    Description

A case of pornography addiction with dhat syndrome was diagnosed applying the existing criteria for substance dependence in International Classification for Diseases-10 and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition, Text Revision. There is a lack of clear-cut criteria for identifying and defining such behavioural addictions and also lack of medical documents on pornography addiction. An applied strategy in lines with any substance addiction is used, and we found it helped our patient to gradually deaddict and then completely quit watching pornography. This is one of the few cases being reported scientifically, and we hope more work will be carried out in this ever increasing pornography addiction problem.

    Description

Description The Pornography dataset containing 18,000 different images. For the pornographic class, we have browsed websites which only host that kind of material (solving, in a way, the matter of purpose) and some social media platforms and some images extract from movies. The database consists of several genres of pornography and depicts actors of many ethnicities, including multi-ethnic ones. For the non-pornographic class, we have browsed general-public purpose images platform. In the figure below, we illustrate the diversity of the pornographic images
and the challenges of the non-pornographic ones. The huge diversity of cases in both pornographic and non pornographic images makes this task very challenging.Disclaimer

    Description

IntroductionProblematic online video pornography consumption is associated with sexual objectification, particularly in male consumers. However, previous studies have not considered that there is a subgroup of internet users whose consumption may become problematic due to their internet sex addiction. Such users may, in response to internet sex addiction symptoms such as craving, have increased levels of sexual objectification.MethodsIn a sample of 1,272 male consumers of online video pornography (Mage = 32.93, SDage = 9.44), we examined whether internet sex addiction is linked to sexual objectification via an online survey.ResultsWe fitted a series of structural equation models and found that men who scored higher on internet sex addiction were more likely to objectify women. More importantly, this link did not cease when controlling for the frequency of online video pornography consumption.DiscussionOur findings suggest that there are other mechanisms related to addictive symptomatology than just the link through online video pornography consumption that may contribute to sexual objectification. Addiction-related factors may have a unique role in fostering sexual objectification. Isolating internet sex addiction as a potential driver highlights the need to address objectifying behaviours in individuals struggling with this addiction.

    Description

This is statistical data on the occurrence and arrest of pornography using telecommunication media provided by the Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Affairs Bureau of the National Police Agency. This data shows the number of cases and arrests by year from 2014 to 2024. According to the statistics, pornography crimes using telecommunication media showed a sharp increase from 1,257 cases in 2014 to 10,563 cases in 2022. In particular, the number of cases increased significantly starting in 2020, recording 5,067 cases in 2021 and 10,563 cases in 2022. After that, it showed a downward trend to 8,004 cases in 2023 and 5,858 cases in 2024. The number of arrests also fluctuated similarly to the occurrence trend and maintained a high arrest rate. These statistics provide important information for understanding the spread of new types of crime in the digital environment and the response of investigative authorities to them.

    Description

Image-based sexual abuse (IBSA) is underreported in India like other sexual crimes. In the statistics published by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the distribution of image-based abuse content is clubbed with the distribution of pornography. This method of sorting and logging offences makes it hard to discern incidents of image-based abuse from consensual pornography. Thus, NCRB statistics about the incidence of IBSA are not conclusive. This random sample of about 50 news reports of IBSA incidents that occurred in different parts of the country since 2013 shows that the most frequent impact on victims is suicide or attempted suicide. It also shines a light on the actions of perpetrators that tend to occur in conjunction with the non-consensual capture, creation, publishing or distribution of nude, partially nude or sexually explicit images and videos.

Rohini Lakshané created this document in June 2024 as a part of a series of articles on IBSA for FactorDaily .

The first article in the series, which references this dataset, is published here: The crying shame of image-based abuse

This document contains a random sample that is meant to be indicative, not exhaustive.

The sample was created from top search results on Google News with the country setting restricted to India.

Search strings: revenge porn, morphed nudes, leaked nudes, leaked nude videos, leaked videos OYO hotel

The contents of Column E (Actions of perpetrators in addition to non-consensual shooting and/ or distribution), Column F (Impact on victims) and Column G (Additional notes/ observations) are noted solely on the basis of the contents of the news reports.

In addition, this spreadsheet contains 8 incidents/ cases that were high-profile, that is, they received much public and media attention, and 4 reports that the researcher considers noteworthy.

This dataset avoids the use of the word "blackmail" because of its racist connotations. The words "extortion" and "intimidation" are used instead.

Data is provided AS-IS, without warranty as to accuracy or completeness.
