This indicator is specific to the foreign-born population. Moreover, it breaks down the foreign population into naturalized citizens or not naturalized residents.
Because it is out of the entire population, the percentages of naturalized and not naturalized will not add up to 100%. Instead, they will add to the percentage of foreign-born.

Disability status is determined for the civilian noninstitutionalized population who responded to questions regarding six types of difficulty and may vary by age. For children under 5 years old, hearing and vision difficulty are used to determine disability status. For children between the ages of 5 and 14, disability status is determined from hearing, vision, cognitive, ambulatory, and self-care difficulties. For people aged 15 years and older, they are considered to have a disability if they have difficulty with any one of the six difficulty types.
*Note: numbers are NOT mutually exclusive. Persons can have more than one type of disability. This is why percentages will NOT add to 100%.

This dataset presents a detailed overview of demographic information from the 2010 Census, focusing on the level of Carlsbad neighborhoods. It delves into smaller, more localized regions within the City of Carlsbad, offering insights into population distribution, racial makeup, family structures, household types, and housing details. Tailored for the visualization and analysis of local demographics, this dataset is especially valuable for discerning trends within specific Carlsbad neighborhoods. It is designed to provide a comprehensive look at the social and housing landscape at the neighborhood level within the City of Carlsbad."It's important to note that the original dataset was sourced from the San Diego Geographic Information Source (SanGIS) and San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). Initially covering census tracts for the entire San Diego County, we refined the dataset by clipping it to the specific boundary line of the City of Carlsbad. This process was undertaken to tailor the dataset to the unique demographic profile of Carlsbad, making it more pertinent for local analyses and mapping.Point of Contact:Operations ManagerU.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Geography Division, Geographic Products Branch4600 Silver Hill RoadWashington, DC 20233

User notes: 5/9/25 - Excluding data for the crime section indicators, data were appended on May 9, 2025 and the report will be updated to reflect the new data in August 2025. The following changes in methods were made: For indicators based on American Community Survey (ACS) data, the foreign-born category name was changed to Nativity Status. Internet access: Group quarters is a category included in the survey sample, but it is not part of the universe for the analysis. For the 2025 Equity Report year, respondents in group quarters were excluded from the analysis, whereas for the 2023 Equity Report year, these respondents were included. Adverse childhood experiences - new data source.
5/22/25 - for the report year 2023, the following changes were made: Youth poverty/Poverty: IPUMS identified an error in the POVERTY variable for multi-year ACS samples. In July 2024, they released a revised version of all multi-year ACS samples to IPUMS USA, which included corrected POVERTY values. The corrected POVERTY values were downloaded, and the analysis was rerun for this indicator using the 2021 ACS 5-year Estimates. Youth Poverty: data source label corrected to be 2021 for all years. Employment, Homeownership, and Cost-Burdened Households - Notes were made consistent for rows where category = Race/Ethnicity.
7/11/25 - for the report year 2025, the following changes were made: Beach Water Quality: the number of days with advisories was corrected for Imperial Beach municipal beach, San Diego Bay, and Ocean Beach.
