A Geographic Information System (GIS) shapefile and summary tables of the extent of irrigated agricultural land-use are provided for eleven counties fully or partially within the St. Johns River Water Management District (full-county extents of: Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Osceola, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, and Volusia counties). These files were compiled through a cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Agricultural Water Policy. Information provided in the shapefile includes the _location of irrigated lands that were verified during field surveying that started in November 2022 and concluded in August 2023. Field data collected were crop type, irrigation system type, and primary water source used. A map image of the shapefile is also provided. Previously published estimates of irrigation acreage for years since 1987 are included in summary tables.

The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2024. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August. These data were automated to provide an accurate high-resolution historical shoreline of St. Johns River, FL suitable as a geographic information system (GIS) data layer. These data are derived from shoreline maps that were produced by the NOAA National Ocean Service including its predecessor agencies which were based on an office interpretation of imagery and/or field survey. The NGS attribution scheme 'Coastal Cartographic Object Attribute Source Table (C-COAST)' was developed to conform the attribution of various sources of shoreline data into one attribution catalog. C-COAST is not a recognized standard, but was influenced by the International Hydrographic Organization's S-57 Object-Attribute standard so the data would be more accurately translated into S-57. Airborne terrestrial LiDAR was collected for St. Johns County, FL. System Parameters/Flight Plan. The LiDAR system acquisition parameters were developed based on a maximum average ground sample distance of 2.1 feet. A Leica ALS50 LiDAR sensor was used for acquisition. Acquisition specifications for the sensor follows: Field of View (full angle) - 24 degrees, Nominal flight altitude (AGL) - 3000 feet, Airspeed - 130 mph (113 knots), Laser pulse rate - 100,000 Hz, Nominal swath width (on ground) - 1275 feet, Maximum cross track point spacing - 2.07 feet, Maximum along track point spacing - 4.30 feet, Average point spacing - 1.67 feet, Flight line spacing - 970.47 feet, Side overlap - 23.91 percent. LiDAR System Calibration. Prior to the LiDAR acquisition, the system underwent a calibration to verify the operational accuracy and misalignment angles. Boresight calibrations were performed for the LiDAR system at the beginning and end of each flight mission. LiDAR Data Acquisition. LiDAR data acquisition only occurred when the sky was sufficiently clear of clouds, smoke, and atmospheric haze. The LiDAR data was processed immediately after the acquisition to verify the coverage had no voids. GPS/Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) Post Processing. The GPS and IMU data was post processed using differential and kalman filter algorithms to derive a best estimate of trajectory. The quality of the solution was verified to be consistent with the accuracy requirements of the project. LiDAR Processing and Classification. The LiDAR data was post processed and verified to be consistent with the project requirements in terms of post spacing and absence of artifacts. The point cloud underwent classification to determine bare-earth points (class 2), noise points (class 7), water returns (class 9), and unclassified data (class 1). Class 12 contains LiDAR points removed from the overlap region between adjacent flight lines.

This GIS data set comprises a portion of the Gulf-Wide Information System (G-WIS) database for the entire coastal zone of Florida and the lower St. Johns River. These data characterize coastal environments and wildlife resources for environmental planning and natural resource management purposes. The G-WIS data include three main components: Shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. This data set contains sensitive biological resource information rare and endangered Diadromous and freshwater FISH (GT-polygon) species in the lower St. Johns River and estuary. The remainder of the marine coastal G-WIS study area is not included in this theme for Florida, nor are the major marine and estuarine fish or fisheries of Florida. In this file the base data have been joined to the BIOGWIS dbf file.
