    Description

This site contains the NeSys archive on structure and structure-function data about brain map transformations in the cerebellar system of the rat. This archive presents data not illustrated in the original publications, downloadable original data sets, interactive illustration sequences, including 3-D models. The repository is based on 5 original publications. The publications deal with: - organization of projections to the pontine nuclei from three cortical areas: primary and secondary somatosensory areas (SI and SII), and the primary motor cortex (MI) - organization of pontine neurons projecting to somatosensory representations in the posterior cerebellum The data are also included in the FACCS application, a relational database application with embedded analytical tools, available via the The Rodent Brain Workbench (www.rbwb.org). Sponsors: NeSys Research and Database development is supported by The Research Council of Norway, The European Community (grants QLRT-2000-02256 and QLG3-CT 1999-00763), The Norwegian Consortium for High Performance Computing, and The Jahre Foundation.

    Description

in this proposal, more time is being requested for obsid.propid > time for this proposal is to be transferred from obsid.propid > this proposal requests an upgrade from priority 3 for obsid.propid the star forming region around iras 05487+0255 encloses at least three stellar jets which have some peculiar properties. two of the jets are not detected at optical wavelengths, but only in the near infrared (2 micron) in molecular hydrogen. the brightest jet in the region is detected in halpha, sii 6731 and the molecular hydrogen lines, but its source either is more than 100 arcseconds away or has not been detected. indeed to explain the turbulent optical morphology of hh 110 it has been suggested that the gas outflow originates farther away and that it is undergoing a grazing collision with a molecular cloud. finally, the source for one of the molecular hydrogen jets seems to be misplaced, given the low spatial iras resolution, and is invisible in the k band. the goal of this project is to map the iras 05487+0255 region using isocam to discover the true source of the hh 110 jet and the nature of the iras emission. maps will also be performed for the molecular hydrogen emission to determine its relationshp with the nearby sources. two raster maps will be performed using a pfov of three arcseconds. one 2x2 map for two broad band filters, and another 3x3 map for two narrow band filters. the experiment is designed to detect sources ten times fainter than iras 05487+0255 in its neighborhood, and to map the molecular hydrogen emission. the total time including overheads for this observation is 2725secs. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]

    Description

We employ ionization-parameter mapping (IPM) to infer the optical depth of HII regions in the northern half of M33. We construct [OIII]{lambda}5007/[OII]{lambda}3727 and [OIII]{lambda}5007/[SII]{lambda}6724 ratio maps from narrowband images continuum-subtracted in this way, from which we classify the HII regions by optical depth to ionizing radiation, based on their ionization structure. This method works relatively well in the low-metallicity regime, 12+log(O/H)<=8.4, where [OIII]{lambda}{lambda}4959,5007 is strong. However, at higher metallicities, the method breaks down due to the strong dependence of the [OIII]{lambda}{lambda}4959,5007 emission lines on the nebular temperature. Thus, although O^++^ may be present in metal-rich HII regions, these commonly used emission lines do not serve as a useful indicator of its presence, and hence the O ionization state. In addition, IPM as a diagnostic of optical depth is limited by spatial resolution. We also report a region of highly excited [OIII] extending over an area ~1kpc across and [OIII]{lambda}5007 luminosity of 4.9+/-1.5x10^38^erg/s, which is several times higher than the ionizing budget of any potential sources in this portion of the galaxy. Finally, this work introduces a new method for continuum subtraction of narrowband images based on the dispersion of pixels around the mode of the diffuse-light flux distribution. In addition to M33, we demonstrate the method on CIII]{lambda}1909 imaging of Haro 11, ESO338-IG004, and Mrk 71. Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/923/78/table2 (HII regions in northern M33)
