    Description
iGIS is Bedford County’s official public GIS application, developed and hosted by InteractiveGIS. It allows users to view and interact with a wide range of geospatial data, including property ownership, zoning, flood zones, historical aerial imagery, and more.

This application replaces the legacy ParcelViewer platform (retired 8/8/2025) and offers an enhanced, mobile-friendly interface.

    Key features include:

    • Property lookups by address, owner, or parcel ID
    • Zoning and land use information
    • Historical aerial imagery — VGIN Orthoimagery, from the Virginia Base Mapping Program (VBMP)
      • 2002
      • 2007
      • 2011
      • 2015
      • 2018
      • 2022
    • Deatils about property valuations, ownership history, and improvement information
    • Public school districts, voting precincts, and emergency service zones
    • Environmental layers, hydrography, utility data, and more

Note: The application opens to a login screen, but public access is available—just click through the disclaimer to continue.

Mobile compatible — works on modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Need help? Use the Help link in the left-hand menu once inside the app. You’ll also find a feedback form there or access it directly here: iGIS Feedback Survey.

Data updates: Real estate and parcel data is updated monthly, with plans to increase update frequency in the future.

    Description

This abstract contains links to public ArcGIS maps that include locations of carbonate springs and some of their characteristics. Information for accessing and navigating through the maps are included in a PowerPoint presentation IN THE FILE UPLOAD SECTION BELOW. Three separate data sets are included in the maps:

    1. Geochemistry data from the US Water Quality Portal (WQP), which compiles geochemistry data from the USGS and other federal agencies.
    2. Discharge data from WoKaS, a world wide spring discharge data set (Olarinoye et al., 2020).
    3. Regional karst data from selected US state agencies.

Several base maps are included in the links. The US carbonate map describes and categorizes carbonates (e.g., depth from surface, overlying geology/ice, climate). The carbonate springs map categorizes springs as being urban, specifically within 1000 ft of a road, or rural. The basis for this categorization was that the heat island effect defines urban as within a 1000 ft of a road. There are other methods for defining urban versus rural to consider. Map links and details of the information they contain are listed below.

Map set 1: The WQP map provides three mapping options separated by the parameters available at each spring site. These maps summarize discrete water quality samples, but not data logger availability. Information at each spring provides links for where users can explore further data.

Option 1: WQP data with urban and rural springs labeled, with highlight of springs with or without NWIS data https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=2ce914ec01f14c20b58146f5d9702d8a

Options 2: WQP data by major ions and a few other solutes https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5a114d2ce24c473ca07ef9625cd834b8

Option 3:WQP data by various carbon species https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=ae406f1bdcd14f78881905c5e0915b96

Map 2: The worldwide carbonate map in the WoKaS data set (citation below) includes a description of carbonate purity and distribution of urban and rural springs, for which discharge data are available: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/mapviewer/index.html?webmap=5ab43fdb2b784acf8bef85b61d0ebcbe.

Global karst springs hydrograph dataset for research and management of the world’s fastest-flowing groundwater. Scientific Data, 7(1), pp.1-9.

Map 3: Karst and spring data from selected states: This map includes sites that members of the RCN have suggested to our group.

This data set is incomplete (as of October 13, 2022 it includes Florida and Missouri). We are looking for more information. You can share data links to additional data by typing them into the hydroshare page created for our group. Then new sites will periodically be added to the map: https://www.hydroshare.org/resource/0cf10e9808fa4c5b9e6a7852323e6b11/

Acknowledgements: These maps were created by Michael Jones, University of Arkansas and Shishir Sarker, University of Kentucky with help from Laura Toran and Francesco Navarro, Temple University.

TIPS FOR NAVIGATING THE MAPS ARE IN THE POWERPOINT DOCUMENT IN THE FILE UPLOAD SECTION BELOW.

    Description

This feature class is the BLM Natl GTLF Public Motorized Roads subset of the feature dataset containing the BLM Ground Transportation Linear Features. A linear feature for ground transportation includes roads, primitive roads, primitive routes, trails, temporary routes, and linear disturbances. The Ground Transportation Linear Feature (GTLF) data standard provides a national geospatial data standard of the ground transportation linear features in BLM’s Enterprise GIS (E-GIS). A national BLM GTLF data standard is essential for collecting the landscape-scale data necessary to identify management opportunities and challenges that may not be evident when managing smaller land areas. GTLF data not only serve the crucial function of improving BLM transportation planning, but is also invaluable to numerous other BLM programs affected by transportation (e.g. water and air quality, wildlife habitat fragmentation, engineering, realty, cultural resources). This dataset is a subset of the official national dataset, containing features and attributes intended for public release and has been optimized for online map service performance. The Schema Workbook represents the official national dataset from which this dataset was derived.

    Description

This geodatabase serves two purposes: 1) to provide State of Illinois agencies with a fast resource for the preparation of maps and figures that require the use of shape or line files from federal agencies, the State of Illinois, or the City of Chicago, and 2) as a start for social scientists interested in exploring how geographic information systems (whether this is data visualization or geographically weighted regression) can bring new meaning to the interpretation of their data. All layer files included are relevant to the State of Illinois. Sources for this geodatabase include the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Geological Survey, City of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Transit Authority, Regional Transportation Authority, and Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

    Description

In support of new permitting workflows associated with anticipated WellSTAR needs, the CalGEM GIS unit extended the existing BLM PLSS Township & Range grid to cover offshore areas with the 3-mile limit of California jurisdiction. The PLSS grid as currently used by CalGEM is a composite of a BLM download (the majority of the data), additions by the DPR, and polygons created by CalGEM to fill in missing areas (the Ranchos, and Offshore areas within the 3-mile limit of California jurisdiction).CalGEM is the Geologic Energy Management Division of the California Department of Conservation, formerly the Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (as of January 1, 2020).Update Frequency: As Needed
