Data are updated as needed by the Transportation department (typically in the summer), and subsequently copied to VicMap and the Open Data Portal the following day.Traffic speed and volume data are collected at various locations around the city, from different locations each year, using a variety of technologies and manual counting. Counters are placed on streets and at intersections, typically for 24-hour periods. Targeted information is also collected during morning or afternoon peak period travel times and can also be done for several days at a time to capture variability on different days of the week. The City collects data year-round and in all types of weather (except for extreme events like snowstorms). The City also uses data from our agency partners like Victoria Police, the CRD or ICBC. Speed values recorded at each location represent the 85th percentile speed, which means 85% or less traffic travels at that speed. This is standard practice among municipalities to reduce anomalies due to excessively speedy or excessively slow drivers. Values recorded are based on the entire 24-hour period.The Traffic Volume dataset is linear. The lines can be symbolized using arrows and the "Direction" attribute. Where the direction value is "one", use an arrow symbol where the arrow is at the end of the line. Where the direction value is "both", use an arrow symbol where there are arrows at both ends of the line. Use the "Label" field to add labels. The label field indicates the traffic volume at each location, and the year the data was collected. So for example, “2108(05)” means 2108 vehicles were counted in the year 2005 at that location.Data are automatically copied to the Open Data Portal. The "Last Updated" date shown on our Open Data Portal refers to the last time the data schema was modified in the portal, or any changes were made to this description. This is an urban traffic speed dataset which consists of 214 anonymous road segments (mainly consist of urban expressways and arterials) within two months (i.e., 61 days from August 1, 2016 to September 30, 2016) at 10-minute interval, and the speed observations were collected in Guangzhou, China. In practice, it can be used to conduct missing data imputation, short-term traffic prediction, and traffic pattern discovery experiments.
According to the spatial and temporal attributes, we can easily derive a third-order tensor as (\mathcal{X}\in\mathbb{R}^{214\times 61\times 144}) and its dimensions include road segment, day and time window (see the file tensor.mat). The total number of speed observations (or non-zero entries of the tensor (\mathcal{X})) is (1,855,589). If the dataset is complete, then we have (214\times 61\times 144=1,879,776) observations, therefore, the original missing rate of this dataset is (1.29\%).
Note that the file traffic_speed_data.csv is the original traffic speed data with four columns including road segment attribute, day attribute, time window attribute, and traffic speed value. The file day_information_table.csv is a table referring to the specific date, and the file time_information_table.csv is a table expressing time window with start time and end time information.

The Motor Vehicle Collisions data tables contain information from all police reported motor vehicle collisions in NYC. The police report (MV104-AN) is required to be filled out for collisions where someone is injured or killed, or where there is at least $1000 worth of damage (https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.dot.gov/files/documents/ny_overlay_mv-104an_rev05_2004.pdf). It should be noted that the data is preliminary and subject to change when the MV-104AN forms are amended based on revised crash details.For the most accurate, up to date statistics on traffic fatalities, please refer to the NYPD Motor Vehicle Collisions page (updated weekly) or Vision Zero View (updated monthly). Due to success of the CompStat program, NYPD began to ask how to apply the CompStat principles to other problems. Other than homicides, the fatal incidents with which police have the most contact with the public are fatal traffic collisions. Therefore in April 1998, the Department implemented TrafficStat, which uses the CompStat model to work towards improving traffic safety. Police officers complete form MV-104AN for all vehicle collisions. The MV-104AN is a New York State form that has all of the details of a traffic collision. Before implementing Trafficstat, there was no uniform traffic safety data collection procedure for all of the NYPD precincts. Therefore, the Police Department implemented the Traffic Accident Management System (TAMS) in July 1999 in order to collect traffic data in a uniform method across the City. TAMS required the precincts manually enter a few selected MV-104AN fields to collect very basic intersection traffic crash statistics which included the number of accidents, injuries and fatalities. As the years progressed, there grew a need for additional traffic data so that more detailed analyses could be conducted. The Citywide traffic safety initiative, Vision Zero started in the year 2014. Vision Zero further emphasized the need for the collection of more traffic data in order to work towards the Vision Zero goal, which is to eliminate traffic fatalities. Therefore, the Department in March 2016 replaced the TAMS with the new Finest Online Records Management System (FORMS). FORMS enables the police officers to electronically, using a Department cellphone or computer, enter all of the MV-104AN data fields and stores all of the MV-104AN data fields in the Department’s crime data warehouse. Since all of the MV-104AN data fields are now stored for each traffic collision, detailed traffic safety analyses can be conducted as applicable.
The real_time_current data shows the most recent avalable real-time traffic volumes and observed travel speeds on a selected set of roadways in the state. While the real_time feature class shows a collection of the most recent 2 days worth of polling data, this datset shows only the most recent polling data for each site. Keep in mind that if a site is malfunctioning its time stamp might be different than those for sites that are fully operational. Real-time polling is activated for a hurricane or other emergencies in Florida. This dataset is maintained by the Transportation Data & Analytics office (TDA).
