    Description

The performance tables provide information on the attainment of students of sixth-form age in secondary schools and further education sector colleges in the academic year 2013 to 2014.

They also show how these results compare with other schools and colleges in a local authority area and in England as a whole.

The tables report the results of 16- to 18-year-old students at the end of advanced level study in the 2013 to 2014 academic year. All schools and colleges in a local authority area are listed in alphabetical order, including:

    • local authority-maintained secondary schools
    • academies
    • free schools
    • independent schools
    • sixth form colleges
    • other further education sector colleges

Special schools that have chosen to be included are also listed, as are any sixth-form centres or consortiums that operate in an area.

Since 2013 the performance tables have reported indicators for three separate cohorts:

    • A level
    • academic
    • vocational

To be included in a cohort, a student needs to have taken at least one substantial qualification in one or more of the qualification types. Students following programmes of mixed qualification types may belong to more than one cohort, therefore full-time equivalent (FTE) figures are provided alongside student numbers. FTE figures take account of the proportion of time a student spends in each cohort based on the size of the qualification.

The data in the 2010 Award files was obtained from the Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT) from the National Institutes of Health at http://report.nih.gov/award/trends/AggregateData.cfm. The Award Data correspond to the US Government fiscal year. Awards for 2010 correspond to those granted from 1 October 2009-30 September 2010. There is considerable variation on how universities credit awards and how the NIH deals with these variations.

    Description

    CONTEXT

Practice Scenario: The UIW School of Engineering wants to recruit more students into their program. They will recruit students with great math scores. Also, to increase the chances of recruitment, the department will look for students who qualify for financial aid. Students who qualify for financial aid more than likely come from low socio-economic backgrounds. One way to indicate this is to view how much federal revenue a school district receives through its state. High federal revenue for a school indicates that a large portion of the student base comes from low incomes families.

The question we wish to ask is as follows: Name the school districts across the nation where their Child Nutrition Programs(c25) are federally funded between the amounts $30,000 and $50,000. And where the average math score for the school districts corresponding state is greater than or equal to the nations average score of 282.

The SQL query below in 'Top5MathTarget.sql' can be used to answer this question in MySQL. To execute this process, one would need to install MySQL to their local system and load the attached datasets below from Kaggle into their MySQL schema. The SQL query below will then join the separate tables on various key identifiers.

DATA SOURCE Data is sourced from The U.S Census Bureau and The Nations Report Card (using the NAEP Data Explorer).

    Finance: https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/school-finances/data/tables.html

    Math Scores: https://www.nationsreportcard.gov/ndecore/xplore/NDE

    COLUMN NOTES

All data comes from the school year 2017. Individual schools are not represented, only school districts within each state.

    FEDERAL FINANCE DATA DEFINITIONS

t_fed_rev: Total federal revenue through the state to each school district.

C14- Federal revenue through the state- Title 1 (no child left behind act).

C25- Federal revenue through the state- Child Nutrition Act.

Title 1 is a program implemented in schools to help raise academic achievement for all students. The program is available to schools where at least 40% of the students come from low inccome families.

Child Nutrition Programs ensure the children are getting the food they need to grow and learn. Schools with high federal revenue to these programs indicate students that also come from low income families.

    MATH SCORES DATA DEFINITIONS

Note: Mathematics, Grade 8, 2017, All Students (Total)

average_scale_score - The state's average score for eighth graders taking the NAEP math exam.

About the Digest of Education StatisticsThe 2022 edition of the Digest of Education Statistics is the 58th in a series of publications initiated in 1962. The Digest has been issued annually except for combined editions for the years 1977–78, 1983–84, and 1985–86. Its primary purpose is to provide a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school. The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). To qualify for inclusion in the Digest, material must be nationwide in scope and of current interest and value. The publication contains information on a variety of subjects in the field of education statistics, including the number of schools and colleges, teachers, enrollments, and graduates, in addition to data on educational attainment, finances, federal funds for education, libraries, and international comparisons. Supplemental information on population trends, attitudes on education, education characteristics of the labor force, government finances, and economic trends provides background for evaluating education data. The Digest contains important information on federal education funding, though more detailed information on federal activities is available from federal education program offices. The Digest contains tables organized into seven chapters: All Levels of Education, Elementary and Secondary Education, Postsecondary Education, Federal Funds for Education and Related Activities, Outcomes of Education, International Comparisons of Education, and Libraries and Use of Technology. Each chapter is divided into a number of topical subsections.About this DatasetThis dataset represents the tables from the Most Current Digest Tables page: https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/current_tables.asp, as downloaded 2025-07-13.The folder system has three levels. Level 1 is the chapters of the data digest. Level 2 is the subsections of the chapters. Level 3 is a folder each for each table. Each table folder contains an excel file for the table. The top level folder contains a catalog csv with a cross walk between the folder name and the original table titles. There is also a folder for Machine Readable tables downloaded from this page in the top level folder: https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/mrt_tables.asp.

    Description

Abstract This article deals with the problem of translating statistical information given in other registers into the tabular register, from the following two objectives: 1) to study the performance of prospective teachers in translating information given in the other registers into the tabular register; and 2) to compare the performance of future teachers in the different translations. The study included 30 students, future teachers of the first school years, who were attending the 1st or 2nd year of the Degree in Basic Education, at a Higher Education School in the north of Portugal. The data of the present study were obtained through the answers given by the students to four questions, which required the translation of statistical information given in the graphic, numeric-verbal and simple data list register into the tabular register. In terms of results, it is noteworthy that students were more successful in building the simple frequency tables than in building the two two-way tables and the data table grouped into class intervals, the latter being the one that proved to be the most difficult. These results, related to the translation of different registers into the tabular register, are the main contribution of the study and imply that the prospective teachers must deepen their skills of tabular representation.

    Description

This table covers data published in the Welsh Government's annual "Examination Results" release. It provides information on the number of GCSE entries into each subject group and the percentage of those entries achieving each GCSE grade. For more information see the Weblinks. Note that this year, the definition of this table has changed. This table now includes entries taken in previous years, and discounted exams are excluded. This is so that the table is consistent with the rest of the key performance indicators. Figures should be treated with caution - it is possible for pupils to have entered more than one exam within a small number of subject groups.
