Parcels delineate the approximate boundaries of property ownership as described in Napa County deeds, filed maps, and other source documents. GIS parcel boundaries are maintained by the Information Technology Services GIS team. Assessor Parcel Maps are created and maintained by the Assessor Division Mapping Section. Each parcel has an Assessor Parcel Number (APN) that is its unique identifier. The APN is the link to various Napa County databases containing information such as owner name, situs address, property value, land use, zoning, flood data, and other related information. Data for this map service is sourced from the Napa County Parcels dataset which is updated nightly with any recent changes made by the mapping team. There may at times be a delay between when a document is recorded and when the new parcel boundary configuration and corresponding information is available in the online GIS parcel viewer.From 1850 to early 1900s assessor staff wrote the name of the property owner and the property value on map pages. They began using larger maps, called “tank maps” because of the large steel cabinet they were kept in, organized by school district (before unification) on which names and values were written. In the 1920s, the assessor kept large books of maps by road district on which names were written. In the 1950s, most county assessors contracted with the State Board of Equalization for board staff to draw standardized 11x17 inch maps following the provisions of Assessor Handbook 215. Maps were originally drawn on linen. By the 1980’s Assessor maps were being drawn on mylar rather than linen. In the early 1990s Napa County transitioned from drawing on mylar to creating maps in AutoCAD. When GIS arrived in Napa County in the mid-1990s, the AutoCAD images were copied over into the GIS parcel layer. Sidwell, an independent consultant, was then contracted by the Assessor’s Office to convert these APN files into the current seamless ArcGIS parcel fabric for the entire County. Beginning with the 2024-2025 assessment roll, the maps are being drawn directly in the parcel fabric layer.Parcels in the GIS parcel fabric are drawn according to the legal description using coordinate geometry (COGO) drawing tools and various reference data such as Public Lands Survey section boundaries and road centerlines. The legal descriptions are not defined by the GIS parcel fabric. Any changes made in the GIS parcel fabric via official records, filed maps, and other source documents are uploaded overnight. There is always at least a 6-month delay between when a document is recorded and when the new parcel configuration and corresponding information is available in the online parcel viewer for search or download.Parcel boundary accuracy can vary significantly, with errors ranging from a few feet to several hundred feet. These distortions are caused by several factors such as: the map projection - the error derived when a spherical coordinate system model is projected into a planar coordinate system using the local projected coordinate system; and the ground to grid conversion - the distortion between ground survey measurements and the virtual grid measurements. The aim of the parcel fabric is to construct a visual interpretation that is adequate for basic geographic understanding. MassGIS' standardized ("Level 3") property tax parcel mapping data set was developed through a competitive procurement funded by MassGIS. Each community in the Commonwealth was bid on by one or more vendors and the unit of work awarded was a city or town. The specification for this work was Level 3 of the MassGIS Digital Parcel Standard. Standardization of assessor parcel mapping is complete for all 351 Massachusetts' cities and towns. MassGIS is now incorporating updates from municipalities into the database. This hosted feature layer is exported from MassGIS' internal database of the feature class GISDATA.L3_TAXPAR_POLY_ASSESS, which links L3_TAXPAR_POLY and L3_ASSESS. The export includes the expression: (POLY_TYPE IN ('FEE', 'TAX')) OR (POLY_TYPE IN ('ROW', 'PRIV_ROW', 'RAIL_ROW', 'WATER') AND PROP_ID IS NOT NULL) It contains several fields from GISDATA.L3_ASSESS and stacked polygons where multiple assessor records link to a parcel. It contains features that do not have an associated record in GISDATA.L3_ASSESS, except for rights of way and water bodies. ROWs and water bodies with a non-null PROP_ID are included. Lake County's parcel coverage is based on resolving the accumulated evidence of all of the legal documents surrounding a particular parcel or subdivision, and not the result of a countywide resurvey. These parcel boundaries are intended to be a visual inventory of property for tax and other administrative purposes; they are not intended to be used in place of an on-site survey or for the precise determination of property corners or PLSS features based on GIS coordinates. In Illinois, only a registered professional land surveyor is authorized to determine boundary locations. Included are the tax parcel boundaries, represented as polygons and centroids, for all changes resulting from legal records submitted to the Recorder of Deeds up to December 31st of the preceding year, as well as any court orders, municipal annexations and other transactions which impact the tax parcel boundaries. NOTE: The ONLY attribute included is the Property Index Number, or PARCEL_NUM. TheFlorida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions between March 15 to April 1, 2023. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August.    Description


   Assessments & Taxation (A&T) Database from MD Property View 2004 for Howard County. The A&T Database contains parcel data from the State Department of Assessments and Taxation; it incorporates parcel ownership and address information, parcel valuation information and basic information about the land and structure(s) associated with a given parcel. These data form the basis for the 2004 Database, which also includes selected Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) characteristics, text descriptions to make parcel code field data more readily accessible and logical True/False fields which identify parcels with certain characteristics. Documentation for A&T, including a thorough definition for all attributes is enclosed.    It should be noted that the A&T Database consists of points and not parcel boundaries. For those areas where parcel polygon data exists the A&T Database can be joined using the ACCTID or a concatenation of the BLOCK and LOT fields, whichever is appropriate. (Spaces may have to be excluded when concatenating the BLOCK and LOT fields).


   A cursory review of the 2004 version of the A&T Database indicates that it has more accurate data when compared with the 2003 version, particularly with respect to dwelling types. However, for a given record it is not uncommon for numerous fields to be missing attributes. Based on previous version of the A&T Database it is also not unlikely that some of the information is inaccurate. This layer was edited to remove points that did not have a valid location because they failed to geocode. There were 1160 such points. A listing of the deleted points is in the table with the suffix "DeletedRecords."

County footprint polygons display when zoomed out beyond 1:37,050-scale. Tax parcel polygons display when zoomed in below 1:37,051-scale. The NYS Tax Parcels Public layer contains 2023-2024 parcel data only for NY State counties which gave NYS ITS Geospatial Services permission to share this data with the public. Work to obtain parcel data from additional counties, as well as permission to share the data, is ongoing. To date, 36 counties have provided Geospatial Services permission to share their parcel data with the public. Parcel data for counties which do not allow Geospatial Services to redistribute their data must be obtained directly from those counties. Geospatial Services' goal is to eventually include parcel data for all counties in New York State. Parcel geometry was incorporated as received from County Real Property Departments. No attempt was made to edge-match parcels along adjacent counties. County attribute values were populated using 2023-2024 Assessment Roll tabular data the NYS ITS Geospatial Services obtained from the NYS Department of Tax and Finance’s Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS). Tabular assessment data was joined to the county provided parcel geometry using the SWIS & SBL or SWIS & PRINT KEY unique identifier for each parcel. This dataset is designed to represent and identify the property boundaries in Lexington-Fayette County. The original dataset was created in late 1990's by a third party that converted existing paper maps to digital GIS files. The data has since been updated by georeferencing recorded plats for corrections and new additions. In cases where the plats do not appear accurate, aerial photos are utilized in attempt to properly locate the property lines. The only except for this process are changes to highway right-of-way in which calls are run from deeds. The geometry of this data is not of survey quality and should not be used for survey purposes. The data is intended for general reference purposes only.As part of the basemap data layers, the parcel boundary map layer is an integral part of the Lexington Fayette-Urban County Government Geographic Information System. Basemap data layers are accessed by personnel in most LFUCG divisions for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production. More advanced user applications may focus on thematic mapping, summarization of data by geography, or planning purposes (including defining boundaries, managing assets and facilities, integrating attribute databases with geographic features, spatial analysis, and presentation output).
