    Description

The County's goal in special protection areas is to protect and maintain high-quality or sensitive water resources and related environmental features in identified geographic areas where proposed land uses threaten those resources and a higher level of environmental protection is needed. This protection will be accomplished cooperatively through the control of land use, site design, and protection of environmentally sensitive areas by the Planning Board and the provision of effective design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of best management practices by DEP and other County agencies. Both approaches are necessary to achieve the goal of watershed and stream protection. For more information, contact: GIS Manager Information Technology & Innovation (ITI) Montgomery County Planning Department, MNCPPC T: 301-650-5620

    Description

Under Article 4 of the Birds Directive (Directive 2009/147/EC) six Special Protection Areas (SPAs), covering a total land area of c.1.671 km² has been classified for the conservation of the Hen Harrier Circus cyaneus in Ireland. A survey of breeding Hen Harrier reported that 128 to 172 breeding pairs were recorded in 2010 which was broadly similar to the totals recorded in the previous survey in 2005. However notable declines were recorded in some traditional strongholds of this species’ breeding range (Ruddock et al., 2012). In 2014 a Hen Harrier Habitat Mapping Project focusing on these SPAs and based on remote sensing techniques was undertaken. This project was to produce a contemporary geospatially digitised habitat map for the six SPAs. This project produced a contemporary geospatially digitised habitat map for the six SPAs. This projects was to use habitat categories that broadly correspond to the Fossitt Classification system (Smith et al., 2011), distinguish habitats of ecological relevance to Hen Harrier, to use a mapping resolution corresponding to the Ordnance Survey Ireland 1:5000 base-map to allow land use within discreet enclosed land parcels to be readily identifiable.

    Description

This spreadsheet contains the UK wide data submitted to the EU Commmission as part of the Standard Data Form information completed for all Special Protection Areas. Special Protection Areas (SPAs) are strictly protected sites classified in accordance with Article 4 of the EC Birds Directive, which came into force in April 1979. They are classified for rare and vulnerable birds (as listed on Annex I of the Directive), and for regularly occurring migratory species. The EU Commission requires information on each site to be compiled in the form of a Standard Data Form. This dataset is updated every time a new or amended batch of information is submitted to the EU Commission. It is an archived data series form August 2009 to July 2015). Note that Gibraltar information is not included in this spreadsheet. Please note that this information was superceded in December 2015 by a spreadsheet that contains information for both SACs and also SPAs - in other words for the whole Natura 2000 network. This dataset is entitled "Natura 2000 all site details"

The information provided here, follows the officially agreed site information format for Natura 2000 sites, as set out in the Official Journal of the European Union recording the Commission Implementing Decision of 11 July 2011 (2011/484/EU). The content matches exactly the data submitted to the European Commission. Further technical documentation may be found here http://bd.eionet.europa.eu/activities/Natura_2000/reference_portal More general information on Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) in the United Kingdom is available from the SAC home page on the JNCC website. http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=23. This webpage also provides links to Standard Data Forms for all SACs in the UK.

this sheet is organised in a series of tabs - corresponding to different sections of the standard data form. All sheets are filterable by Country codes - (E, S, W, NI and OF for offshore). Cross border sites take the first letter of each country code eg EW for England Wales, SO for Scotland/Offshore. The tabs are: *SPA Site details - one row per site, containing basic site details. *Bird data submitted to the EU - species listed in section 3.2 of the standard data form and also bird assemblages identified in section 4.2 *SPA Maps - a facility to produce simple dot maps of sites *SPA Habitat classes *Bird data assemblages *SPA Physical site characteristics (pre 2013 versions of this spreadshet only - from 2013 these details are integrated into a column on the site details table).

Together with the Special Protection Areas for Birds (SPAs), they constitute the Natura 2000 Network, integrated into the Network of Natural Protected Areas (RANP) of Castilla y León, (Law 4/2015, of 24 March, on the Natural Heritage of Castilla y León).

SCIs declared SACs by Decree 57/2015 of 10 September 2015 declaring special areas of conservation and areas of special protection for birds and regulating the basic management and conservation planning of the Natura 2000 network in Castilla y León.

Layer formed by the aggregation of the cartographic adaptation of the limits of the SACs of Castilla y León, at reference scale 1:10.000. It is understood by cartographic adaptation of the limits of a space to cartographic adjustment aimed at increasing its accuracy and reliability, which derives from the improvement of the analysis instruments and cartographic bases that have occurred since its definition. These limits have been adjusted, as a general rule, to the official cartography (basic, thematic or derived), of greater precision in force, with legal validity and / or territorial representation. The proposal for these cartographic adjustments was made available to the public together with the proposal for the declaration of SACs and SPAs, through the Resolution of 8 October 2014 of the Ministry of Development and Environment, which submitted for public hearing and information the draft decree declaring Special Areas of Conservation and Special Protection Areas for Birds and regulating the basic management and conservation planning of the Natura 2000 Network in the Community of Castilla y León. Those adjustments have been approved by the European Commission through Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/2328 of 9 December 2016 adopting the tenth updated list of sites of Community importance for the Mediterranean biogeographical region and Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/2335 of 9 December 2016 adopting the tenth updated list of sites of Community importance for the Atlantic biogeographical region; and by Resolution of 24 January 2017 of the Directorate-General for the Natural Environment, which approves and publicises the adjustments to the limits of the Special Areas of Conservation and the Special Protection Areas for Birds of the Natura 2000 Network of Castilla y León.

    Description

The Natura 2000 network comprises 2 types of regulatory areas: special Protection Areas (SPAs) and Special Conservation Areas (SACs). The Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) aim at the conservation of the habitat types and animal and plant species listed in Annexes I and II to the European Habitats Directive of 21/05/1992. In order to designate the SACs, each Member State shall submit its proposals to the European Commission in the form of a pSIC (proposal for a Community Interest Site). After approval by the Commission, the PSIC is listed as a Site of Community Interest (SIC) for the European Union and is integrated into the Natura 2000 network. A ministerial order then designates the site as a SAC.

Supporting habitats refer to the habitats that support the designated Special Protection Area (SPA) bird features and are shown to be important to a species or an assemblage of species for any period of time. A process of standardising Annex 1 sub-features corresponding to the EUNIS habitat classification hierarchy was developed, and a standard list of sub-features was then created and defined according to existing EUNIS habitat descriptions and associated biotopes. Subfeatures representing supporting habitats for SPAs are derived from the UK EUNIS level 3 seabed habitat map integrating data originating from surveys and EU SeaMap as part of the Development of a framework for Mapping European Seabed Habitats (MESH) project.

Source Protection Area (SPA) boundaries have been located on RF 24000 & RF 25000 scale USGS topographic maps by Water Supply Division (DEC) and VT Dept of Health (historical) personnel. Buffered SPAs are based on the point location of the water source(s) Refer to the SOURCE coverage documentation file for information on data sources used. This GIS layer consists of the geographic location of the Source Protection Areas for active and inactive Public Community and Non-Transient Non-Community for surface water intakes labeled by the Water System Identification Number (WSID) and source number (i.e. WL001 or IN002). The SPA generally consists of a buffer around the upstream river and tributaries and watershed boundary. The source locations are drawn from the State Drinking Water database (SDWIS). The water sources are surface water intakes on lakes or rivers that predate regulations developed in the 1970s to new sources under review now.For information regarding attributes of Public Water Source feature layers, please download the:Public Water Sources Data Dictionaryupdate 06/17/2022 - join issue fixed that caused some features to fail.

    Description

Perimeters of Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) belonging to the European Natura 2000 network The Natura 2000 network comprises 2 types of regulatory areas: special Protection Areas (SPAs) and Special Conservation Areas (SACs). Successful description to be completed: Indicate the size of the text fields. All attributes of the original DIREN data can be retained if necessary. These attributes are not necessarily the same from one DIREN to another.

    Description

Digital national overview map of the geometries of all Lower Saxony EU bird sanctuaries, Habitats and Nature Reserves. Pursuant to Article 4 of the EC Birds Directive (79/409/EEC), the Member States (in the Federal Republic of Germany the Länder) are obliged to declare the most suitable areas in terms of area and number for species listed in Annex I to the Directive (Article 4(1)) and for migratory bird species (Article 4(2)) as Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and to notify them to the European Commission as part of the ecologically networked Natura 2000 protected area system. Under EC Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora (Fauna Flora Habitats Directive, Habitats Directive), each Member State is required to designate sites for a coherent ecological network of protected areas. In the digital map, all notified FFH areas for Lower Saxony, including those already identified by the EU Commission as "Sites of Community Importance" (SCIs), are presented across the board. The national overview map of the geometries of all Lower Saxony nature reserves contains the protected areas designated by the Lower Nature Conservation Authorities on a generalized scale (1:25000). Without exception, the area delimitations and area indications in the respective ordinances or laws of the protected areas are legally binding.

    Description

Important note: The data set is updated daily under OpenData NRW! Landscape protection areas (LSG) are legally binding areas in which, according to Section 26 (1) BNatSchG, "a special protection of nature and landscape 1. to maintain, develop or restore the performance and functionality of the ecosystem or the ability to regenerate and sustainably use the natural assets, 2. because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty or the special cultural-historical significance of the landscape or 3. because of its special significance for recreation". Compared to nature reserves, these are generally larger areas with fewer restrictions on use. Modification bans are aimed at preserving the "character" of the area. Agriculture and forestry can be restricted if they change the character of the area or run counter to the protective purpose. Landscape protection areas can also be designated to preserve the landscape for tourism and recreation. Notes on the LSG for the metadata: The service does not yet contain the current status for the districts and urban districts of Krefeld and Minden-Lübbecke.

Description

A Special Protection Area (SPA) is the land designated under Directive 2009/147/EC on the Conservation of Wild Birds. SPAs are strictly protected sites classified in accordance with Article 4 of the EC Birds Directive, which came into force in April 1979. They are classified for rare and vulnerable birds (as listed on Annex I of the Directive), and for regularly occurring migratory species. Data supplied has the status "Classified". The data does not include "Potential" sites. Boundaries are mapped against Ordnance Survey MasterMap.Full metadata can be viewed on data.gov.uk.
