    Description

Northern Virginia was by far the world’s largest data center market by total inventory as of the first quarter of 2024. The region had a reported inventory of over ***** MW, which was more than twice that of London, the second-largest market. Northern Virginia remains the world’s most important data center market The Northern Virginia region has established a remarkable position as a data center hub. Data center facilities cluster around Loudon, Prince William, and Fairfax counties, with operators keen to locate close to east coast metropolitan areas and key subsea cables. Vacancy rates in such facilities are notably low, reflecting the continued demand for capacity in the region. However, new rules and standards could see a slowdown in construction moving forward. In addition, while Northern Virginia is not the world’s most expensive market for data center construction, considerably lower construction costs in alternative North American markets could prompt investors to reassess. London is the largest of Europe’s FLAPD markets Europe’s leading data center hubs are often collectively referred to as the FLAPD market, standing for Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin. These markets are driving forwards a European data center industry forecast to generate almost ** billion euros in 2024, with newly adopted European Union sustainability reporting requirements set to dominate the agenda.

    Description

This report presents statistics on women’s smoking status at time of delivery, at Sub Integrated Care Board (Sub-ICB), Integrated Care Board (ICB), regional and national levels. This release includes provisional data for quarter 1 of 2024-25 using data from the Smoking at Time of Delivery data collection which is submitted by commissioners (presented as SATOD v1). Alongside this and for the first time, comparative data using the Maternity Services Dataset (MSDS) is also presented using data submitted by Trusts (presented as SATOD v2) as a time series from quarter 1 of 2022-23 to quarter 1 of 2024-25. This is available for the same geographical breakdowns and includes an additional breakdown for Local Authorities. This shall be repeated for subsequent quarters in 2024-25 to see how the estimates from both data sources align with a view to retiring the Smoking at Time of Delivery data collection at the end of this financial year. Until then, SATOD v1 remains the primary data source for this publication Earlier this year, a proposal for the data source for this publication to be changed to the Maternity Services Dataset was included in a wider consultation: Health and social care statistical outputs published by DHSC (including OHID), NHSBSA, UKHSA, ONS and NHS England. A link to this is in the Related Links below. If you would still like to feedback your views on the SATOD data collection retirement and replacement with MSDS, then please contact us on: england.maternityanalysis@nhs.net The 2022-23 and 2023-24 annual figures were updated on 19 December 2024 following a correction needed to the methodology for SATOD v2. This has changed the counts very slightly and the rates have remained the same.

Local Stop Smoking Services offer support to help people quit smoking. This can include support through one-to-one or group interventions, either in-person or remotely. The support is designed to help smokers to quit in order to reduce health inequalities, particularly in areas where rates of smoking are higher than the general population. The services should be accessible in the local community and are provided by trained personnel, such as specialist smoking cessation advisors, trained clinical staff and pharmacists. This report includes information on the number of people setting a quit date and the number who successfully quit at the 4 week follow-up. It also presents in-depth analyses of the key measures of the service including breakdowns by age, ethnic group, socio-economic classification, type of stop-smoking aids used in the quit attempt, as well as spend on services. The results are provided at national, regional, and local authority levels.

    Description

This is the quarterly Q1 2019 criminal courts statistics publication.

The statistics here focus on key trends in case volume and progression through the criminal court system in England and Wales. This also includes:

    • Management information concerning the enforcement of financial penalties in England and Wales;

    • Experimental statistics on ‘the use of language interpreter and translation services in courts and tribunals’.

This release also contains additional information, including: representation status, grounds for sending, key reasons for cracked and ineffective trials and juror summons statistics.

Additional data tools and CSVs have also been provided.

The Crown Court information release is published as management information on the https://www.judiciary.uk/crown-court-information" class="govuk-link">Courts and Tribunals Judiciary website

    Key Findings

    • At the magistrates’ court, the volume of cases received and disposed both rose between Q4 2018 and Q1 2019 (up 4% and 5% respectively), however this is likely due to be a seasonal uplift often seen in the first quarter. Overall, the volume of cases received and disposed at the magistrates’ court has been declining since 2016, whilst the volume of outstanding cases has been broadly stable.
    • At the Crown Court, the overall volume of cases received increased by 5% between Q4 2018 and Q1 2019, which can be most prominently seen in increases in receipts of possession of weapons (up 27%) and drug offences (up 12%) cases. The overall volume of cases disposed remained stable and below that of receipts, as such the volume of outstanding cases continue a declining trend seen since 2015.
    • Despite overall falling trends since Q1 2017, the average (mean) amount of days between offence and completion of a case at the Crown Court has risen slightly in the most recent quarter (up 9 days to 535 days). This increase was mostly driven by the time spent prior to reaching the magistrates’ courts (‘pre-court’), which accounted for 357 (67%) of the average amount of days between offence and completion in Q1 2019.
    • Total financial impositions increased by 8% to £155m in Q1 2019, mostly due to a £7.5m (8%) increase in fines. The value of total outstanding financial impositions continued to rise, reaching £1.14 billion in Q1 2019.
    • In Q1 2019, a 7% increase in completed language service requests saw volumes reach the highest level since the new contact was introduced in 2016. The success rate also increased by one percentage point to 97%.

Criminal court statistics (quarterly), April to June 2019

The next criminal court statistics publication is scheduled for release in September 2019.

    Pre-release

In addition to Ministry of Justice (MOJ) professional and production staff, pre-release access to the quarterly statistics of up to 24 hours is granted to the following postholders:
