    Description

This data layer contains polygon features representing the approximate size and location of parcels located within Prince William County, Virginia. It was created to provide basic information regarding property location and boundaries, and is used as a graphical representation of legally recorded deed and plat documents for properties. Users should be aware that this data does not represent legal property boundary descriptions, nor is it suitable for boundary determination of individual parcels.

The layer was derived from a variety of source maps including: mylar county parcel maps, plats of surveys, deed descriptions, subdivision maps, and highway right-of-way plats. These source materials were of several different scales and were from dates ranging from the early 1900's to the present. The source of each parcel is described in the Source attribute field.

Parcel ownership information included in this layer is provided by the Office of Real Estate Assessments from their Real Estate Assessments database. This includes all real properties except public service properties (public roads, operating railroads, interstate pipelines, and public utilities), is assessed annually by the Real Estate Assessments Office, This information is provided nightly and joined to the GIS parcel boundaries by the GPIN.

    Description

[Missing ground-truthing and nearshore fish sampling data]

ShoreZone is a coastal habitat mapping and classification system in which georeferenced aerial imagery is collected specifically for the interpretation and integration of geological and biological features of the intertidal zone and nearshore environment. Oblique low-altitude aerial video and digital still imagery of the coastal zone is collected during summer low tides (zero tide level or lower), usually from a helicopter flying at <100 m altitude. The flight trackline is recorded at 1-second intervals using electronic navigation software and is continuously monitored in-flight to ensure all shorelines have been imaged. Video and still imagery collected are georeferenced and time-synchronized. Video imagery is accompanied by continuous, simultaneous commentary by a geologist and a biologist aboard the aircraft. The imagery and commentary are later used in the definition of discrete along-shore coastal habitat units and the "mapping" of observed physical, geomorphic, sedimentary, and biological features in those units.

In the spring of 2017, the Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Virginia Geographic Information Network Division (herein referred to as VGIN) of the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) contracted with Fugro Geospatial, Inc. to provide aerial data acquisition, ground control, aerial triangulation and development of statewide ortho quality DEM and digital orthophotography data. The Virginia Base Mapping Program (VBMP) update project is divided into three collection phases: In 2017, Fugro flew the eastern third of Virginia at one foot resolution, with options for localities and other interested parties to upgrade resolution or purchase other optional products through the state contract. The middle third of Virginia will be flown in 2018 and the western third in 2019. Ortho products are 1-foot resolution statewide with upgrades to 6-inch resolution tiles and 3-inch resolution tiles in various regions within the project area. The Virginia Base Mapping project encompasses the entire land area of the Commonwealth of Virginia over 4 years. The State boundary is buffered by 1000'. Coastal areas of the State bordering the Atlantic Ocean or the Chesapeake Bay are buffered by 1000' or the extent of man-made features extending from shore. This metadata record describes the generation of new Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and contours generated at 2-foot intervals. All products are being delivered in the North American Datum of 1983 (1986), State Plane Virginia North. The vertical datum was the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) using GEOID12B.Lines of equal elevation on a surface. A Green Infrastructure map county of Prince William, VA was developed to provide quantification of canopy and associated data for environmental monitoring. Digital aerial imagery, collected for the National Agriculture Imagery (NAIP) program at 1 meter resolution was classified to a Green Infrastructure Level 1 classification scheme with the following classes: 1) Non Woody Vegetation, 2)Woody Vegetation, 3) Impervious, 4) Water and 5) Bare Soil. The image was classified using Classification and Regression Tree techniques (CART analysis) and raster modeling. The classification accuracy assessment gave an overall accuracy of 95.25%This 2012 update is the result of a change detection process which buillt on the original 2008 classification. Changed areas were updated, and several other classification scheme changes were made, such as the reclassification of pools as impervious surfaces.

    Description

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife based on sensitivity to spilled oil. There are three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. The shoreline and intertidal areas are ranked based on sensitivity determined by: (1) Shoreline type (substrate, grain size, tidal elevation, origin); (2) Exposure to wave and tidal energy; (3) Biological productivity and sensitivity; and (4) Ease of cleanup. The biology layers focus on threatened/endangered species, areas of high concentration and areas where sensitive life stages may occur. Supporting data tables provide species/location-specific abundance, seasonality, status, life history, and source information Human use resources mapped include managed areas (parks, refuges, critical habitats, etc) and resources that may be impacted by oiling and/or clean-up, such as beaches, archaeological sites marinas etc. ESIs are available for the majority of the US coastline, as well as the US territories. ESI data are available in a variety of GIS formats as well as PDF maps. For more information go to or to download complete ESI data sets go to: https://response.restoration.noaa.gov/esiFor the full metadata record please go to: https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/inport/item/46684For online ESI query tools, see the Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA): https://response.restoration.noaa.gov/resources/maps-and-spatial-data/environmental-response-management-application-erma

This data set comprises the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Alaska; Prince William Sound (2000), Aleutians (2001), and Bristol Bay (2004). ESI data characterize estuarine environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. This atlas was developed to be utilized within desktop GIS systems and contains GIS files and related D-base files. Associated files include MOSS (Multiple Overlay Statistical System) export files, .PDF maps, and detailed user guides and metadata.
