    Description

The Public Service Employee Survey provides information to help improve people management practices in the federal public service. Departments and agencies will be able to identify their areas of strength and concern related to topics such as: employee engagement, anti-racism, equity and inclusion and workplace well-being. The survey results track progress over time to help develop and refine action plans. Employees are given an opportunity to share their experiences to help improve the quality of the federal workplace. Better people management leads to better results for the public service and Canadians. Statistics Canada administered the 2022/2023 Public Service Employee Survey in partnership with the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. 189,584 employees in 90 federal departments and agencies responded to the 2022/2023 Public Service Employee Survey, for a response rate of 53%.

    Description

The Public Service Employee Survey (PSES) is led by the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat), in collaboration with Statistics Canada. The survey, which has been conducted every three years since 1999, measures federal public servants’ opinions in relation to employee engagement, leadership, the workforce and the workplace. The 2014 PSES was conducted between August 25 and October 3, 2014. A total of 182,165 employees in 93 federal departments and agencies responded to the survey, for a response rate of 71.4%. 2014 Data files contain the PSES results by year (2014, 2011 and 2008) for the Public Service and departments/agencies, and results broken down by demographic characteristics (e.g., age, occupational group) and departments/agencies' organizational structure. Results for 2011 and 2008 are only provided for questions repeated in the 2014 PSES. Notice of correction: Datasets have been revised and updated on March 5, 2015. Results pertaining to duty to accommodate (questions 81, 82 and 83) and results broken down by question 86 (shift worker), which were not available at the time of publication, have been added to the datasets. Results broken down by question 90 (occupational groups), question 91 (occupational levels) and variable K_D90G (occupational category derived from question 90) have been revised and updated. Datasets have also been revised and updated on May 20, 2015. Results for the LA and LP occupational groups and certain organizational units within certain departments and agencies have been revised and updated; this does not affect the results at the public service or department/agency levels.

    Description

This Excel workbook contains results from the BC Public Service Work Environment Survey dating back to 2013. The survey is administered biennially (every 2 years) to all active employees in the BC Public Service that are under the Public Service Act. All closed-ended survey questions are included in the table, and are shown for each ministry of the BC Public Service. Results are presented as both average scores and percentages, where average scores are calculated using the entire distribution of responses and are represented as scores out of 100. Overall driver scores are average calculations based on the Employee Engagement Model questions and are included in a summary table. Percentages provide more detail on the distribution of response, representing the proportion of employees who agree, disagree, or answer neutral on the questions. For more information about the WES, including survey administration, the statistical model, the history of the program, or other related employee research, please visit the WES section on the BC Stats website (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/data/statistics/government/employee-research/wes).

    Description

The 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2011 National Public Services Surveys are nationally representative surveys focusing on access to, quality and satisfaction with services in Sierra Leone. They contain data on 6341 households in 635 enumeration areas. The first survey was conducted directly before decentralization of public services to local government, and serves as a baseline in the analysis of local government performance. In addition to public services, the survey collects information on knowledge of decentralization and interest in government; local priorities for social and economic development; participation and voice in local decision-making; and social cohesion of communities. Subsequent survey rounds track service access and quality as decentralization was rolled out.

    Description

Background: “In 2006, the Seattle Police Department began surveying members of the public (customers) who had personal contact with an officer after calling 9-1-1. The surveys have been conducted two to four times a year, and a total of 44 surveys have been conducted to date. These surveys have been designed to assess customers’ experiences and satisfaction with the service provided by the Seattle Police Department, and the results of the surveys have been used to assess service delivery; examine differences between precincts; identify strategies and tactics to achieve specific service objectives; and provide feedback to officers, precinct captains, and watch lieutenants. This report presents the results of the September 2019 customer survey and compares the September 2019 survey results to results from the 13 other surveys conducted since March 2016.”

Research Methods. “Similar to the previous surveys, 200 customers who called 9-1-1 and had an officer dispatched to provide assistance were interviewed by telephone for this survey. All of the customers interviewed had called 9-1-1 between August 21 and August 29, 2019, and were randomly selected from lists of 9-1-1 callers who had an officer dispatched to provide assistance, excluding sensitive cases such as domestic violence calls. The interviews were completed between September 3 and September 10, 2019. The interviews were approximately 10 to 12 minutes long. The questionnaire used in the interviews was developed with Department input and approval. During the course of this research, some questions have been added to or deleted from the survey questionnaire to reflect the changing information needs of the Department. However, questions about customers’ overall satisfaction with their experience with the Department after calling 9-1-1, experiences with and opinions of the officer who first visited after the call to 9-1-1, opinions of the Seattle Police Department overall, and satisfaction with the service provided by the 9-1-1 operator have been included in every survey. Since late 2006 and early 2007, the surveys also included questions about customers’ feelings of safety in Seattle.”

    Description

In Western Australia, the Public Sector Commission's purpose is to bring leadership and expertise to the public sector to enhance integrity, effectiveness and efficiency. The Commission’s vision is of a high performing public sector serving the needs of the State now and into the future.\r \r In accordance with section 22D of the Public Sector Management Act 1994, the Public Sector Commissioner reports annually to Parliament on the state of public sector administration and management, and on the extent of compliance with public sector standards and ethical codes. One of the primary information sources used for the State of the WA public sector report 2015 - Creating opportunities is the employee perception survey (EPS). \r \r The EPS captures employee views about factors affecting their workplace, such as leadership, communication, work/life balance and performance development. This information helps to understand organisational culture across the public sector and is essential in identifying areas for further consideration and acknowledging good practice. \r \r The EPS is typically conducted in each public sector body with more than 20 employees once every five years. Different regional offices for the largest agencies, Department of Health and Department of Education, are surveyed every year. To improve the representativeness of the sample, entities are selected across a range of sizes and portfolios. However, care should be taken in interpreting the EPS results because the sample may not be entirely representative of the broader public sector.\r \r In June 2015, all employees in 20 public sector entities were asked to complete the survey (including two areas from the Department of Health and one from the Department of Education). The average response rate to the survey was 31%, with 11 405 valid responses received.\r \r Three files are available for download on data.gov.au:\r \r 1) Public Sector Commission EPS 2015.pdf – the survey instrument sent to relevant employees to access online or in hardcopy\r \r 2) Public Sector Commission EPS 2015 data.xls – individual responses to the EPS, with a question key and response key. Please note that some variables have been removed or aggregated to protect the privacy and anonymity of respondents. \r \r 3) Public Sector Commission EPS 2015 data.sav – individual responses to the EPS, in .sav format to be used with SPSS. Please note that some variables have been removed or aggregated to protect the privacy and anonymity of respondents. \r \r Further information about the EPS sample and summary results for 2015 are available in the State of the WA public sector statistical bulletin 2015.\r

In Western Australia, the Public Sector Commission's purpose is to bring leadership and expertise to the public sector to enhance integrity, effectiveness and efficiency. The Commission’s vision is of a high performing public sector serving the needs of the State now and into the future.

In accordance with section 22D of the Public Sector Management Act 1994, the Public Sector Commissioner reports annually to Parliament on the state of public sector administration and management, and on the extent of compliance with public sector standards and ethical codes. One of the primary information sources used for the State of the WA public sector report 2015 - Creating opportunities is the public sector entity survey (PSES).

The 2015 PSES collected information across topics such as the application of Commissioner’s Instruction No. 7 – Code of Ethics, codes of conduct and general principles of human resource management, public interest disclosure, equal employment opportunity strategies and agency management at June 2015 or for the 2014/15 financial year. The survey was sent to chief executive officers and chief employees of public sector entities with over 20 full-time equivalents as at December 2014, including Senior Executive Service (SES) organisations, non-SES organisations and departments of state. In 2015, 84 public sector entities completed the survey.

    Description

The survey was one of three components of a World Bank project implemented to provide information on the size and composition of the civil service, improve systems and control mechanisms, institutional capacity, and provide information on policy-formulation and decision-making processes. Other components included a census of Guatemalan civil servants and contractors, and the continuous updating and use of this information to strengthen checks and improve transparency, and a new policy framework aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Guatemalan civil service.

The aim of the survey was to assess the characteristics and quality of human resource management in the public administration, as well as to capture the attitudes, motivations, and experiences of public officials. In particular, the survey focused on the priority areas for reform identified by the Government of Guatemala and the World Bank. The data collected was used to support the World Bank’s diagnostic of key problem areas in the human resource management of the public administration in Guatemala. It was used to inform the design of institution-level interventions, as well as the new public policy framework.
