    Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

    Description

This database corresponds to the study of authorship of men and women of the research contributions published in a selection of ten Spanish Archaeology journals over the last half century. In this paper the percentage of representation of women in these high-ranking journals and its evolution during this period is analysed. It is also addressed if there are differences in the proportion of female and male authors according to single and multiple authorships, in signature positions and whether the sex/gender of the first authorship has any influence in the rest. Besides, the study tackles the subject of these contributions and also in accordance with sex/gender of the authorship. The results obtained bring to light that despite the incorporation of women in Archaeology university studies and the profession during the last 50 years, men continue to be authors of the majority of the works published in these journals. This study shows that the low proportion of female authors has been sustained over time without observing a progression to an increasing representation of women as authors of these publications.

Description

As of January 2025, roughly 25.01 million women lived in Spain, thus outnumbering men by about 980,000. A report on expected population of EU member states forecasts the number of Spanish inhabitants growing to 49.9 million by 2050, which would make the Mediterranean nation the fourth most populated country in the EU, after Germany, France and Italy. Data relating to the population of Spain by gender and autonomous community shows the most populous region was Andalusia, with 4.4 million females and 4.2 million males, followed by the communities of Catalonia and Madrid. Moroccans made up the largest share of foreign nationals living in Spain, closely followed by Romanian nationals.
