The 1998 Dress Rehearsal was conducted as a prelude to the United States Census of Population and Housing, 2000, in the following locations: (1) Columbia, South Carolina, and surrounding areas, including the town of Irmo and the counties of Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Marlboro, Newberry, Richland, and Union, (2) Sacramento, California, and (3) Menominee County, Wisconsin, including the Menominee American Indian Reservation. This collection contains map files showing various levels of geography (in the form of Census Tract Outline Maps, Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Maps, and County Block Maps), TIGER/Line digital files, and Corner Point files for the Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal sites. The Corner Point data files contain the bounding latitude and longitude coordinates for each individual map sheet of the 1998 Dress Rehearsal Public Law (P.L.) 94-171 map products. These files include a sheet identifier, minimum and maximum longitude, minimum and maximum latitude, and the map scale (integer value) for each map sheet. The latitude and longitude coordinates are in decimal degrees and expressed as integer values with six implied decimal places. There is a separate Corner Point File for each of the three map types: County Block Map, Census Tract Outline Map, and Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Map. Each of the three map file types is provided in two formats: Portable Document Format (PDF), for viewing, and Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language (HP-GL) format, for plotting. The County Block Maps show the greatest detail and the most complete set of geographic information of all the maps. These large-scale maps depict the smallest geographic entities for which the Census Bureau presents data -- the census blocks -- by displaying the features that delineate them and the numbers that identify them. These maps show the boundaries, names, and codes for American Indian/Alaska Native areas, county subdivisions, places, census tracts, and, for this series, the geographic entities that the states delineated in Phase 2, Voting District Project, of the Redistricting Data Program. The HP-GL version of the County Block Maps is broken down into index maps and map sheets. The map sheets cover a small area, and the index maps are composed of multiple map sheets, showing the entire area. The intent of the County Block Map series is to provide a map for each county on the smallest possible number of map sheets at the maximum practical scale, dependent on the area size of the county and the density of the block pattern. The latter affects the display of block numbers and feature identifiers. The Census Tract Outline Maps show the boundaries and numbers of census tracts, and name the features underlying the boundaries. These maps also show the boundaries and names of counties, county subdivisions, and places. They identify census tracts in relation to governmental unit boundaries. The mapping unit is the county. These large-format maps are produced to support the P.L. 94-171 program and all other 1998 Dress Rehearsal data tabulations. The Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Maps show the boundaries and codes for voting districts as delineated by the states in Phase 2, Voting District Project, of the Redistricting Data Program. The features underlying the voting district boundaries are shown, as well as the names of these features. Additionally, for states that submit the information, these maps show the boundaries and codes for state legislative districts and their underlying features. These maps also show the boundaries of and names of American Indian/Alaska Native areas, counties, county subdivisions, and places. The scale of the district maps is optimized to keep the number of map sheets for each area to a minimum, but the scale and number of map sheets will vary by the area size of the county and the voting districts and state legislative districts delineated by the states. The Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal TIGER/Line Files consist of line segments representing physical features and governmental and statistical boundaries. The files contain information distributed over a series of record types for the spatial objects of a county. This dataset shows the 2001 Census Output Areas (OAs). OAs are the smallest geographical unit for which Census data is released, and as a result, they act as the basic 'building-blocks' for the creation of other 'higher' geographies, eg Datazones, council areas. The OAs are constructed by aggregating together a small number of postcodes. Because the OAs cover small areas and contain relatively small numbers of households and population (households in the range 20 to 77; population >/= 50), there is only a limited amount of Census data that can be released without infringing confidentiality. Each OA is assigned to an area in a 'higher' geography by first selecting one of the postcodes in the OA as a 'master' postcode. The OA inherits all the characteristics of the master postcode including its assignment to higher areas and its centroid grid reference. The master postcode is the postcode with the grid reference closest to the centre of the OA weighted by census household. There are 42,604 Census 2001 OAs in Scotland.

Census Tracts from 2020. The TIGER/Line shapefiles are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Census tracts are small, relatively permanent statistical subdivisions of a county or equivalent entity, and were defined by local participants as part of the 2020 Census Participant Statistical Areas Program. The Census Bureau delineated the census tracts in situations where no local participant existed or where all the potential participants declined to participate. The primary purpose of census tracts is to provide a stable set of geographic units for the presentation of census data and comparison back to previous decennial censuses. Census tracts generally have a population size between 1,200 and 8,000 people, with an optimum size of 4,000 people. When first delineated, census tracts were designed to be homogeneous with respect to population characteristics, economic status, and living conditions. The spatial size of census tracts varies widely depending on the density of settlement. Physical changes in street patterns caused by highway construction, new development, and so forth, may require boundary revisions. This 2001 Population Census dataset contains statistics relevant to demographic, household, educational, economic, housing and internal migration characteristics of the Hong Kong population residing in the 197 Small Tertiary Planning Unit Groups in 2001. The dataset also contains the boundaries of individual Small Tertiary Planning Unit Groups. Since 1961, a population census has been conducted in Hong Kong every 10 years and a by-census in the middle of the intercensal period. The 2001 Population Census, which was conducted in March 2001, provides benchmark statistics on the socio-economic characteristics of the Hong Kong population vital to the planning and policy formulation of the government. This dataset will be incorporated into Population Distribution Framework Spatial Data Theme.

The 2020 Census data only includes basic information about total population, race, housing occupancy and group quarters. No long form census was done for this Census cycle. Census Blocks are statistical areas bounded on all sides by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and/or by nonvisible boundaries such as city, town, township, and county limits, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Census blocks are relatively small in area; for example, a block in a city bounded by streets. However, census blocks in remote areas are often large and irregular and may even be many square miles in area. A census block is the smallest geographic unit used by the United States Census Bureau for tabulation of 100-percent data (data collected from all houses, rather than a sample of houses).

In 1983 Sri Lanka participated in the 1983 World Program of Industrial Statistics by carrying out a Census of Industry, on a nation-wide scale. The earliest attempt made at seeking information from the industrial sector was in the “Census of Agriculture and Industries”, that was taken in conjunction with the Population Census of 1946. With the steady increase in industrial activities in Sri Lanka and the growing recognition of the importance of industrial statistics for purposes of planning, a systematic attempt was made to collect data on industrial production through the Census of Industry 1952. This covered Mining and quarrying, Manufacturing, Electricity and Gas and also Construction. The Census of 1952 was confined only to the factory type of establishments which had not less than 5 paid employees, employed a capital of not less than Rs 3000 and used mechanical power in any of its production processes. Among the major agro-based export industries, coconut and oil milling were covered in the 1952 census, while tea factories and rubber mills were excluded, and brought instead within the scope of the Census of Agriculture.
The next Census of industry was conducted in 1964, the scope and coverage of which was similar to that of the 1952 census. The frame for this Census was based on list of buildings prepared for the Census of population 1963. However there was considerable difficulty in identifying the buildings in which industrial activities were carried out. As a result the list of industrial establishments complied on this basis did not provide a satisfactory frame to determine the overall magnitude of “factory establishments” in the industrial sector. The results as analyzed from the limited number of census returns received could thus not yield a sufficiently realistic picture of the level and structure of industrial activity in the country.
National Coverage.
Industrial establishments - Defined as the unit directed by a single owning or controlling entity that is engaged in the production of the most homogeneous group of goods and services, usually at one location but sometimes over a wider area, for which separate records are available(eg. plant, factory, mill, mine, workshop etc) In cases where industrial enterprises were engaged in the production of more than one homogeneous group of goods and services in different locations, separate returns were generally obtained for each such product group and location. In cases where establishments operated by a single owner or enterprise was located within the area of one GS Division or Ward, these several units could furnish a single return and this would be reckoned as one establishment. Ancillary units including warehouses, garages repair shops electric plants which primarily served the needs of a single establishment, if they were in the same site within the same GS division , or Ward were treated as part of the main establishment. Otherwise these were treated as separate establishments but classified to the same industry as the parent establishment.
The census covered establishments engaged primarily in the activities of Mining and Quarrying, Manufacturing and the production and distribution of Electricity, Gas and water which correspond to major divisions 2,3 and 4 respectively of the UN classification of ISIC and represented the industrial sector specified for census coverage. The final census was conducted in two phases (Nov - Dec 1983 and Feb - Mar 1984) and involved the canvassing of the required data by the method of direct personal visits to approximately 40,000 establishments, which covered (a) all establishments 'engaging 5 or more persons' and (b) a representative sample of establishments in the small -scale sector viz. units engaging less than 5 persons.

The sample was a nationally representative probability sample drawn from the directory of industrial establishments. It was decided to select a total sample of 25000 establishments. The census estimates of all the variables were required at district level by ISIC, three digit categories. Each district was subdivided into AGA Division, MC areas and UC areas. Within each such area, establishments were classified according to ISIC three digit categories which constitute the basic stratum. The sample was allocated sequentially to districts, AGA, MC or UC and ISIC three digit categories proportional to the number of establishments . The sample was selected systematically.

Depending on the manner in which large and small-scale business undertakings maintained their business records, it was decided to use the following two types of census questionnaires for the canvassing of data at the final enumeration.
Questionnaire CI/2S - the short form for enumeration of selected sample small scale establishments, where less detailed information was canvassed on the basic range of items specified by the UN for the 1983 World Program of Industrial Censuses. This is the questionnaire which is valid for the present study.
Special Remarks : Questionnaire CI/2L - the long form for enumeration of medium and large scale establishments, where detailed information was sought on the full range of items recommended by the UN for the 1983 World Program of Industrial Censuses.
A total of 37,754 establishments furnished satisfactory returns (returns reckoned for tabulation of primary results) and this yielded an overall all-island response rate of 88.3% with the corresponding rates '5 and over persons engaged' category and for the 'under 5 persons ' category being 83.1% and 93.4% respectively.

The primary purpose of census tracts is to provide a stable set of geographic units for the presentation of census data and comparison back to previous decennial censuses. Census tracts generally have a population size between 1,200 and 8,000 people, with an optimum size of 4,000 people. When first delineated, census tracts were designed to be homogeneous with respect to population characteristics, economic status, and living conditions. The spatial size of census tracts varies widely depending on the density of settlement. Physical changes in street patterns caused by highway construction, new development, and so forth, may require boundary revisions. In addition, census tracts occasionally are split due to population growth, or combined as a result of substantial population decline. Census tract boundaries generally follow visible and identifiable features. They may follow legal boundaries such as minor civil division (MCD) or incorporated place boundaries in some states and situations to allow for census tract-to-governmental unit relationships where the governmental boundaries tend to remain unchanged between censuses. State and county boundaries always are census tract boundaries in the standard census geographic hierarchy. In a few rare instances, a census tract may consist of noncontiguous areas. These noncontiguous areas may occur where the census tracts are coextensive with all or parts of legal entities that are themselves noncontiguous. For the 2010 Census and beyond, the census tract code range of 9400 through 9499 was enforced for census tracts that include a majority American Indian population according to Census 2000 data and/or their area was primarily covered by federally recognized American Indian reservations and/or off-reservation trust lands; the code range 9800 through 9899 was enforced for those census tracts that contained little or no population and represented a relatively large special land use area such as a National Park, military installation, or a business/industrial park; and the code range 9900 through 9998 was enforced for those census tracts that contained only water area, no land area.
This GIS layer contains the geographical boundaries of the 2020 census tracts for Loudoun County, Virginia. The 2020 Census tract boundaries are used for Census Bureau statistical data tabulation purposes, including the 2020 Decennial Census and American Community Surveys. Census tracts are part of the sub-county census geography hierarchy of tracts, block groups, and blocks. The three census geographies nest to each other, forming a hierarchy of census tract, followed by block groups, and then blocks, with blocks being the smallest. A census tract consists of one or more census block groups and is a cluster of census blocks within the same census tract. Tracts are uniquely identified within a County by a six digit number. The last two digits will be zeros unless earlier divisions of the census tract occurred as a result of population growth. Tracts are designed to be relatively homogeneous units with respect to population characteristics, economic status, and living conditions. They generally have at least 1,200 people or 480 housing units, and no more than 8,000 people or 3,200 housing units, with an optimal size of 4,000 people or 1,600 housing units. This 2020 Census tract GIS layer's boundaries are based on the U.S. Census Bureau Census 2020 TIGER/Line files. The boundaries are an extract of aerial photography and cartographic information, such as roads and streams, from the Loudoun County GIS system. Census tracts are bounded on all sides by visible features, such as roads, streams, lakes, power lines, and railroad tracks, and/or by non-visible boundaries such as town and county boundaries, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads.

The project has collected the world's largest archive of publicly available census samples. The 2000 census used a long form questionnaire. Long Form Sampling Entities (LFSEs) were used to determine sampling rates. If the smallest LFSE that included all or any part of a block had an estimated housing unit count of less than 800, the housing units in the block were sampled at a 1-in-2 rate. If it had an estimated housing unit count of 800 or more but less than 1,200, units were sampled at a 1-in-4 rate. If a block was not in either of the two previous categories, and was part of an interim census tract with 2,000 or more estimated housing units, units were sampled at a 1-in-8 rate. Housing units in all remaining blocks were sampled at a 1-in-6 rate. When all sampling rates were taken into account across the nation, approximately 1 out of every 6 housing units was included in the Census 2000 sample.

Census Block is the smallest geographic unit used by the United States Census Bureau for tabulation of 100-percent data (data collected from all houses, rather than a sample of houses). The number of blocks in the United States, including Puerto Rico, for the 2010 Census was 11,155,486.Census blocks are grouped into block groups, which are grouped into census tracts. There are on average about 39 blocks per block group. Blocks typically have a four-digit number; the first number indicates which block group the block is in. For example, census block 3019 would be in block group 3.Blocks are typically bounded by streets, roads or creeks. In cities, a census block may correspond to a city block, but in rural areas where there are fewer roads, blocks may be limited by other features. The population of a census block varies greatly. As of the 2010 census, there were 4,871,270 blocks with a reported population of zero, while a block that is entirely occupied by an apartment complex might have several hundred inhabitants. Census blocks covering the entire country were introduced with the 1990 census. Before that, back to the 1940 census, only selected areas were divided into blocks. Census blocks are maintained within the Administration Feature and is dissolved out weekly. Administration is a polygon feature consisting of the smallest statistical areas bounded by visible features such as roads, streams, railroad tracks, and mountain ridges, as well as by nonvisible boundaries such as jurisdictional limits, school district, public safety boundaries, voting precincts, and census blocks. This methodology allows for single stream editing to move coincidental boundaries across many aggregate datasets simultaneously. Administration is maintained though an ArcGIS topology class in conjunction with County Parcels and Zoning. The topology prevents self-intersection and gaps, while ensuring complete coverage amongst the participating features.

The layer represents Census 2016 theme 4.2, family units with children. Attributes include family units by number of children and age of children (e.g. families with 1 child - all children aged under 15, families with 3 children - all children aged both under 15 and over 15 ). Census 2016 theme 4 represents Families. The Census is carried out every five years by the CSO to determine an account of every person in Ireland. The results provide information on a range of themes, such as, population, housing and education. The data were sourced from the CSO. The Small Area Boundaries were created with the following credentials. National boundary dataset. Consistent sub-divisions of an ED. Created not to cross some natural features. Defined area with a minimum number of GeoDirectory building address points. Defined area initially created with minimum of 65 – approx. average of around 90 residential address points. Generated using two bespoke algorithms which incorporated the ED and Townland boundaries, ortho-photography, large scale vector data and GeoDirectory data. Before the 2011 census they were split in relation to motorways and dual carriageways. After the census some boundaries were merged and other divided to maintain privacy of the residential area occupants. They are available as generalised and non generalised boundary sets.

The 1998 Dress Rehearsal was conducted as a prelude to the United States Census of Population and Housing, 2000, in the following locations: (1) Columbia, South Carolina, and surrounding areas, including the town of Irmo and the counties of Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Marlboro, Newberry, Richland, and Union, (2) Sacramento, California, and (3) Menominee County, Wisconsin, including the Menominee American Indian Reservation. This collection contains map files showing various levels of geography (in the form of Census Tract Outline Maps, Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Maps, and County Block Maps), TIGER/Line digital files, and Corner Point files for the Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal sites. The Corner Point data files contain the bounding latitude and longitude coordinates for each individual map sheet of the 1998 Dress Rehearsal Public Law (P.L.) 94-171 map products. These files include a sheet identifier, minimum and maximum longitude, minimum and maximum latitude, and the map scale (integer value) for each map sheet. The latitude and longitude coordinates are in decimal degrees and expressed as integer values with six implied decimal places. There is a separate Corner Point File for each of the three map types: County Block Map, Census Tract Outline Map, and Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Map. Each of the three map file types is provided in two formats: Portable Document Format (PDF), for viewing, and Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language (HP-GL) format, for plotting. The County Block Maps show the greatest detail and the most complete set of geographic information of all the maps. These large-scale maps depict the smallest geographic entities for which the Census Bureau presents data -- the census blocks -- by displaying the features that delineate them and the numbers that identify them. These large-format maps are produced to support the P.L. 94-171 program and all other 1998 Dress Rehearsal data tabulations. The Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Maps show the boundaries and codes for voting districts as delineated by the states in Phase 2, Voting District Project, of the Redistricting Data Program. The features underlying the voting district boundaries are shown, as well as the names of these features. Additionally, for states that submit the information, these maps show the boundaries and codes for state legislative districts and their underlying features. These maps also show the boundaries of and names of American Indian/Alaska Native areas, counties, county subdivisions, and places. The scale of the district maps is optimized to keep the number of map sheets for each area to a minimum, but the scale and number of map sheets will vary by the area size of the county and the voting districts and state legislative districts delineated by the states.
