A parcel is a tract or plot of land surveyed and defined by legal ownership. Data were compiled from plats and deeds recorded at the Clerk of the Court and from historic tax maps. Source material was digitized and entered into the GIS database.

This layer contains the boundaries and IDs of the Maryland tax maps produced by Maryland Department of Planning. Tax maps, also known as assessment maps, property maps or parcel maps, are a graphic representation of real property showing and defining individual property boundaries in relationship to contiguous real property.This is a MD iMAP hosted service layer. A point of interest, or POI, is a specific point location that someone may find useful or interesting.

This layer was created to serve as a guide as to the placement of original property boundaries prior to being subdivided or merged together in accordance with assessment data in subdivisions platted in the 1950's and 60's and of property with plats that did not clearly state that property lines were being removed. This layer was NOT created at survey level accuracy. Also contained in this dataset are private right of way easements, and parcel joins.

Address points represent the location along the street network where the specific site or service delivery address has been assigned.
