Determination of the status of an area should be done using the Scallop Management Map and your local Marine Patrol office. Maine DMR manages scallop fishing in Zone 2 using a rotational management plan. Areas are open or closed to scallop fishing based on a three-cycle rotation; the details of these rotational cycles, as well as the legal descriptions of the rotational area boundaries, are described in Chapter 11 of Maine DMR regulations.
