Increased productivity is the main contributor to growth in U.S. agriculture. This data set provides estimates of productivity growth in the U.S. farm sector for the 1948-2011 period, and estimates of the growth and relative levels of productivity across the States for the period 1960-2004.This record was taken from the USDA Enterprise Data Inventory that feeds into the https://data.gov catalog. Data for this record includes the following resources: Web page with links to Excel files For complete information, please visit https://data.gov.
In the United States, the manufacturing sector productivity increased by one percent during the third quarter of 2024. The data are seasonally adjusted at annual rates. Productivity describes the relationship between real output and the labor time involved in its production. They show the changes from period to period in the amount of goods and services produced per hour.
A survey conducted in 2022 found that members of Generation Z were the least likely to say they were just as productive when working from home versus working in the office. In contrast, nearly three times the number of Baby Boomers said they were just as productive working from home versus the office.
In 2022, the gross domestic product per hour worked in the United States amounted to 107.22 constant 2010 PPP U.S. dollars. This is a decrease from the previous year when GDP per hour worked amounted to 108.39 U.S. dollars. See the US GDP for further information.
Generative AI will have a much greater impact on U.S. productivity if adapted in early scenarios rather than later scenarios. This is consistent with the overall requirement to shift labor hours to more effective use as automation increases between 2022 and 2040. The U.S. would see nearly a doubling of productivity growth in the late automation scenario with the use of generative AI.

Ireland: GDP per hour worked, index relative to the U.S.: The latest value from 2022 is 177.64 index points, an increase from 170.07 index points in 2021. In comparison, the world average is 81.93 index points, based on data from 37 countries. Historically, the average for Ireland from 1970 to 2022 is 84.34 index points. The minimum value, 40.53 index points, was reached in 1971 while the maximum of 177.64 index points was recorded in 2022.
In 2021, the minimum wage in the United States would be 22.88 U.S. dollars an hour if it grew with productivity. However, the current federal minimum wage in the United States 7.25 U.S. dollars an hour and has remained unchanged since 2009.
In 1870, labor productivity in Western Europe was approximately 70 percent of labor productivity in the United States. This rate gradually fell over the next 80 years, to less than half of the U.S. rate by 1950. In Southern and Eastern Europe, productivity was less than half of Western Europe's rate and more than half a century behind. Over this period, much of Western Europe was devastated by two world wars; while the U.S.' industrial development was not hindered in the same way and structurally, the U.S. was largely untouched by the war. By the end of the century, Western Europe had mostly caught up with the U.S.. Although overall productivity in the EU in 1990 was 90 percent of the U.S.' rate, there were some individual countries, such as Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and France, where GDP per capita or productivity were actually higher than in the U.S..
During the second quarter of 2024, the nonfinancial corporate sector productivity increased by 3.1 percent in comparison to the previous quarter in the United States. The data are seasonally adjusted at annual rates. Productivity describes the relationship between real output and the labor time involved in its production. They show the changes from period to period in the amount of goods and services produced per hour.

The NDVI is converted to production estimates using two regression formulas depending on the level of the NDVI; there is one equation for lower values (and thus lower production values) and one for higher values. This raster dataset yields estimates of annual production of rangeland vegetation and should be useful for understanding trends and variability in forage resources. These results were then converted to Z-scores for easier comparison of annual relative productivity in coterminous U.S. rangelands, and for rapid display in online time-enabled applications. This Z-scores dataset as well as the raw lbs/acre data that the Z-scores were derived from can be downloaded from: https://data.fs.usda.gov/geodata/rastergateway/rangelands/index.phpMore information about rangeland productivity and the effects of drought are available in this story map.

The more powerful the artificial intelligence (AI) used, the more impressive the benefits on labor productivity will be. This is consistent for those companies adopting AI over a 10 year period, with 20 year and 30 year periods all both demonstrating a far slower increase in productivity. The displacement of labor is far less drastic if companies are willing to employ more powerful AI models.
