    Content TitleLot Labels
    Content TypeHosted Feature Layer
DescriptionNSW Land Parcel and Property Theme MultiCRS - Lot is a polygon feature that defines a parcel of land created on a survey plan. Parcel polygons are defined by a series of boundary lines that store recorded dimensions as attributes in the lines table. It visualises these boundaries of land parcels, often buildings on land, the parcel identifier, and basic topographic features.

NSW Land Parcel and Property Theme provides the foundation fabric of land ownership. It consists of the digital cadastral database and associated parcel and property information.

NSW Land Parcel and Property Theme Lot is made up of the following features within the NSW Land Parcel and Property Theme.

    Cadastral Fabric – Lot

Lot - Depicts a parcel of land created on a survey plan. Each lot may be represented by standard lots, standard part lots, strata or stratum. Each lot has a lot number, section number, plan lot area, plan number, plan label, Integrated Titling System (ITS) title status, and stratum label.

Land and property data underpins the economic, social and environmental fabric of NSW and is used, amongst other things, to:
    • Secure tenure for access to capital
    • Define allowable use of land
    • Manage native title, nature conservation, heritage, protection, defence, and disaster management
    • Improve infrastructure and property development planning
    • Inform water and carbon accounting programs
Spatial Services continuously updates the Land Parcel and Property theme with information sourced from relevant stakeholders and custodians. The majority of updates to the datasets in this theme originate from subdivision, registration and gazettal activity.

The data is up to date to within 10 working days from when a plan is lodged at NSW Land Registry Services. Data is also sourced from Crown Lands, the Office of Environment and Heritage, the Aboriginal Land Council, Local Land Services, the Electoral Commission and NSW Trade and Investment.

The Cadastral upgrade program commenced in 2007 and is ongoing, improving the spatial accuracy of different feature classes. Upgrades are carried out in consultation with the relevant Local Government Authority and are further facilitated through the incorporation of data provided by external agencies. Upgrade positional accuracy varies across the state and generally ranges from less than 5m from true position in rural areas to less than 0.2m from true position in urban areas, dependent on the survey control available.

Data quality for both Cadastral Maintenance and Cadastral Upgrade activities are assured through specification compliance and data topology rules. The client delivery database is automatically updated each evening with the changes that occurred that day in the maintenance environment.

Administrative Boundaries Theme – Local Government Area

    Please Note
WGS 84 service aligned to GDA94
This dataset has spatial reference [WGS 84 ≈ GDA94] which may result in misalignments when viewed in GDA2020 environments. A similar service with a ‘multiCRS’ suffix is available which can support GDA2020, GDA94 and WGS 84 ≈ GDA2020 environments.
In due course, and allowing time for user feedback and testing, it is intended that the original service name will adopt the new multiCRS functionality.

Content TitleNSW Administrative Boundaries Theme - Local Government Area
    Content TypeHosted Feature Layer
DescriptionNSW Local Government Area is a dataset within the Administrative Boundaries Theme (FSDF). It depicts polygons of gazetted boundaries defining the Local Government Area. It contains all of the cadastral line data or topographic features which are used to define the boundaries between adjoining shires, municipalities, cities (Local Government Act) and the unincorporated areas of NSW.

The dataset also contains Council Names, ABS Codes, Ito Codes, Vg Codes, and Wb Codes. Any changes that occur to the dataset should have a reference in the authority of reference feature class in the Land Parcel and Property.

Features are positioned in topological alignment within the extents of the land parcel and property polygons for each Local Government Area and are held in alignment, including changes resulting cadastral maintenance and upgrades.

    Description

The Government Property Index (GPI) allows the general public to view and search basic information on NSW Government-owned land and view it on a map through the NSW Planning Portal – Spatial Viewer.

The final dataset was derived through the implementation of the following inputs -

    • GPR

    • Crown Lands (DCDB)

    • National Parks

    • Land Parcels (DCDB)

    • Spatial Services

    • PlanningDB

    • Property (GURAS)

Furthermore, there are five data fields which are in-scope for the GPI -

    1. Lot / Section / Plan

    2. Address

    3. Area

    4. Zone

    5. Local Government Area (LGA)

Two special cases are Crown Land data and National Parks data, which were obtained by ‘intersecting’ the land parcels (Lot/Section/Plan) against the Crown Land Polygon and the National Parks (Estate) Polygon respectively.

Through the combined processing of these inputs into the GPI database, the final spatial data was added onto the NSW Planning Portal – Spatial Viewer for consumption by the public.

    Description
Map Cache Web Service provides rasterised topographic maps in a seamless mosaic view covering NSW. This service generally contains the current standard Topographic maps from the 1:100,000; 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 series.

Where coverage exists at multiple scales, the largest scale map is displayed.

The sourced Geotiff file is cropped to the map window only, with no legend, disclaimers, map grid, scale bar or north arrow displayed. The NSW Topographic Map series is derived from Spatial Services’ Digital Topographic Database (DTDB).

Information viewed in this web service includes:
    • Roads
    • Points of interest
    • Localities
    • Contours
    • Drainage
    • Cultural data
    • Parks and forests
    • Property boundaries.

This web service allows users to easily integrate the topographic map cache coverage for NSW into Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant spatial platforms and applications.

The NSW Topographic Map Cache web service can be used for mapping, emergency services, natural resource management, geosciences and sustainable development.

This service ensures users are able to consume topographic map data without the requirement of hosting the map files on their own servers. It is important to note that depictions of roads and tracks do not necessarily indicate a public right of way.

Unlawful entry upon private land or a restricted area and/or wilful damage of property such as gates and fences expose offenders to legal prosecution.

    Please Note

    WGS 84 = GDA94 service

This dataset has a spatial reference of [WGS 84 = GDA94] and can NOT be easily consumed into GDA2020 environments. A similar service with a ‘multiCRS’ suffix is available which can support GDA2020, GDA94 and WGS84 = GDA2020 environments. In due course, and allowing time for user feedback and testing, it is intended that these original services will adopt the new multiCRS functionality.

    Metadata Portal Metadata Information

Content TitleNSW Features of Interest Category - Place Area
    Content TypeHosted Feature Layer
DescriptionPlace Area is a polygon feature class defining a named place.

Themes included in the Place Area include:

Region - A region is a relatively large tract of land distinguished by certain common characteristics, natural or cultural. Natural unifying features could include same drainage basin, similar landforms, or climatic conditions, a special flora or fauna, or the like. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the region dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

Locality - A bounded area within the landscape that has a rural character. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the locality dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

City - A centre of population, commerce and culture with all essential services; a town of significant size and importance, generally accorded the legal right to call itself a city under, either, the Local Government Act, the Crown Lands Act or other instruments. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the city dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

Village - A cohesive populated place in a rural landscape, which may provide a limited range of services to the local area. Residential subdivisions are in urban lot sizes. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the village dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets

Town - A commercial nucleus offering a wide range of services and a large number of shops, often several of the same type. Depending on size, the residential area can be relatively compact or (in addition) dispersed in clusters on the periphery. This polygon feature dataset is Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the town dataset align to the Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

Suburb - A gazetted boundary of a suburb or locality area as defined by the Geographical Names Board of NSW. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the suburb dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

Urban Place - A place, site or precinct in an urban landscape, the name of which is in current use, but the limits of which have not been defined under the address locality program. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the urban place dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

Rural Place - A place, site or precinct in a rural landscape, generally of small extent, the name of which is in current use. This polygon feature dataset is part of Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets. Where possible, polygon geometries of the rural place dataset align to Spatial Services Defined Administrative Data Sets.

The Survey Control Information Management System (SCIMS) is a database that contains the coordinates, heights and related attributes for Permanent Survey Marks (PSMs) constituting the State Control Survey. SCIMS online is a tool which enables users to discover and download data related to each survey mark contained within SCIMS. This includes position, accuracy, source and all other technical information, required by surveyors, to fulfil their obligations under NSW legislation when undertaking surveys and creating survey plans.

The NSW Survey Mark app allows users to search and view the location of any permanent survey marks across the state, access mark details or report a change in its status.

    NSW Physiography Category multiCRS

MultiCRS service - supporting requests in multiple Coordinate Reference Systems - Information Sheet

A new series of ‘multiCRS’ web services have been published to support GDA2020. These new ‘multiCRS’ services:

    · have a spatial reference of GDA2020

    · support alignment with GDA2020, GDA94 or [WGS 84-aligned-to-GDA2020] GIS environments,
    using built-in server-side transformations:

    o GDA94 < NTv2-CPD > GDA2020

    o GDA94 < NTv2-CPD > WGS 84 aligned to GDA2020

    o GDA2020 < NULL > WGS 84 aligned to GDA2020

Note: ESRI software will automatically align by transforming from the sourceSpatialReference (GDA94).
Other software may need to set client-side transformations from the SpatialReference (GDA2020).

Note: Client-side transformation(s) can be used to over-ride these default transformations.

The original [WGS 84-aligned-to-GDA2020] is still available, without the ‘multiCRS’ suffix. In due course, and allowing time for user feedback and testing, it is intended that the original service name will adopt this new 'multiCRS' functionality.
