This cartographic quality series of 1:50 000 scale monochrome maps cover the provincial extent of Alberta comprised of 764 maps that are individually named using the National Topographic System (NTS) map sheet identifier. These maps display the Alberta Township System (ATS), hydrographic features, municipalities, roads, cutlines, facilities, pipelines, powerlines, railways, select geo-administrative features (parks, reserves, etc.). At this scale 1.0 cm on the map represents 0.5 km on the ground. Each map covers an area of 0.50 degree longitude by 0.25 degree latitude. This product can be viewed on a computer, printed or be plotted in part or in whole. All maps contained within a 1:250 000 block (generally up to 16 map sheets) will be included in the NTS Block download. This series is not updated on a regular basis and may contain a range of publication dates.

These grid files were used to produce gravity and basin depth maps of the Basin and Range Province, western United States. The maps show gravity values and modeled basin depths in this area. The data were compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey, Denver, Colorado. This data base was received in June, 1995. For further information see the readme.txt file in this directory(data\grids\basinrng), and the "Gravity and Basin-Depth Maps of the Basin and Range Province, Western United States", by R.W. Saltus and R.C. Jachens, Map GP-1012.

The Arctic has a relatively consistent core ofplant species that occur throughout the circumpolar region, but there is also considerable east to west variation in regional floras, particularly in the southern bioclimate subzones. These differences are due to factors such as different histories related to glaciations, land bridges, and north-south trending mountain ranges that have influenced the exchange of species between parts of the Arctic. Floristic provinces are used to explain the east-west variation in species distribution in the Arctic. Alaska is included within the Beringian Floristic Province, and includes three of the 23 circumpolar Sub-Provinces: North Beringian Islands, Beringian Alaska, and Northern Alaska (Yurtsev 1994, Walker 2005). Floristic provinces were mapped from the Panarctic Flora Initiative (Elvebakk et al. 1999), based largely on Yurtsev (1994). The boundaries were then adjusted to follow vegetation polygon boundaries. The vegetation polygons are drawn at a much finer resolution than the floristic province boundaries, so little information was lost in this process. The province of Fryslân has had sound maps drawn up. With the help of advanced calculation models, the noise pollution has been made transparent for homes, buildings with an education or health function and quiet areas. In terms of figures, a distinction has been made between the roads that must be inspected (provincial roads with 3 million or more vehicle passages) and all provincial roads. The present file contains the provincial roads used in the creation of the sound map.
