    Description

The 2022 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. This file depicts the shape of the United States clipped back to a generalized coastline. This nation layer covers the extent of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and each of the Island Areas (American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) when scale appropriate.

    Description

The 2023 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. The cartographic boundary files include both incorporated places (legal entities) and census designated places or CDPs (statistical entities). An incorporated place is established to provide governmental functions for a concentration of people as opposed to a minor civil division (MCD), which generally is created to provide services or administer an area without regard, necessarily, to population. Places always nest within a state, but may extend across county and county subdivision boundaries. An incorporated place usually is a city, town, village, or borough, but can have other legal descriptions. CDPs are delineated for the decennial census as the statistical counterparts of incorporated places. CDPs are delineated to provide data for settled concentrations of population that are identifiable by name, but are not legally incorporated under the laws of the state in which they are located. The boundaries for CDPs often are defined in partnership with state, local, and/or tribal officials and usually coincide with visible features or the boundary of an adjacent incorporated place or another legal entity. CDP boundaries often change from one decennial census to the next with changes in the settlement pattern and development; a CDP with the same name as in an earlier census does not necessarily have the same boundary. The only population/housing size requirement for CDPs is that they must contain some housing and population. The generalized boundaries of most incorporated places in this file are based on those as of January 1, 2023, as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). The generalized boundaries of all CDPs are based on those delineated or updated as part of the the 2023 BAS or the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2020 Census.

    Description

This dataset represents a compilation of data from various government agencies throughout the City of New York. The underlying geography is derived from the Tax Lot Polygon feature class that is part of the Department of Finance's Digital Tax Map (DTM). The tax lots have been clipped to the shoreline, as defined by NYCMap planimetric features. The attribute information is from the Department of City Planning's PLUTO data. The attribute data pertains to tax lot and building characteristics and geographic, political and administrative information for each tax lot in New York City. The Tax Lot Polygon feature class and PLUTO are derived from different sources. As a result, some PLUTO records do not have a corresponding tax lot in the Tax Lot polygon feature class at the time of release. These records are included in a separate non-geographic PLUTO Only table. There are a number of reasons why there can be a tax lot in PLUTO that does not match the DTM; the most common reason is that the various source files are maintained by different departments and divisions with varying update cycles and criteria for adding and removing records. The attribute definitions for the PLUTO Only table are the same as those for MapPLUTO. DCP Mapping Lots includes some features that are not on the tax maps. They have been added by DCP for cartographic purposes. They include street center 'malls', traffic islands and some built streets through parks. These features have very few associated attributes. To report problems, please open a GitHub issue or email DCPOpendata@planning.nyc.gov.DATES OF INPUT DATASETS:Department of City Planning - E-Designations: 2/5/2021Department of City Planning - Zoning Map Index: 7/31/2019Department of City Planning - NYC City Owned and Leased Properties: 11/15/2020Department of City Planning - NYC GIS Zoning Features: 2/5/2021Department of City Planning - Polictical and Administrative Districts: 11/17/2020Department of City Planning - Geosupport version 20D: 11/17/2020Department of Finance - Digital Tax Map: 1/30/2021Department of Finance - Mass Appraisal System (CAMA): 2/10/2021Department of Finance - Property Tax System (PTS): 2/6/2021Landmarks Preservation Commission - Historic Districts: 2/4/2021Landmarks Preservation Commission - Individual Landmarks: 2/4/2021Department of Information Telecommunications & Technology - Building Footprints: 2/10/2021Department of Parks and Recreation - GreenThumb Garden Info: 1/4/2021

    Description

Download .zipThis is a statewide digital version of the Hydrography layer of the published USGS 1:24OOO-scale topographic map series. It was created from DLG files of each scanned 7.5-minute quad map, using custom ARC/INFO software routines which did the following steps: convert from DLG format to coverage format project from UTM to StatePlane map projection rubbersheet map sheet corners to exact computed quad-corner coordinates run semi-automated Edgematching procedure which joins hydrography lines along the quad edges, using distance-offset (maximum of 100 feet) and attribute-match criteria to determine which lines to join. merge the individual quad coverages and dissolve the quad-edge lines Processing was done using Double Precision coordinates and math, with processing tolerance (Fuzzy) of 1 foot.

In the Database/Dataset Section the items CMAJOR and CMINOR represent coded pairs and are documented together. Up to five pairs in the pat and four pairs in the aat may be present. These will be appear in the tables as CMAJOR1 CMINOR1 CMAJOR2 CMINOR2, etc.

The layer has been provided in both shape file and coverage format. In the case of the shape file separate shape files are provided for point, line, and polygon data. In the coverage format the line and polygon data is combined in one coverage. The shape files will be the choice of most users due to speed of drawing issues. Those users desiring to manipulate the original data may want to use the coverage format. All shapefiles have been combined for simplicities sake into one self extracting zip file which expands to about 500 megabytes. However, the value listed in the file size parameter of the metadata represents only the size of the particular shapefile being documented. Also it should be noted that the coverages contain redefined items which of necessity had to be split into separate items or omitted in the shape files because this option isn't available in shapefiles.

This layer documentation is for the Shapefile which includes line features.Contact Information:GIS Support, ODNR GIS ServicesOhio Department of Natural ResourcesReal Estate & Land ManagementReal Estate and Lands Management2045 Morse Rd, Bldg I-2Columbus, OH, 43229Telephone: 614-265-6462Email: gis.support@dnr.ohio.gov

    Description

The 2020 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. After each decennial census, the Census Bureau delineates urban areas that represent densely developed territory, encompassing residential, commercial, and other nonresidential urban land uses. In general, this territory consists of areas of high population density and urban land use resulting in a representation of the urban footprint. There are 2,644 Urban Areas (UAs) in this data release with either a minimum population of 5,000 or a housing unit count of 2,000 units. Each urban area is identified by a 5-character numeric census code that may contain leading zeroes. This file includes revisions made to the 2020 Census New Orleans, LA Urban Area where the territory originally delineated as the 2020 Census Laplace--Lutcher--Gramercy, LA Urban Area was combined with the 2020 Census New Orleans, LA Urban Area to form the current New Orleans, LA Urban Area. This file includes revisions made to the 2020 Census Atlanta, GA Urban Area and Gainesville, GA Urban Area, where some urban territory originally designated to the Gainesville, GA Urban Area was reassigned to the Atlanta, GA Urban Area.

All but Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples Organization of the North (RAIPON) responded with map edit requests that were incorporated into the shape files that are herein submitted for open access. The edit requests came in the format of hand drawn polygons on top of existing jpg images and/or lists of placenames that should (or should not) be included in each boundary file. Lastly, additional resource maps were shared by Lars Kellerud at GRID Aredal. All efforts were made to accommodate comments and resources provided while editing these layers. These shapefiles were updated with support from the United States National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Arctic/Pan-Arctic Options projects (Award Nos. NSF-OPP 1263819, NSF-ICER 1660449, NSF-ICER 2103490).

    Description

The Digital Geologic Units of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Vicinity, Tennessee and North Carolina consists of geologic units mapped as area (polygon) features. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Evaluation (GRE) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). The data were captured, grouped and attributed as per the NPS GRE Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 1.3.1. (available at: https://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The data layer is available as a feature class in a 9.1 personal geodatabase (grsm_geology.mdb). Attributed geologic contact lines that define the geologic unit polygons are present within the Geologic Contacts (GRSMGLGA) data layer. The Geologic Units (GRSMGLG) GIS data layer is also available as a coverage export (.E00) file (GRSMGLG.E00), and as a shapefile (.SHP) file (GRSMGLG.SHP). Each GIS data format has an ArcGIS 9.1 layer (.LYR) file (GRSMGLG_GDB.LYR (geodatabase feature class), GRSMGLG_COV.LYR (coverage), GRSMGLG_SHP.LYR (shapefile) with map symbology that is included with the GIS data. See the Distribution Information section for additional information on data acquisition. The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 17N. That data is within the area of interest of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This dataset is just one component of the Digital Geologic Map of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Vicinity, Tennessee and North Carolina. The data layers (feature classes) that comprise the Digital Geologic Map of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Vicinity, Tennessee and North Carolina include: GRSMAML (Alteration and Metamorphic Lines), GRSMATD (Geologic Attitude and Observation Points), GRSMFLD (Folds), GRSMFLT (Faults), GRSMGLG (Geologic Units), GRSMGLGA (Geologic Contacts), GRSMGPT (Point Geologic Features), GRSMGSL (Geologic Sample Localities), GRSMMIN (Mine Point Features), GRSMSEC (Cross Section Lines), GRSMSUR (Surficial Geologic Units), GRSMSURA (Surficial Contacts) and GRSMSYM (Fault Symbology). There are three additional ancillary map components, the Geologic Unit Information (GRSMGLG1) Table, the Source Map Information (GRSMMAP) Table and the Map Help File (GRSM_GEOLOGY.HLP). Refer to the NPS GRE Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 1.3.1 (available at: https://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm) for detailed data layer (feature class) and table specifications including attribute field parameters, definitions and domains, and implemented topology rules and relationship classes. The corresponding Integration of Resource Management Applications (IRMA) NPS Data Store reference is Great Smoky Mountains National Park Geology.
