User notes: 8/1/25 - for the report year 2025, the following change were made: Business Ownership: the minority and nonminority labels were switched for the population estimates and some of the race/ethnicity data for nonemployer businesses were corrected. Homelessness: added asterisks to category name for unincorporated regions to allow for a footnote in the figure in the story page.
7/11/25 - for the report year 2025, the following changes were made: Beach Water Quality: the number of days with advisories was corrected for Imperial Beach municipal beach, San Diego Bay, and Ocean Beach.
5/22/25 - for the report year 2023, the following changes were made: Youth poverty/Poverty: IPUMS identified an error in the POVERTY variable for multi-year ACS samples. In July 2024, they released a revised version of all multi-year ACS samples to IPUMS USA, which included corrected POVERTY values. The corrected POVERTY values were downloaded, and the analysis was rerun for this indicator using the 2021 ACS 5-year Estimates. Youth Poverty: data source label corrected to be 2021 for all years. Employment, Homeownership, and Cost-Burdened Households - Notes were made consistent for rows where category = Race/Ethnicity.
5/9/25 - Excluding data for the crime section indicators, data were appended on May 9, 2025 and the report will be updated to reflect the new data in August 2025. The following changes in methods were made: For indicators based on American Community Survey (ACS) data, the foreign-born category name was changed to Nativity Status. Internet access: Group quarters is a category included in the survey sample, but it is not part of the universe for the analysis. For the 2025 Equity Report year, respondents in group quarters were excluded from the analysis, whereas for the 2023 Equity Report year, these respondents were included. Adverse childhood experiences - new data source.

This data collection was produced by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and donated to the University of California, San Diego Social Science Data Collection (SSDC) for archival retention and public dissemination. The data consists of 1990 April 1 Census Bureau population and housing data and annual SANDAG intercensal estimates of population and housing data from 1991 through 2000. The data have been designed for comparability with historical census data, and these estimates may be used to evaluate changes occurring over time. Estimates are available for the San Diego region, major statistical areas (MSAs), subregional areas (SRAs), census tracts, cities, zip codes, County of San Diego Planning Areas, and City of San Diego Community Planning Areas. Almost 400 variables in the dataset include: Total Population, Population in Households, Housing Units by category, Households by income level, Median Household Income, Employment by broad sector, Occupation by broad category, and land area. Population estimates are available by sex/age/ethnicity. The data use 23 age groupings and four ethnic groupings. The four ethnic groups are Hispanic, non-Hispanic White, non- Hispanic Black, and non-Hispanic Asian. These groups are defined based on comb ined responses to two questions on the U.S. Census form, one concerning race and another concerning Hispanic origin. Those who wish to analyze the data with statistical software or merge the data with GIS boundary files may, from the SSDC files page, download the the original data files as they were distributed by SANDAG, or the merged data files created by SSDC staff, or create subsets and download those in any of a number of popular formats (e.g., SPSS, SAS, csv, etc.). Those who wish to quickly view the statistics in spreadsheet form may wish to use the links below to Excel spreadsheets created by SSDC staff. These spreadsheets do not contain all the data, but do contain the most often used variables and are easy to read and use . Those SANDAG maps and administrative digital boundary files that are available to everyone are available here through SSDC. The UCSD Library GIS Lab has additional digital boundary files that can be used only by UCSD faculty, students and staff.

This dataset gives a comprehensive view of demographic details from the 2010 Census, zooming in on smaller regions called census tracts, specifically within the City of Carlsbad. It includes important factors like population distribution, racial makeup, family structures, household types, and housing details. Tailored for visualizing and analyzing local demographics, it's especially helpful for understanding trends within specific regions. The dataset aims to support informed decision-making by providing a detailed look at the social and housing landscape at a more localized level within the City of Carlsbad. It's important to note that the original dataset was sourced from the San Diego Geographic Information Source (SANGIS). Initially covering census tracts for the entire San Diego County, we refined the dataset by clipping it to the specific boundary line of the City of Carlsbad. This process was undertaken to tailor the dataset to the unique demographic profile of Carlsbad, making it more pertinent for local analyses and mapping. For additional details and metadata regarding the broader San Diego Countywide layer, it is recommended to visit the SanGIS website. Accessing the metadata on the SANGIS website will provide users with a deeper understanding of the dataset's origins, characteristics, and any additional information relevant to the broader county context.Point of Contact:Point of Contact Operations Manager, Operations Manager U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Geography Division, Geographic Products Branch 4600 Silver Hill Road, Stop 7400 Washington, DC. 20233-7400 geo.tiger@census.gov 301-763-1128

This data collection is a block group subset of the Census of Population and Housing, 1970: Summary Tape File 1A for San Diego County, California. Block group complete count (100% long form) tabulations are available in 55 population and housing tables. Population tables include tabulations by total population, age, sex, race, marital status, relationship to household head, family type, and combinations of these. Housing tables include tabulations by housing units by number of rooms, persons per room, number of units with basement, value of owner occupied units, contract rent, plumbing facilities, and crowded units by type of household. A list of all table cell counts (variables) is available for these data tabulations. The San Diego block group data file was extracted and processed by the Social Science Data Collection (SSDC) staff of the University of California, San Diego from Census Bureau data processed by DUALabs, Inc. and archived at the Odum Institute. All counts in 1970 Summary Tape File 1A are considered final. 1970 Summary Tape File 1A is also known as 1970 Summary Statistics File 1A, and 1970 File A First Count Tallies: Block Groups and Enumeration Districts. The Census Bureau did not produce printed reports for 1970 Summary Tape File 1A. The UCSD Geisel Library maintains two copies of printed block maps in Block Statistics: San Diego, Calif. Urbanized Area (SSH Docs US Stacks C 3.224/5:970/23). Block groups can be identified by the first digit of the block number used in the maps. Block group "1" will contain any block numbered 101-199, block group "2" will contain any block number 201-299, and etc.
