Prior to 2020 the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), published similar statistics on stock and rents for Local Authorities based on data collected through their Local Authority Housing Statistic. The differences in collection methodology between the LADR and LAHS and the statistical methodology employed between MHCLG and RSH statistical releases are explored in detail in the technical notes.

Further to the GLA's scheme of delegations, the Mayor has delegated authority to the Executive Director of Housing and Land to approve engagement with, and allocations to, new and existing housing providers bidding to deliver additional affordable homes in London. The approvals include bids for new schemes in existing programmes and the approval of variations to existing scheme allocations. The tables below provide statistics on the sales of social housing stock – whether owned by local authorities or private registered providers. The most common of these sales are by the Right to Buy (and preserved Right to Buy) scheme and there are separate tables for sales under that scheme.
The tables for Right to Buy, tables 691, 692 and 693, are now presented in annual versions to reflect changes to the data collection following consultation. The previous quarterly tables can be found in the discontinued tables section below.
From April 2005 to March 2021 there are quarterly official statistics on Right to Buy sales – these are available in the quarterly version of tables 691, 692 and 693. From April 2021 onwards, following a consultation with local authorities, the quarterly data on Right to Buy sales are management information and not subject to the same quality assurance as official statistics and should not be treated the same as official statistics. These data are presented in tables in the ‘Right to Buy sales: management information’ below.

The Fire Safety Remediation Survey for 11 metre plus buildings opened to all landlords (both private registered providers and local authority registered providers) on 25 March 2025 and closed on 23 April 2025, with data reported as at 31 March 2025.
All landlords were asked to report to the Regulator of Social Housing whether or not they are responsible for any residential buildings measuring 11 metres plus or that have 5 storeys or more.
This report is the findings from the survey.
These statistics are drawn from our FRS data collection and are being published as Official Statistics in Development.
The Community Life Survey is a nationally representative annual survey of adults (16+) in England that tracks the latest trends and developments across areas related to social action and empowering communities. Data collection on the Community Life Survey commenced in 2012/13 using a face-to-face format. During the survey years from 2013/14 to 2015/16 a push-to-web format was tested, which included collecting online/paper data alongside the face-to-face data, before moving fully to a push-to-web format in 2016/17. The results included in this release are based on online/paper completes only.

For the 2023/24 and 2024/25 survey years, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) partnered with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to boost the Community Life Survey to be able to produce meaningful estimates at Local Authority level. This has enabled us to have the most granular data we have ever had. The questionnaire for 2024/25 has been developed collaboratively to adapt to the needs and interests of both DCMS and MHCLG, including some new questions and changes to existing questions, response options and definitions in the 23/24 and 24/25 surveys.
Fieldwork for 2024/25 was delivered over two quarters (October – December 2024 and January – March 2025) in line with the 2023/24 survey. As such there are two quarterly publications in 2024/25, in addition to the annual publication. The quarterly releases contain headline findings only and do not contain geographical or demographic breakdowns – this detail will be published through the 2024/25 annual publication, due in Autumn 2025.
The pre-release access list above contains the ministers and officials who have received privileged early access to this release of Community Life Survey data. In line with best-practice, the list has been kept to a minimum and those given access for briefing purposes had a maximum of 24 hours. Details on the pre-release access arrangements for this dataset are available in the accompanying material.

This report reflects our gender and ethnicity pay gap data as of March 2023, which we annually report in arrears.
Although our staff count falls below the 250-employee threshold for mandatory gender pay gap reporting, we have voluntarily chosen to publish our findings for the fifth year, believing it aligns with best practices and promotes transparency in pay across the public sector.
We continue to strive for an inclusive, welcoming, and fair environment for all members of our team. In the context of this report, we have employed the terms ‘gender,’ ‘male,’ and ‘female,’ understanding that they typically relate to biological sex. However, it’s important to acknowledge that for some individuals, these terms may not fully encapsulate their gender identity.
In 2017, the government introduced a statutory requirement for organisations with 250 or more employees to report annually on their gender pay gap. Government departments are covered by the https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2017/353/contents/made" class="govuk-link">Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties and Public Authorities) Regulations 2017 which came into force on 31 March 2017. These regulations underpin the Public Sector Equality Duty and require the relevant organisations to annually publish their gender pay gap data on:
The gender pay gap shows the difference in the average pay between all men and women in a workforce. Mean and median gender pay gap figures are based on a comparison of men and women’s hourly pay across the organisation irrespective of grade, which means that the gap shows the difference in the average pay between all men and women in the organisation’s workforce.
The mean figure is the percentage difference between the mean average hourly rates of men and women’s pay.
The median figure is the percentage difference between the midpoints in the ranges of men and women’s pay.
The bonus gap refers to bonus payments paid to men and women employees during the 12 months period prior to the snapshot date.

This statistical release presents the Accredited Official Statistics on the stock owned by local authority registered providers in England on 31 March 2024. Based on data from the Regulator of Social Housing’s Local Authority Data Return (LADR) it provides details of local authority registered provider (LARP) owned stock and details rents reported for low cost rental stock (social and Affordable Rents).
The release comprises a briefing note, a dynamic look-up tool (Excel based) allowing users to view details of stock in individual local authority areas and regions, additional data tables, raw data from the LADR and technical documentation.
The statistics derived from the LADR data and published as local authority registered provider social housing stock and rents in England are considered by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority’s regulatory arm – the Office for Statistics Regulation – to have met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value, and are considered an Accredited Official Statistic. These statistics are based on data from the LADR. This return, which was collected by the RSH for the first time in 2020, collects data on stock size, types, location and rents as at 31 March. All registered Local Authority providers of social housing in England are required to complete the LADR, providing the regulator with data on stock and rent levels in order that it may regulate social housing rents.
Prior to 2020 the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), published similar statistics on stock and rents for Local Authorities based on data collected through their Local Authority Housing Statistic. The differences in collection methodology between the LADR and LAHS and the statistical methodology employed between MHCLG and RSH statistical releases are explored in detail in the technical notes.
