Public Housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. There are approximately 1.2 million households living in public housing units, managed by over 3,300 housing agencies (HAs). HUD administers Federal aid to local housing agencies (HAs) that manage the housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing and managing these developments. Location data for HUD-related properties and facilities are derived from HUD's enterprise geocoding service. While not all addresses are able to be geocoded and mapped to 100% accuracy, we are continuously working to improve address data quality and enhance coverage. Affordable housing production and preservation projects are managed by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), the DC Housing Authority, the DC Housing Finance Agency and DC's Inclusionary Zoning program. This dataset comprehensively covers affordable housing projects which started (i.e. reached financial closing and/or started construction) or completed since January of 2015. The data includes affordable housing projects (production and preservation, rental and for-sale) which were subsidized by DMPED, DHCD, DCHFA, or DCHA, and those which were produced as a result of Planned Unit Development (PUD) proffers or Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) requirements.
This dataset provides information on Tempe's subsidized housing program. Tempe has a fixed number of Housing Choice Vouchers (HCVs) based on our HUD contract, which represents the maximum number of families that the Housing Authority could assist. Congress and HUD do not fund the program to assist all of the families we are allotted to assist. We can only assist the number of families we have the budget to assist. HUD provides an initial funding amount based on what they anticipate they will allocate to housing assistance payments. The actual amount of funding received is subject to change depending on Federal Budget priorities, Congressional approval and many other factors. Expenditures are reported monthly, as HUD requires expenses to be posted in the month they were incurred rather than the month the expense was paid. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program assists very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled in obtaining decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.
Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) receive federal funds from HUD to administer the voucher program, and housing subsidies are paid to the landlord directly by the PHA on behalf of the participating family. The voucher recipient remains responsible for paying any difference that exists between the actual rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program.
Voucher recipients are responsible for finding a suitable housing unit where the owner agrees to rent under the program. Because housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are free to choose their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments provided that the chosen housing meets the requirements of the program, and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects. Qualified housing may also include the family's present residence. Furthermore, under certain circumstances, and if authorized by the PHA, a family may use its voucher to purchase a modest home. Please note that to restrict access to tenant information HCV locations are identified in public records by the owner, and not the tenant. Public data pertaining to the locations of HCV program participants are only available as U.S. Census Tract aggregations. Moreover, to protect the confidentiality of those receiving Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance, tracts containing 10 or fewer voucher holders have been omitted from this service. This dataset includes both tenant-based vouchers and project-based vouchers. The Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership is a voluntary federal-state enterprise created for the purpose of merging employee, and employer data to provide a set of enhanced labor market statistics known collectively as Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI). The QWI are a set of economic indicators including employment, job creation, earnings, and other measures of employment flows. For the purposes of this dataset, LED data for 2018 is aggregated to Census Summary Level 070 (State + County + County Subdivision + Place/Remainder), and joined with the Home Investment Partnership (HOME) Program grantee areas spatial dataset for FY2018. Authorized under Title II of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act, the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) is designed exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income households. Each year the HOME Program allocates approximately $2 billion to fund the development, purchase, or rehabilitation of affordable housing, and to provide direct rental assistance.

HUD’s Multifamily Housing property portfolio consist primarily of rental housing properties with five or more dwelling units such as apartments or town houses, but can also include nursing homes, hospitals, elderly housing, mobile home parks, retirement service centers, and occasionally vacant land. HUD provides subsidies and grants to property owners and developers in an effort to promote the development and preservation of affordable rental units for low-income populations, and those with special needs such as the elderly, and disabled. The portfolio can be broken down into two basic categories: insured, and assisted. The three largest assistance programs for Multifamily Housing are Section 8 Project Based Assistance, Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly, and Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities. The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is a federal block grant distributed (via formula) to states and local governments. Recipients use the grant funds to carry out housing, economic development, and public improvement efforts that serve low, and moderate-income communities. The Deteriorated Paint Index (DPI) data predicts areas at-risk of containing several pre-1980 households with large areas of deteriorated paint, a significant and common predictor of lead dust. Funding for remediation and abatement is limited. To adequately target households eligible for home remediation and associated intervention efforts, local healthy homes and environmental health program administrators must identify neighborhoods that are the most “at risk” of residential lead exposure where deteriorated paint is the primary source. To address this need, the DPI uses household-level data to predict a household’s risk of deteriorated paint. Predicted risk scores were calculated using microdata from the 2011 American Housing Survey (AHS) and the 2009-2013 American Community Survey (ACS) to develop a predicted risk measure. This metric estimates the predicted percentage of occupied housing units with large areas of deteriorated paint for three geographic levels: state, county, and tract. The primary methodological goal of the analysis was to post-fit ACS households with beta parameters from an AHS model that predicted the presence of a large area of deteriorated paint. Prior research shows this methodology can be used for small area estimation.Analyses were conducted using SAS Version 9.1.4 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC). Household-level ACS and AHS microdata were used. Analyses were conducted in a Census-approved partner institution Federal Statistical Research Data Center. Exposure to residential lead dust will continue to be a public health problem until housing with deteriorated lead paint is remediated. Public Housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to high-rise apartments for elderly families. There are approximately 1.2 million households living in public housing units, managed by over 3,300 housing agencies (HAs). HUD administers Federal aid to local housing agencies (HAs) that manage the housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing and managing these developments. Location data for HUD-related properties and facilities are derived from HUD's enterprise geocoding service. While not all addresses are able to be geocoded and mapped to 100% accuracy, we are continuously working to improve address data quality and enhance coverage. Please consider this issue when using any datasets provided by HUD. When using this data, take note of the field titled “LVL2KX” which indicates the overall accuracy of the geocoded address using the following return codes: ‘R’ - Interpolated rooftop (high degree of accuracy, symbolized as green) ‘4’ - ZIP+4 centroid (high degree of accuracy, symbolized as green) ‘B’ - Block group centroid (medium degree of accuracy, symbolized as yellow) ‘T’ - Census tract centroid (low degree of accuracy, symbolized as red) ‘2’ - ZIP+2 centroid (low degree of accuracy, symbolized as red) ‘Z’ - ZIP5 centroid (low degree of accuracy, symbolized as red) ‘5’ - ZIP5 centroid (same as above, low degree of accuracy, symbolized as red) Null - Could not be geocoded (does not appear on the map) For the purposes of displaying the location of an address on a map only use addresses and their associated lat/long coordinates where the LVL2KX field is coded ‘R’ or ‘4’. These codes ensure that the address is displayed on the correct street segment and in the correct census block. The remaining LVL2KX codes provide a cascading indication of the most granular level geography for which an address can be confirmed. For example, if an address cannot be accurately interpolated to a rooftop (‘R’), or ZIP+4 centroid (‘4’), then the address will be mapped to the centroid of the next nearest confirmed geography: block group, tract, and so on. When performing any point-in polygon analysis it is important to note that points mapped to the centroids of larger geographies will be less likely to map accurately to the smaller geographies of the same area. For instance, a point coded as ‘5’ in the correct ZIP Code will be less likely to map to the correct block group or census tract for that address.
