DNR has undergone a project to re-engineer and redesign its information systems for all offices of the department. Specifically, DNR has implemented Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System, SONRIS (pronounced Sunrise"). DNR uses its Administrative Web Server as the electronic access portal to information about DNR stored in static pages on the Administrative Web Server, and to dynamic SONRIS information available from other DNR Web servers. The public now has access via their Web browser to various tool sets within SONRIS: Data Access: retrieve oil and gas information, and coastal information, from the DNR Oracle database using sophisticated queries, and view pre-built reports such as the Conservation Scout Reports. Choose from either SONRIS "Classic", a robust form-based query capability, or SONRIS "Lite", an HTML-based capability designed for low-bandwidth users. Document Access: query and view millions of electronic document images, e.g., Office of Conservation oil/gas production cards and field orders, and Office of Mineral Resources lease records. GIS Access: retrieve information using interactive, geographically oriented, map capabilties, and select from a variety of layers of backgrounds.
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' (LaDNR) Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System (SONRIS) is a repository for well information that includes date of completion, well construction, geology, and water levels. Well information provided by the water well drillers during the permitting process is updated periodically by LaDNR. Well information is available in SONRIS as early as 1930 to the present. This data set consist of 20,759 well records extracted from SONRIS that were likely drilled in the Chicot aquifer system in southwestern Louisiana.

This dataset contain the final 6,298 water-level records that met all threshold criteria and had absolute residuals (ABS_PSEUDO_LEVRES) not exceeding 20 feet and exceeding the 99th percentile. This final dataset is considered a best representation of the true water levels in the aquifer.

This data set consists of the remaining 6,701 water-level records formatted in the "infoGW" object format that met specific criteria for the visGWDB groundwater-level informatics software framework. This criteria ensures that the water-level records were representative of true groundwater conditions in the Chicot aquifer system and associated aquifer units in southwestern Louisiana.
This GIS layer consists of oil and gas field approximate center point locations (approximately 1,800). Oil and gas fields not assigned a center point by the DNR Office of Conservation will not appear on the map. These points are manually placed into the database as allowing the software to automatically plot the geocenters of the fields may place the point outside the field due to the odd shapes of many of the fields. These data are updated weekly. This oil and gas field approximate centerpoint dataset was processed on January 31, 2007 for the Louisiana 2007 GIS DVD from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LDNR) Oracle database/ESRI SDE oil/gas fields file. These data are updated weekly and can be downloaded from the LDNR oil/gas well download site - http://sonris-gis.dnr.state.la.us/website/DownloadLogin.html . Detailed information from the DNR Oracle database for fields can be accessed at LDNR's SONRIS web page (www.sonris.com) in the Office of Conservation Reports - Codes and Lookup Tables.

This data release provides several data files representing groundwater levels reported through driller's reports for the State of Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, 2023) within or near the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) and (or) associated with the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA). First, a retrieval of data from the State of Louisiana was made and manual preparatory filtering including complete information of location, date, water level (depth below land surface) and water level altitude in feet, and general association with the MAP or MRVA. Further manual and digitally-assisted inspection was made to confirm that the data were not already within the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Information System (NWIS) (U.S. Geological Survey, 2023). The agency code for the water levels has been assigned "LA018" (Louisiana Department of Natural Resources) in accordance with the https://help.waterdata.usgs.gov/ ...
This is a point dataset containing the location of over 230,000 oil and gas and injection wells in the state of Louisiana. It was developed from the DNR Office of Conservation Oracle database compiled from all wells permitted since the industry was first regulated in the early 1900's. Data fields for the wells are listed in the "Attributes" section of this document. This oil and gas well dataset was processed on January 4, 2007 for the Louisiana 2007 GIS DVD from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LDNR) Oracle database/ESRI SDE well files. These data are updated daily and can be downloaded from the LDNR oil/gas well download site - http://sonris-gis.dnr.state.la.us/website/DownloadLogin.html . Detailed information from the DNR Oracle database for the attribute codes can be accessed at LDNR's SONRIS web page (www.sonris.com) in the Office of Conservation Reports - Codes and Lookup Tables.

This dataset contains digitized groundwater quality data from 435 wells that are screened in the Chicot aquifer system. Reported values of interest included specific conductance, total dissolved solids, and chloride (Cl) concentration; other parameters and major/trace element concentrations were included if reported. Values listed as “NA” or “-9999” represent data that was not reported in the physical dataset. A concentration of 0 ppm or ppb represents a reported concentration of 0 and not a null value. Data were collected from scanned versions of well registration records obtained from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. Most well registration records may be accessed through Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System (SONRIS database found at https://www.sonris.com), however some records may only be available in hard copy format.

This repository presents data sets for figures 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Processing methods are described in the paper. The READme file contains details about each file. Please address any questions about this dataset to Hurtado-Pulido.
LiDAR data from 1999 is stored and distributed by the Atlas: The Louisiana Statewide GIS (https://maps.ga.lsu.edu/lidar2000/). LiDAR data from 2018 is stored and distributed by the USGS Server through The National Map Download Manager (https://apps.nationalmap.gov/downloader/).
EnviSAT SAR images were retrieved from the Earth Observation Catalogue (https://eocat.esa.int/sec/#data-services-area). Sentinel-1 SAR images from the Copernicus Open Access Hub (https://scihub.copernicus.eu/dhus/#/home). Both property of the European Space Agency.
GNSS information was processed by the Nevada Geodetic Laboratory (Blewitt et al., 2018; http://geodesy.unr.edu/NGLStationPages/gpsnetmap/GPSNetMap.html).
Data from water, injection, and extraction wells is stored in the Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System property of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (http://sonris-www.dnr.state.la.us/gis/agsweb/IE/JSViewer/index.html?TemplateID=181).
