competent decisions in the preparation of social plans and development plans, including regional development plans. Grid-based data are used in scientific research, in the private sector mainly to select the best location and to define the target group.

    Data Usage Notice

This version is not recommended for download. Please check the newest version.

We would like to inform you that the updated GlobPOP dataset (2021-2022) have been available in version 2.0. The GlobPOP dataset (2021-2022) in the current version is not recommended for your work. The GlobPOP dataset (1990-2020) in the current version is the same as version 1.0.

Thank you for your continued support of the GlobPOP.

    Introduction

Continuously monitoring global population spatial dynamics is essential for implementing effective policies related to sustainable development, such as epidemiology, urban planning, and global inequality.

Here, we present GlobPOP, a new continuous global gridded population product with a high-precision spatial resolution of 30 arcseconds from 1990 to 2020. Our data-fusion framework is based on cluster analysis and statistical learning approaches, which intends to fuse the existing five products(Global Human Settlements Layer Population (GHS-POP), Global Rural Urban Mapping Project (GRUMP), Gridded Population of the World Version 4 (GPWv4), LandScan Population datasets and WorldPop datasets to a new continuous global gridded population (GlobPOP). The spatial validation results demonstrate that the GlobPOP dataset is highly accurate. To validate the temporal accuracy of GlobPOP at the country level, we have developed an interactive web application, accessible at https://globpop.shinyapps.io/GlobPOP/, where data users can explore the country-level population time-series curves of interest and compare them with census data.

With the availability of GlobPOP dataset in both population count and population density formats, researchers and policymakers can leverage our dataset to conduct time-series analysis of population and explore the spatial patterns of population development at various scales, ranging from national to city level.

    Data description

The product is produced in 30 arc-seconds resolution(approximately 1km in equator) and is made available in GeoTIFF format. There are two population formats, one is the 'Count'(Population count per grid) and another is the 'Density'(Population count per square kilometer each grid)

Each GeoTIFF filename has 5 fields that are separated by an underscore "_". A filename extension follows these fields. The fields are described below with the example filename:

    GlobPOP_Count_30arc_1990_I32

    Field 1: GlobPOP(Global gridded population)
Field 2: Pixel unit is population "Count" or population "Density"
Field 3: Spatial resolution is 30 arc seconds
    Field 4: Year "1990"
    Field 5: Data type is I32(Int 32) or F32(Float32)

    Description

This map shows density surfaces derived from the 2010 US Census block points. This data shows % of people who identified themselves as single race and whiteThe block points were interpolated using the density function to a 2km x 2km grid of the continental US (with water and coastal data masks). There are many stories in these Maps:- What is that clean North/South Line through the center? Why do so many people live East of that line?- Notice the paths of the towns in the west – why are they so linear? And it seems there is a pattern to the spaces between the towns, why?- Looking at the ethnic maps, what explains the patterns? Look at the % Native American map – what are the areas of higher values? (note I did not make a % Asian map as at this scale there was not enough % to show any significant clusters.)
