    Description

Special Service Areas (SSA) boundaries in Chicago. The Special Service Area program is a mechanism used to fund expanded services and programs through a localized property tax levy within contiguous industrial, commercial and residential areas. The enhanced services and programs are in addition to services and programs currently provided through the city. SSA-funded projects could include, but are not limited to, security services, area marketing and advertising assistance, promotional activities such as parades and festivals, or any variety of small scale capital improvements that could be supported through a modest property tax levy. This dataset is in a format for spatial datasets that is inherently tabular but allows for a map as a derived view. Please click the indicated link below for such a map. Description

As part of BOREAS, the RSS-15 team conducted an investigation using SIR-C , X-SAR and Landsat TM data for estimating total above-ground dry biomass for the SSA and NSA modeling grids and component biomass for the SSA. Relationships of backscatter to total biomass and total biomass to foliage, branch, and bole biomass were used to estimate biomass density across the landscape. The procedure involved image classification with SAR and Landsat TM data and development of simple mapping techniques using combinations of SAR channels. For the SSA, the SIR-C data used were acquired on 06-Oct-1994, and the Landsat TM data used were acquired on September 2, 1995. The maps of the NSA were developed from SIR-C data acquired on 13-Apr-1994.

    Description

Sewer Service Area (SSA) Plans have been developed for twenty-six 208 Water Quality Areas within the Designated ‘208’ Water Quality Planning Area of the East Central Region. SSA Plans are required underWisconsin Administrative Code NR-121 for certain communities within Wisconsin and assist in maintaining and improving water quality within the State by outlining areas which are able to accommodate sewered development in a well-managed environment as well as delineatingEnvironmentally Sensitive Areas which preclude such development. SSA Plans also serve as the long-term plan (20-40 years) for the community’s wastewater treatment plant and collection infrastructure and are used as guidance during the Facilities Planning process established under Wisconsin Administrative Code NR-110. East Central prepares and administers SSA Plans under an agreement and funding arrangement with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The plans are meant to be flexible and are periodically updated (approximately every 5-6 years) in order to accommodate unanticipated changes in the community. All twenty-six SSA Plans, initially prepared in 1985, will have been updated at least once by the end of 2002. An SSA Plan Update Schedule has been developed for future plan updates which will ensure their review on a timely basis. This schedule will be subject to some changes based on timing, funding, and other local priorities. SSA Plan amendments and updates are reviewed/completed by staff and submitted to the Commission’s Community Facilities Committee (CFC) and/or the full Commission for approval. Once the Commission has approved the plan modification, it is submitted to the WDNR for final review and certification. Please note that the plan amendment process can take up to 3 months from start to finish! The Commission’s SSA Amendment procedures are contained within the individual SSA Plan documents. Additional, general information on Sewer Service Area Plans can be found on the Wisconsin DNR’s Sewer Service Area Planning Web Page. East Central is also responsible for the review of public sanitary sewer extensions, facilities plans, and the subsequent issuance of Water Quality Management Letters (sometimes referred to as ‘WQM’ or ‘208’ letters). These letters are required by WDNR to ensure that the proposed project is consistent with the existing Water Quality Management SSA) Plan. Please note that the ‘208’ review process can take up to 30 days and submittals should allow for this!

BORIS staff could not find a format document or commercial software for reading SIF; the BOREAS HYD-08 team provided some C source code that could read some of the SIF files. The data cover the BOREAS NSA and SSA. The original data were compiled from information available in the 1970s and 1980s.

Seven Sole Source Aquifers have been designated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Massachusetts. A Sole Source Aquifer (SSA) is an aquifer designated by US EPA as the 'sole or principal source' of drinking water for a given aquifer service area; that is, an aquifer which is needed to supply 50% or more of the drinking water for that area and for which there are no reasonably available alternative sources should that aquifer become contaminated.More details...Map service also available.

    Description

The BOREAS HYD-09 team collected data on precipitation and streamflow over portions of the NSA and SSA. This data set contains Cartesian maps of rain accumulation for 1-hour and daily periods during the summer of 1994 over the SSA only (not the full view of the radar). A parallel set of 1-hour maps for the whole radar view has been prepared and is available upon request from the HYD-09 personnel. An incidental benefit of the areal selection was the elimination of some of the less accurate data, because for various reasons the radar rain estimates degrade considerably outside a range of about 100 km. The data are available in tabular ASCII files.

To export the data in either tabular or geographic format, please use the Export button on this dataset.
