    Description

Publication Date: April 2025 2024 Parcel Data. Updated annually, or as needed. The data can be downloaded here: https://gis.ny.gov/parcels#data-download. This feature service has two layers: 1) NYS Tax Parcels Public, and 2) NYS Tax Parcels Public Footprint which contains polygons representing counties for which tax parcel polygons are available in the NYS Tax Parcels Public layer. County footprint polygons display when zoomed out beyond 1:37,050-scale. Tax parcel polygons display when zoomed in below 1:37,051-scale. The NYS Tax Parcels Public layer contains 2024 parcel data only for NY State counties which gave NYS ITS Geospatial Services permission to share this data with the public. Work to obtain parcel data from additional counties, as well as permission to share the data, is ongoing. To date, 36 counties have provided Geospatial Services permission to share their parcel data with the public. Parcel data for counties which do not allow Geospatial Services to redistribute their data must be obtained directly from those counties. Geospatial Services' goal is to eventually include parcel data for all counties in New York State. Parcel geometry was incorporated as received from County Real Property Departments. No attempt was made to edge-match parcels along adjacent counties. County attribute values were populated using 2024 Assessment Roll tabular data the NYS ITS Geospatial Services obtained from the NYS Department of Tax and Finance’s Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS). Tabular assessment data was joined to the county provided parcel geometry using the SWIS & SBL or SWIS & PRINT KEY unique identifier for each parcel. Detailed information about assessment attributes can be found in the ORPTS Assessor’s Manuals available here: https://www.tax.ny.gov/research/property/assess/manuals/assersmanual.htm. New York City data comes from NYC MapPluto which can be found here: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/planning/data-maps/open-data/dwn-pluto-mappluto.page. Thanks to the following counties that specifically authorized Geospatial Services to share their GIS tax parcel data with the public: Albany, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Cortland, Erie, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Lewis, Livingston, Montgomery, NYC- Bronx, NYC- Kings (Brooklyn), NYC- New York (Manhattan), NYC- Queens, NYC- Richmond (Staten Island), Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orange, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Schuyler, St Lawrence, Steuben, Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren, Wayne, and Westchester. Geometry accuracy varies by contributing county. This map service is available to the public. Description
The NYC Department of City Planning’s (DCP) Housing Database contains all NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) approved housing construction and demolition jobs filed or completed in NYC since January 1, 2010. It includes the three primary construction job types that add or remove residential units: new buildings, major alterations, and demolitions, and can be used to determine the change in legal housing units across time and space. Records in the Housing Database Project-Level Files are geocoded to the greatest level of precision possible, subject to numerous quality assurance and control checks, recoded for usability, and joined to other housing data sources relevant to city planners and analysts.

Data are updated semiannually, at the end of the second and fourth quarters of each year.

Please see DCP’s annual Housing Production Snapshot summarizing findings from the 21Q4 data release here. Additional Housing and Economic analyses are also available.

The NYC Department of City Planning’s (DCP) Housing Database Unit Change Summary Files provide the net change in Class A housing units since 2010, and the count of units pending completion for commonly used political and statistical boundaries (Census Block, Census Tract, City Council district, Community District, Community District Tabulation Area (CDTA), Neighborhood Tabulation Area (NTA). These tables are aggregated from the DCP Housing Database Project-Level Files, which is derived from Department of Buildings (DOB) approved housing construction and demolition jobs filed or completed in NYC since January 1, 2010. Net housing unit change is calculated as the sum of all three construction job types that add or remove residential units: new buildings, major alterations, and demolitions. These files can be used to determine the change in legal housing units across time and space.

    Description

Overview of the Data:This is a subset of tax parcel records for only parcels sold within the last three calendar years. Sales are recorded through deed transfers by the Monroe County Clerk and this data is shared with the City. The operational purpose of the tax parcel data set is to facilitate the calculation and collection of property taxes. Each publicly or privately owned property in the city of Rochester has an official tax parcel record. The assessed value of every tax parcel in the city is recalculated based on recent sales and professional appraisals every four years. Reassessment years provide the best snapshot period for historical comparison, and included on the open data portal are 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. This feature layer shows the polygon boundaries for each of the over 65,000 tax parcels in the city, along with several fields from their parcel records that detail information about the property, including ownership, property type, and assessed values. How does the tax map system work in New York State? What does Section, Block, Lot refer to?Each county in the state has a tax map that includes all of the parcels in each of its cities, towns, and villages. The county tax map is subdivided into sections of even, modular units that are 8,000 feet by 12,000 feet. Each of these sections are then subdivided into blocks of up to 100 parcels. Blocks are typically formed by following natural boundaries (i.e., roads, rivers, railroad tracks). Lot numbers are assigned to each parcel in a block following a set pattern according to their location on the map. Each parcel is thus assigned a Section, Block, Lot (SBL) number for identification and tax administration purposes. For more information on this identification system, please see the General Guide for Tax Mapping in New York State, put out by the Property Tax Assessment Administration.Related Resources:For a searchable interactive mapping application, please visit the City of Rochester's Property Information explorer tool. For further information about the city's property tax assessments, please contact the City of Rochester Assessment Bureau. To access the City's zoning code, please click here.

    Description

This dataset represents a compilation of data from various government agencies throughout the City of New York. The underlying geography is derived from the Tax Lot Polygon feature class that is part of the Department of Finance's Digital Tax Map (DTM). The tax lots have been clipped to the shoreline, as defined by NYCMap planimetric features. The attribute information is from the Department of City Planning's PLUTO data. The attribute data pertains to tax lot and building characteristics and geographic, political and administrative information for each tax lot in New York City. The Tax Lot Polygon feature class and PLUTO are derived from different sources. As a result, some PLUTO records do not have a corresponding tax lot in the Tax Lot polygon feature class at the time of release. These records are included in a separate non-geographic PLUTO Only table. There are a number of reasons why there can be a tax lot in PLUTO that does not match the DTM; the most common reason is that the various source files are maintained by different departments and divisions with varying update cycles and criteria for adding and removing records. The attribute definitions for the PLUTO Only table are the same as those for MapPLUTO. DCP Mapping Lots includes some features that are not on the tax maps. They have been added by DCP for cartographic purposes. They include street center 'malls', traffic islands and some built streets through parks. These features have very few associated attributes. To report problems, please open a GitHub issue or email DCPOpendata@planning.nyc.gov.DATES OF INPUT DATASETS:Department of City Planning - E-Designations: 2/5/2021Department of City Planning - Zoning Map Index: 7/31/2019Department of City Planning - NYC City Owned and Leased Properties: 11/15/2020Department of City Planning - NYC GIS Zoning Features: 2/5/2021Department of City Planning - Polictical and Administrative Districts: 11/17/2020Department of City Planning - Geosupport version 20D: 11/17/2020Department of Finance - Digital Tax Map: 1/30/2021Department of Finance - Mass Appraisal System (CAMA): 2/10/2021Department of Finance - Property Tax System (PTS): 2/6/2021Landmarks Preservation Commission - Historic Districts: 2/4/2021Landmarks Preservation Commission - Individual Landmarks: 2/4/2021Department of Information Telecommunications & Technology - Building Footprints: 2/10/2021Department of Parks and Recreation - GreenThumb Garden Info: 1/4/2021

    Description

NYC Neighborhoods polygons and correlated data with their respective Postal Codes, Assembly Districts, Community Districts, Congressional Districts, Council Districts and State Senate Districts created by Ontodia. There are hundreds of neighborhoods in New York City's five boroughs, each with unique characteristics and histories. Many historical neighborhood names are derived from the names of the previously independent villages, towns, and cities that were incorporated into into the City of New York in the consolidation of 1898. Other neighborhood names have been introduced by real estate developers and urban planners, sometimes contentiously. Boundaries of neighborhoods are notoriously fuzzy, although many boundaries are widely agreed upon. Complicating the definition of neighborhood further, boundaries may overlap, some neighborhoods may function as a micro-neighborhood within another neighborhood, or a larger district which can be made up of multiple neighborhoods. Names and boundaries of neighborhoods shift over time; they are determined by the collective conscious of the people who live, work, and play in these places. There is never an official version of neighborhoods, but the concept is deeply meaningful to many people. In many cases a New Yorker is just as proud to claim identity with a particular neighborhood, and visitors plan their trips around visits to specific neighborhoods. To display data about neighborhoods on NYCpedia we created our own neighborhood boundaries, 264 in all. In order to display a continuous map with no overlap some boundaries have been stretched or shrunk, and neighborhoods have been omitted in this version. We intend to expand our work developing neighborhood polygon files (all released with open source license) and also to collect and organize as many meaningful alternative versions of neighborhood boundaries as possible. If you are a map geek or software developer who builds apps about New York City you can find the shapefile and geoJSON of the NYCpedia neighborhoods on Data Wrangler. Drop us a line if you see any errors, or if you have suggestions for how to improve our conception of NYC geography.

    Description

Please note: this data is updated as of 2024.Overview of the Data:The operational purpose of the tax parcel data set is to facilitate the calculation and collection of property taxes. Each publicly or privately owned property in the city of Rochester has an official tax parcel record.
