TwitterThe TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Face refers to the areal (polygon) topological primitives that make up MTDB. A face is bounded by one or more edges; its boundary includes only the edges that separate it from other faces, not any interior edges contained within the area of the face. The Topological Faces Shapefile contains the attributes of each topological primitive face. Each face has a unique topological face identifier (TFID) value. Each face in the shapefile includes the key geographic area codes for all geographic areas for which the Census Bureau tabulates data for both the 2020 Census and the annual estimates and surveys. The geometries of each of these geographic areas can then be built by dissolving the face geometries on the appropriate key geographic area codes in the Topological Faces Shapefile.

The Vegetation Map of Cañada de San Vicente (CSV), San Diego County, was created by the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) Vegetation and Mapping Program (VegCAMP). CSV, formerly known as Monte Vista Ranch, was acquired in April 2009 by DFG and is currently not open to the public as the management plan is not complete. The map study area boundary is based on the DFG Lands layer that was published in April, 2011 and includes 4888 acres of land. This includes 115 acres of private land located in the northeast corner of the map that was considered an area of interest (AOI) before purchase by DFG. The map is based on field data from 38 vegetation Rapid Assessment surveys (RAs), 111 reconnaissance points, and 118 verification points that were conducted between April 2009 and January 2012. The rapid assessment surveys were collected as part of a comprehensive effort to create the Vegetation Classification Manual for Western San Diego County (Sproul et al., 2011). A total of 1265 RAs and 18 relevés were conducted for this larger project, all of which were analyzed together using cluster analysis to develop the final vegetation classification. The CSV area was delineated by vegetation type and each polygon contains attributes for hardwood tree, shrub and herb cover, roadedness, development, clearing, and heterogeneity. Of 545 woodland and shrubland polygons that were delineated, 516 were mapped to the association level and 29 to the alliance level (due to uncertainty in the association). Of 46 herbaceous polygons that were delineated, 36 were mapped to the group or macrogroup level and 8 were mapped to association. Four polygons were mapped as urban or agriculture. The classification and map follow the National Vegetation Classification Standard (NVCS) and Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standard and State of California Vegetation and Mapping Standards. The minimum mapping area unit (MMU) is one acre, though occasionally, vegetation is mapped below MMU for special types including wetland, riparian, and native herbaceous and when it was possible to delineate smaller stands with a high degree of certainty (e.g., with available field data). In total, about 45 percent of the polygons were supported by field data points and 55 percent were based on photointerpretation.

5/21/2025 - The following changes were made to the 2023 report data (Equity Report Year = 2023). Self-Sufficiency Wage - a typo in the indicator name was fixed (changed sufficienct to sufficient) and the percent for one PUMA corrected from 56.9 to 59.9 (PUMA = San Diego County (Northwest)--Oceanside City & Camp Pendleton). Notes were made consistent for all rows where geography = ZCTA. A note was added to all rows where geography = PUMA. Voter registration - label "92054, 92051" was renamed to be in numerical order and is now "92051, 92054". Removed data from the percentile column because the categories are not true percentiles. Employment - Data was corrected to show the percent of the labor force that are employed (ages 16 and older). Previously, the data was the percent of the population 16 years and older that are in the labor force. 3- and 4-Year-Olds Enrolled in School - percents are now rounded to one decimal place. Poverty - the last two categories/percentiles changed because the 80th percentile cutoff was corrected by 0.01 and one ZCTA was reassigned to a different percentile as a result. Low Birthweight - the 33th percentile label was corrected to be written as the 33rd percentile. Life Expectancy - Corrected the category and percentile assignment for SRA CENTRAL SAN DIEGO. Parks and Community Spaces - corrected the category assignment for six SRAs.

The San Diego Coast District, Department of Natural Resources, and California State Parks created a fine-scale vegetation map of portions of the Los Penasquitos Lagoon. San Diego Coast District, Department of Natural Resources, and California State Parks conducted field reconnaissance assistance for this project, as well as accuracy assessment (AA) field data collection. CDFW’s Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) provided in-kind service to allocate and score the AA. The mapping study area consists of approximately 1204.82 acres of San Diego county. Prior to performing field work, preliminary polygons were delineated on a 2013 true color aerial image with 6 inch pixel resolution. The majority of polygons were later surveyed in the field and redrawn as needed to accurately reflect the boundaries of each vegetation type. Field data was collected from mid 2013 to early 2015. The primary purpose of the project was to further CDFW’s goal of developing fine-scale digital vegetation maps as part of the California Biodiversity Initiative Roadmap of 2018. Mapped vegetation was classified according to the Vegetation Manual for Western San Diego County (AECOM 2011) codes. Holland (sensu Oberbauer 2008) classes were derived via the crosswalk recommended in the Vegetation Manual for Western San Diego County (AECOM 2011). CNPS under separate contract and in collaboration with CDFW VegCAMP developed the floristic vegetation classification used for the project. The floristic classification follows protocols compliant with the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and National Vegetation Classification Standards (NVCS). The vegetation map was produced applying heads-up digitizing techniques using LIDAR vegetation elevation data, false color infrared, and other aerial imagery. Map polygons are assessed for Vegetation Type, Percent Cover, Exotics, Development Disturbance, and other attributes. The minimum mapping unit (MMU) is 0.1 hectares. Mappers retained salt panne, mudflat, and water polygons that were below the MMU due to the importance of these habitats. In addition, polygons that were enclosed by these habitat types (such as islands of Salicornia pacifica surrounded by water) were allowed as exceptions to the MMU rule, as were polygons on the perimeter of the mapped area. Polygons initially mapped as salt panne, mudflat, or water that were later changed to a different category based on examination in the field were also allowed as exceptions to the MMU rule. Field reconnaissance and accuracy assessment enhanced map quality. The accuracy assessment was performed in the autumn of 2016. A total of 61 plots from 20 categories were evaluated. The final map accuracy was 56% using a traditional error matrix. There was a total of 42 mapping classes. The overall Fuzzy Accuracy Assessment rating for the final vegetation map, at the association levels, is 89% percent.

The database delineates map units that are identified by general age and lithology following the stratigraphic nomenclature of the U.S. Geological Survey. In 2016, Debbie Waldecker from California State Parks (CSP) led a team in a strongly field-based update of the Western San Diego County Vegetation dataset for Border Field State Park, located in the southern portion of the mapping area. This mapping effort was conducted to support decisions regarding a road renovation project within the state park. The MMU was 0.4 ha for the majority of the park, with smaller polygons present in the area along the road.
Dr. Kellie Uyeda of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve and Dr. John Boland of Boland Ecological Services combined the maps produced by SFEI and CSP and assessed each polygon individually to ensure that a MMU of 0.1 ha was applied consistently across the mapping area. We made exceptions to the MMU for polygons that were part of our original field-based rapid assessment plots. Image interpretation was based on a combination of sources, including four-band (red, green, blue, NIR) orthoimagery collected in 2016 by Near Earth Observation Systems, LTD (15 cm spatial resolution), 2016 National Aerial Imagery Program four-band orthoimagery (60 cm spatial resolution), 2014 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) four-band orthoimagery (10 cm spatial resolution), and 2014 USGS lidar point clouds (11 pts/m2). The lidar point clouds were processed to produce a digital elevation model and a canopy height layer. In addition, we conducted extensive ground reference surveys from 2016 - 2018, collecting over 3,700 geotagged photos across the mapping area. We mostly mapped to the association level, although in some highly disturbed sites where the exact species composition could not be clearly determined, we mapped only to the group level (Mediterranean California Naturalized Annual and Perennial Grassland Semi-Natural Stands and Naturalized Warm-Temperate Riparian and Wetland Semi-Natural Stands). Group and alliance level classes are noted in the association field with an asterisk.
The vegetated habitats were based on the Western San Diego County Vegetation dataset, produced in 2012 by San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) with a minimum mapping unit (MMU) of 1 hectare (ha) for terrestrial systems and 0.5 ha for wetlands. Developed areas were mapped using the National Land Cover Dataset of 2011 with a MMU of 0.09 ha. Tidal channels and mudflats were based on the Southern California Wetlands Mapping Project from 2005 with a MMU of 0.2 ha. SFEI also conducted supplemental mapping based on aerial imagery from 2008 – 2010 to provide full coverage of the study area.

Types are cross-walked to California Wildlife Habitat Relationships (CWHR) and Holland types. No report was produced; this metadata serves to document the entire project. WHAT EACH RECORD REPRESENTS: Each record represents the attributes of the individual polygon in the map layer, including vegetation type, structural information, and disturbance information. The map represents vegetation as it existing prior to the 2002 Pines Fire. Polygons are attributed to the lowest level of the classification hierarchy allowed by the image resolution and comfort level of the photo interpreter. Thus, individual polygons are mapped to the Formation, Alliance or Association level. Several "mapping units" not in the vegetation classification were also used in the mapping classification (=map legend). The hierarchical classification and crosswalk allow mapping at coarser levels or in different systems (e.g., CWHR). If mapping at the Formation level (the "1000s" in the spreadsheet), please consider including the California juniper types 2106, 2171, 2172 and 2173 in the 4000s (Evergreen Shrubland). This juniper is considered a tree in the national classification, but is more shrub-like and its desert affinities make California juniper types fit more logically into the Evergreen Shrubland Formation.

This dataset accompanies publication "Geologic map of the San Antonio Mountain area, northern New Mexico and southern Colorado". Data presented here include the digital geologic database, 40Ar/39Ar geochronology and major and trace element chemistry from lava flows and an ignimbrite. The geologic database includes spatial feature classes and non-spatial tables that collectively contain the geologic information presented in the map plate. 40Ar/39Ar geochronologic analyses and geochemical data constrain temporal and stratigraphic relations for deposits associated with the Taos Plateau volcanic field, late Oligocene to Miocene basaltic volcanism, and the San Juan Mountains locus of the Southern Rocky Mountains volcanic field along the western margin of the San Luis Basin situated in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado, USA.

Wholly based on the United States National Grid (USNG), it aims to be the Los Angeles County regional grid because of its ease of use and extensive coverage.
Each block measures 2,000 meters by 2,000 meters and are comprised of four 1,000 meter/1 kilometer USNG blocks. i.e. 11SLT4771, 11SLT4871, 11SLT4770 and 11SLT4870; left to right and up to down. For ease of use each 2,000 meter block is designated by a page number from 1 to 9,750, and it is inferred that the 1,000 meter divisions of each page are designated A, B, C or D; left to right and up to down. Therefore, each 1,000 meter block within this regional grid has a unique descriptor of 4 numerals and 1 letter.
The region covered by the grid includes Los Angeles County completely and 2 of the islands in the Channel Islands archipelago that fall into the Los Angeles County jurisdiction. It also covers close to 100% of Orange County, 50% of Ventura County, and the Los Angeles County adjacent portions of Kern County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County, and a portion of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Northwest San Diego County.
