    the script 'pubmed.sh" downloads the the journals from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK3827/table/pubmedhelp.pubmedhelptable45/ , the 'eignefactors' from http://www.eigenfactor.org for each journal , It scans pubmed (starting from year=2000) and get the difference between the date(submitted) and the date(accepted).     Public Health Reports Impact Factor 2024-2025 - ResearchHelpDesk - Public Health Reports is the official journal of the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service and has been published since 1878. It is published bimonthly, plus supplement issues, through an official agreement with the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health. The journal is peer-reviewed and publishes original research, reviews, and commentaries in the areas of public health practice and methodology, public health law, and teaching at schools and programs of public health. Issues contain regular commentaries by the U.S. Surgeon General and executives of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health. The journal focuses upon such topics as tobacco control, teenage violence, occupational disease and injury, immunization, drug policy, lead screening, health disparities, and many other key and emerging public health issues. In addition to the six regular issues, PHR produces supplemental issues approximately 2-5 times per year which focus on specific topics that are of particular interest to our readership.     Update — December 7, 2014. – Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is not working for many reasons, for example: 1. Incorrect in their foundations (paradox): hierarchical levels of evidence are supported by opinions (i.e., lowest strength of evidence according to EBM) instead of real data collected from different types of study designs (i.e., evidence). http://dx.doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.1122534 2. The effect of criminal practices by pharmaceutical companies is only possible because of the complicity of others: healthcare systems, professional associations, governmental and academic institutions. Pharmaceutical companies also corrupt at the personal level, politicians and political parties are on their payroll, medical professionals seduced by different types of gifts in exchange of prescriptions (i.e., bribery) which very likely results in patients not receiving the proper treatment for their disease, many times there is no such thing: healthy persons not needing pharmacological treatments of any kind are constantly misdiagnosed and treated with unnecessary drugs. Some medical professionals are converted in K.O.L. which is only a puppet appearing on stage to spread lies to their peers, a person supposedly trained to improve the well-being of others, now deceits on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. Probably the saddest thing is that many honest doctors are being misled by these lies created by the rules of pharmaceutical marketing instead of scientific, medical, and ethical principles. Interpretation of EBM in this context was not anticipated by their creators. “The main reason we take so many drugs is that drug companies don’t sell drugs, they sell lies about drugs.” ―Peter C. Gøtzsche “doctors and their organisations should recognise that it is unethical to receive money that has been earned in part through crimes that have harmed those people whose interests doctors are expected to take care of.     Background: Randomized control trials (RCTs) are considered the highest level of evidence for therapeutic research. Surgical RCTs, however, have drawbacks, leading some to question their role in filling the information gap in orthopaedic surgery. Pragmatism in study design was introduced to increase the clinical applicability of study results. However, there is a paucity of studies examining the effects of pragmatism on surgical RCTs. The purpose of this study was to examine how pragmatism affects the scholarly influence of surgical RCTs. Hip fracture surgical RCTs were used as an example. We hypothesized that a more pragmatic design would result in increased scholarly influence.     Description

    Selective outcome reporting is a significant methodological concern in medicine leading to bias in clinical trial results. Comparisons between the outcomes reported in clinical trial registrations and those later published allow investigators to understand the extent to which selective reporting bias occurs among trialists. The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of selective outcome reporting in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in high impact factor hematology journals. A PubMed search was conducted to identify randomized controlled trials (RCT) published in five hematology journals from 2010-2015. After screening, primary and secondary outcomes were recorded for each trial and then compared with outcomes prespecified in the trial’s registration. Comparisons were made to determine if pre-specified trial registry outcomes were changed in the published reports. Of 113 RCTs, 56 (49.6%) demonstrated major outcome discrepancies between registry and publication, totaling 119 major discrepant outcomes, the majority of which favored a statistically significant result. We found a high rate of discordance between registered and published outcomes in high impact factor hematology journals. In addition, a high proportion of outcome discrepancies favored publication of a statistically significant result, suggesting selective outcome reporting bias.
