    The Santa Clara County Planning Office is part of the Department of Planning and Development. Their primary function is to plan and regulate land use and development within the unincorporated portions of Santa Clara County. Other responsibilities include policy analysis, GIS services, research and technical assistance relating to land use, housing, environmental protection, historic preservation and demographics. The Geographic Information Services Department has taken on all those activities related to GIS data and GIS process and procedures that cross organizational boundaries. Santa Clara County encompasses 15 cities and approximately 1.7 million people. This coverage can be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analyses of geospatial data.

    This layer was created as an update the existing San Jose Parks Layer (PRK.PARKS). The existing layer has been maintained by the City of San Jose Department of Public Works and had not been updated in some time. This layer is a draft as of (05.02.2014) and has not been fully reviewed to assure complete accuracy of boundaries. Nevertheless it is an improvement over the existing layer and has had park boundaries adjusted to reflect PRNS management authority to the curb and gutter. This layer is also primarily based upon satellite imagery and visible property lines with the Santa Clara County parcel layer used as a guide in certain circumstances where boundaries could not be identified. The PRK.PARKS layer on the other hand , appeared to be based upon the Santa Clara Parcel layer, which did not include sidewalk and curb areas of the parks. In addition many parcel maps features included sections of roadway or overlapped into neighboring properties when compared with the aerial. Park chains have yet to be reviewed and revised. It is our intent to adjust these features to show only secured or quasi-government lands in which development in unlikely to occur. In addition, park chain lands may be adjusted to reflect underpasses where trails and public access is permitted.

Edge refers to the linear topological primitives that make up MTDB. The All Lines Shapefile contains linear features such as roads, railroads, and hydrography. The All Lines Shapefile contains the geometry and attributes of each topological primitive edge. Each edge has a unique TIGER/Line identifier (TLID) value.

    Description

    This digital map database, compiled from previously published and unpublished data, and new mapping by the authors, represents the general distribution of bedrock and surficial deposits in the mapped area. Together with the accompanying text file (scvmf.ps, scvmf.pdf, scvmf.txt), it provides current information on the geologic structure and stratigraphy of the area covered. The database delineates map units that are identified by general age and lithology following the stratigraphic nomenclature of the U.S. Geological Survey. The scale of the source maps limits the spatial resolution (scale) of the database to 1:24,000 or smaller.

    Description

    Under contract to the Santa Cruz Mountains Stewardship Network with support from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and staffed by personnel from Tukman Geospatial, Aerial Information Systems (AIS), and Kass Green and Associates, Tukman Geospatial and Aerial Information Systems created a fine-scale vegetation map of portions of Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties. CDFW''s Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) provided in-kind service to allocate and score the AA. The mapping study area, consists of approximately 1,133,106.8 acres, of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Work was performed on the project between 2020 and 2023. The Santa Cruz and Santa Clara fine-scale vegetation map was designed for a broad audience for use at many floristic and spatial scales and is useful to managers interested in specific information about vegetation composition and forest health.CNPS under separate contract and in collaboration with CDFW VegCAMP developed the floristic vegetation classification used for the project. The floristic classification follows protocols compliant with the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and National Vegetation Classification Standards (NVCS).The vegetation map was produced with countywide vegetation survey data and combined with surveys from CNPS. Trimble® Ecognition® followed by manual image interpretation that was used to map lifeforms. Fine-scale segmentation was conducted using Trimble Ecognition® and relies on summer 2020 4-band NAIP, the 2020 lidar-derived canopy height model, and a suite of spectral indices derived from the NAIP. They utilized a type of algorithmic data modeling known as machine learning to automate the classification of fine-scale segments into one of Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties 121 fine-scale map classes. The minimum mapping unit (MMU) is set by feature type. For agricultural classes, the MMU is 1/4 acre, for woody upland classes is 1/2 acre, woody riparian is 1/4 acre, upland herbaceo

The Address Ranges Relationship File (ADDR.dbf) contains the attributes of each address range. Each address range applies to a single edge and has a unique address range identifier (ARID) value. The edge to which an address range applies can be determined by linking the address range to the All Lines Shapefile (EDGES.shp) using the permanent topological edge identifier (TLID) attribute. Multiple address ranges can apply to the same edge since an edge can have multiple address ranges. Note that the most inclusive address range associated with each side of a street edge already appears in the All Lines Shapefile (EDGES.shp). The TIGER/Line Files contain potential address ranges, not individual addresses. The term "address range" refers to the collection of all possible structure numbers from the first structure number to the last structure number and all numbers of a specified parity in between along an edge side relative to the direction in which the edge is coded. The address ranges in the TIGER/Line Files are potential ranges that include the full range of possible structure numbers even though the actual structures may not exist.

    Methods: The 2-foot resolution raster was produced from a ground classified 2020 Quality Level 1 lidar point cloud. This DSM was derived by Sanborn and Tukman Geospatial using the following process:QL1 airborne lidar point cloud collected countywide (Sanborn)Point cloud classification to assign ground points (Sanborn)First return points were used to create over 8,000 1-foot resolution hydro-flattened Raster DSM tiles. Using automated scripting routines within LP360, a GeoTIFF file was created for each tile. Each 2,500 x 2,500 foot tile was reviewed using Global Mapper to check for any surface anomalies or incorrect elevations found within the surface. (Sanborn)1-foot hydroflattened DSM tiles mosaicked together into a 1-foot resolution mosaiced hydroflattened DSM geotiff (Tukman Geospatial)1-foot hydroflattened DSM (geotiff) resampled to 2-foot hydro-flattened DSM using Bilinear interpolation and clipped to county boundary with 250-meter buffer (Tukman Geospatial)2-foot hydroflattened raster DEM (geotiff) posted on ArcGIS Online (Tukman Geospatial) The data was developed based on a horizontal projection/datum of NAD83 (2011), State Plane, Feet and vertical datum of NAVD88 (GEOID18), Feet. Lidar was collected in early 2020, while no snow was on the ground and rivers were at or below normal levels. To postprocess the lidar data to meet task order specifications and meet ASPRS vertical accuracy guidelines, Sanborn Map Company, Inc., utilized a total of 25 ground control points that were used to calibrate the lidar to known ground locations established throughout the project area.An additional 125 independent accuracy checkpoints, 70 in Bare Earth and Urban landcovers (70 NVA points), 55 in Tall Grass and Brushland/Low Trees categories (55 VVA points), were used to assess the vertical accuracy of the data. These check points were not used to calibrate or post process the data.Uses and Limitations:The DSM provides a raster depiction of the first (surface) returns for each 2x2 foot raster cell across Santa Clara County. The DSM will be most accurate in open terrain and less accurate in areas of very dense vegetation.Related Datasets:This dataset is part of a suite of lidar of derivatives for Santa Clara County. See table 1 for a list of all the derivatives.     The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The Feature Names Relationship File (FEATNAMES.dbf) contains a record for each feature name and any attributes associated with it. Each feature name can be linked to the corresponding edges that make up that feature in the All Lines Shapefile (EDGES.shp), where applicable to the corresponding address range or ranges in the Address Ranges Relationship File (ADDR.dbf), or to both files. Although this file includes feature names for all linear features, not just road features, the primary purpose of this relationship file is to identify all street names associated with each address range. An edge can have several feature names; an address range located on an edge can be associated with one or any combination of the available feature names (an address range can be linked to multiple feature names). The address range is identified by the address range identifier (ARID) attribute, which can be used to link to the Address Ranges Relationship File (ADDR.dbf). The linear feature is identified by the linear feature identifier (LINEARID) attribute, which can be used to relate the address range back to the name attributes of the feature in the Feature Names Relationship File or to the feature record in the Primary Roads, Primary and Secondary Roads, or All Roads Shapefiles. The edge to which a feature name applies can be determined by linking the feature name record to the All Lines Shapefile (EDGES.shp) using the permanent edge identifier (TLID) attribute. The address range identifier(s) (ARID) for a specific linear feature can be found by using the linear feature identifier (LINEARID) from the Feature Names Relationship File (FEATNAMES.dbf) through the Address Range / Feature Name Relationship File (ADDRFN.dbf).

    Small area /neighborhood names in Santa Clara County. The areas shown on the map were calculated using Census 2010 tract boundaries and are combined into areas with a common place name. Input was provided by city and county planning departments. The boundaries shown are not considered definitive, but rather general in nature. Any naming will be partially correct, and partially incorrect. These boundaries were also required to follow the outlines of census tract boundaries and thus will not follow, in all instances, boundary lines which may be deemed more appropriate.

    Description

    This digital elevation model (DEM) is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer. The DEMs created for this project were developed using the NOAA National Weather Service's Weather Forecast Office (WFO) boundaries. Because the WFO boundaries can cover large areas, the WFO DEM was divided into smaller DEMs to ensure more manageable file sizes. The San Francisco Bay/Monterey (CA) WFO DEM was split into three smaller DEMs. They are divided along county lines and are: 1. San Francisco Bay/Monterey (CA) WFO - Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties 2. San Francisco Bay/Monterey (CA) WFO - Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties 3. San Francisco Bay/Monterey (CA) WFO - Sonoma, Marin, Napa, and Solano Counties This metadata record describes the DEM for the San Francisco Bay/Monterey (CA) WFO - Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. The DEM includes the best available lidar data known to exist at the time of DEM creation for the coastal areas of Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties, that met project specifications. The DEM is derived from LiDAR data collected for the California Coastal Conservancy, NOAA and the United States Geological Survey between 2009 and 2011. Hydrographic breaklines used in the creation of the DEM were obtained from the California Coastal Conservancy, NOAA or the USGS. The DEMs are hydro flattened such that water elevations are less than or equal to 0 meters. The DEM is referenced vertically to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) with vertical units of meters and horizontally to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The resolution of the DEM is approximately 5 meters.
