BackgroundFood literacy is capturing the attention worldwide and gaining traction in the Arab countries. Strengthening food and nutrition literacy among Arab teenagers are important promising empowering tools which can protect them from malnutrition. This study aims to assess the nutrition literacy status of adolescents with the food literacy of their parents in 10 Arab countries.MethodsThis cross-sectional study involving a convenient sample of 5,401 adolescent-parent dyads (adolescents: mean age ± SD: 15.9 ± 3.0, females: 46.8%; parents: mean age ± SD: 45.0 ± 9.1, mothers: 67.8%) was launched between 29 April and 6 June 2022 in 10 Arab nations. The Adolescent Nutrition Literacy Scale (ANLS) and the Short Food Literacy Questionnaire (SFLQ) were used to meet the study aims.ResultsMore than one-quarter (28%) of adolescents had poor nutrition literacy, with 60% of their parents being food illiterate. The top three countries with nutritionally” less literate” adolescents were Qatar (44%), Lebanon (37.4%), and Saudi Arabia (34.9%). Adolescents’ age, gender, education level, primary caregivers, employment status, and the inclusion of nutrition education in the schools’ curriculum predicted the nutrition literacy levels of Arab adolescents. Besides, parental weight status, health status, parent’s food literacy level, and the number of children per household were significant determinants too. Adolescents studying at a university and having parents with adequate food literacy had the highest odds of being nutritionally literate (OR = 4.5, CI = 1.8–11.5, p = 0.001, OR = 1.8, CI = 1.6–2.1, p

With the proliferation of AI tools, it is crucial to understand the level of AI literacy among university students. This study investigates the AI literacy of Library and Information Science (LIS) students in South Asia e.g., Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, and the Middle East namely Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. A quantitative design was employed in this study, which targets 816 LIS students at various academic institutions.

The average monthly wage for female specialists in professional, technical, and humanitarian fields in Saudi Arabia in 2019 was about ** thousand Saudi riyals compared to **** thousand Saudi riyals for males employed in this field.

Saudi labour market trends 

The Saudi female labor participation rate reached a record at more than ** percent of the female population in the first half of 2020. In 2018, the majority of nurses in the country were female. The majority of the workforce is in the oil and gas industry as the economy is centered on oil and gas production. Following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many expatriate workers left the country after the tax raise.

Saudi Arabia education system development

Historically, Islamic facilities such as mosques and Kuttab supplied education to Saudi elites and wealthy families. Private institutions developed the educational system, and subsequently, high schools were established to educate pupils for university studies overseas. Literacy rates for males were as low as ** percent, and considerably lower for females because they only had access to religious instruction. Saudi Arabia's education system remains gender-segregated, with women still attending colleges and educational institutions that are just for women. On average, both genders' graduation rates are very close; the percentage of female graduates was around ** percent in 2019. Following the establishment of seven new institutions, notably Kind Saud University, in the mid-1990s, the country's tertiary education systems were diversified. By 2022, tertiary education enrolment was predicted to hit *** million. The most often mentioned educational problems by both genders were the difficulty of studying, followed by the difficulty of getting to their schools and institutions.

I built this dataset to answer one big question: Can people in developing regions be happier without being rich? I combined data from trusted global reports to compare happiness, education, and money in 14 South Asian and Middle Eastern countries.

The study sample consisted of 26 EFL students from the Department of English Language and Translation at Qassim University that were divided equally by gender (13 males and 13 females). All the students were native speakers of Arabic who were majoring in English. The ages of the participants ranged from 20 to 22 years old. These students were randomly assigned to the study from a group of students who were enrolled in a Reading and Vocabulary Building Course. Afterwards, four students (two males, and two females) were purposefully selected based on their proficiency levels to participate in the reading thinking-aloud task and to answer the interview questions.

A mixed-method research approach was utilized in the study as data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. Data analysis aims to explore both cognitive and metacognitive reading strategy types that the participants used while engaged in a reading task. Data for this research were gathered during the second semester of the academic year 2021-2022. Data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The raw scores obtained from the reading tests were coded and calculated using statistical tool SPSS or Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, used for complex statistical data analysis. Descriptive statistics were reported involving minimum and maximum scores, frequencies, mean scores along with the standard deviation. Moreover, data gathered from the semi-structured interviews and the thinking-aloud sessions were analyzed qualitatively.

Initially, twenty-six undergraduate students majoring in English were assigned into the current study (13 males and 13 females). The students were required to complete a reading comprehension test during a Reading and Vocabulary Building class in one hour. Afterwards, four participants were purposefully selected to take part in a think-aloud session to verbalize all the thoughts and processes going on in their minds while they were taking the test. The think-aloud protocols were then recorded on tapes and their responses transcribed by the researchers later.
