The Ice Age Trail Alliance, a volunteer- and member-based non-profit organization, protects, promotes, builds and maintains the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The Ice Age Trail is a thousand-mile footpath – entirely within Wisconsin – that celebrates the legacy of continental glaciation.IATA received an ECP grant for a reduced conference pass for ESRI’s 2014 International User Conference. At the User Conference, IATA’s GIS Specialist attended 18 sessions and 2 special interest group meetings. Many of the sessions attended related to ArcGIS Online and Map Design. Additionally, specific questions were posed to ESRI staff in the Exhibit Hall. This grant report contains maps that incorporate some of the design techniques and tips learned at the User Conference. Furthermore, the knowledge obtained from attending ArcGIS Online workshops was used to create web mapping applications for IATA’s Educators Summit: https://iceagetrail.maps.arcgis.com/apps/PublicGallery/index.html?appid=031c0fc72fc4462fb85af0bef4ca916b . The Educators Summit brought together 11 school districts for two days of planning related to IATA’s Saunters program. This educational component of the Alliance’s work offers youth a unique learning experience on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, combining efforts to combat childhood obesity, prevent learning loss and help kids get unplugged. After this summer’s Saunters hikes, IATA plans to create more web mapping applications, which will be used to instruct youth, inform families and share the story of each hike.IATA anticipates expanding its ArcGIS Online content, web maps, and story maps in the future. Additionally, IATA expects to further explore the Collector App to support its programs.
